With our tummies not even half-full from our meal at Cafe Laguna, we drove down to Big Ben at Robinsons to eat a decent meal.

And yes, Big Ben, you are a lifesaver. Our oasis in the desert. 128519

On our table we had:
• filet mignon
• baked mussels
• arroz a la cubana

Big Ben has never disappointed with their steaks. Ever. The filet mignon was just so tender it was effortless to cut it. It was oozing with flavor and was oh so juicy too. And I really liked the bacon strip of this meat. 128523 And by the way, all their steak meats are US angus beef. 128076

The baked mussels were overflowing with cheesy goodness, but the little critters had a little of their natural excrements left in them. So I had to clean them out. Still was good though.

And the arroz a la cubana was such a pleasure to eat too. Even though it was 90% rice and chock full of carbs 128517, I just kept on bringing spoonful after spoonful to my mouth. Because it isn't your ordinary arroz a la cubana. They dice up the veggies and chop up the steak meat themselves. They don't use store-bought ground meat and diced veggies. Uh uh. It's manual labor of love, yes! 10084 Top that with perfect sunny-side up eggs and fried bananas on the side... yum! A meal that's not only limited to breakfast - it's great anytime of the day! 128516

And the waiter was so friendly and attentive too. When we were ordering, my father and mother wanted to split the filet mignon. He offered to have it served on two separate plates with their own side dishes. (So what's in the photo is just half of the meat. Imagine if it whole! 128513) When we were eating, our water glasses were always full and he was alert on taking away empty plates. 128077

Good thing you can always count on Big Ben! 128516

The restaurant takes its name not from the clock tower in London, but after one of the co-owners.

Big Ben serves the best and most reasonably priced steaks in the GenSan! They are a very popular restaurant in the city, and both locals and foreigners come to dine at Big Ben.

They serve only Angus beef for their steaks. You can choose how you want your steak cooked. Been here many times before, and the meat is consistently flavorful and tender. Never had one that was tough.

They have a whole lot of other must-try dishes, such as their baby back ribs, grilled mixed seafood, hanging tenders, and tuna tail in adobo sauce. Delish!

Their service is also quite good. The attendants are quick and attentive.

The ambiance is also very comfortable and homey. And they have free WiFi too!

Will definitely keep coming back to Big Ben!
