One of the well-known places to eat in this side of Guinobatan. Passing through Guinobatan on our way to KawaKawa Hill, Big Mike’s Acacia was hard to miss because of its’ façade. It is structured like an old colonial Filipino’s bahay na bato. It’s semi-self service in that you have to place your order at the counter. They have a menu board you can choose from but they also have cooked food, carinderia style. The food a la carte food is then served by friendly staff.

We ordered all the cooked food they had on hand. Pinangat na Isda, Laing, Bicol Express (of course!) and I also ordered Longsilog, that is, Guinobatan Longganisa with egg and rice. As they had fruit shake on the menu, we ordered that as well. All priced for less than 650pesos!

Everything was cooked to Bicolano perfection. As we were invited to stay in the air-conditioned area of the restaurant (it also doubles as a party venue), along with the colorful table covers, it literally felt like I was attending a birthday party. We were, however, disappointed to find out that the fruit shake was basically powdered flavoring. So yes, we downed our authentic Bicolano dishes with Zagu-like flavored shakes. Regardless, it’s still a recommended place to eat in Guinobatan.
