It's been 3 years ago since I first visited Big Plate, when my highschool friend went home from the US. I was back here earlier as this was the reception of my godchild's Christening.

Since my last visit, the place didn't change at all. The interior was just the same, combining whites and greens all over it. The place is very far from the other buffet restaurants, considering the size and simplicity of the chairs, tables, etc. I can say that its interior looks more of a fastfood than a buffet resto.

Big Plate had a plethora of Filipino cuisines one can indulge, at least back when I first went here. I wasn't able to look at their menu now since the food were already prepared and ready to be attacked by hungry visitors, myself included. That said, I do not know if their menu has changed. What gave me a recall on their menu before was their Adobo and Laing Pasta. I was able to taste their Laing Pasta, and it tasted great.

Since the dishes were somewhat limited, choices wise -- which boils down to their sets offered to parties like this -- there were only a few to choose from. The good thing there was they replenished the food everytime it ran out. These cuisines were the ones I can still remember: Molo Soup, Plain and Yang Chow Rice, Steamed Fish Fillet, Shanghai Rolls, Cordon Bleu, Spaghetti, Crispy Kare-Kare. They also had a mini salad bar, and Red Velvet Cupcakes and Fruit Salad for dessert.

I was surprised that the memory I had of this place was totally different from the one I experienced earlier. I can say that the taste of the food ranged from just okay to dissatisfying. I liked the Lechon Kawali in the Crispy Kare-Kare. Although it tasted just like any Lechon Kawali, the crunch gave it plus points for me. Eerily, what I really loved most was their Red Velvet Cupcake. From its frosting on top up to its moist cake, it got a non-dessert lover like me wanting for more. Too bad, I was already super full to eat more cupcakes.

As for those that I didn't like, their Spaghetti was at the top of my list. It tasted like banana ketchup, which I don't like. Their Yang Chow Rice was also one of their dissatisfying offerings because it was bland. I like my Yang Chow to have a bit of flavor in it. As for the other dishes, it was just okay -- nothing too wonderful nor dissapointing points to discuss.

I don't know if Big Plate still offers their one-of-a-kind pastas, but those were the reason why I wanted to go back here. If they still do, I would gladly go back here only for those.

Decided to have lunch yesterday at The Big Plate. I remember, this was featured in one of the episodes of Taste Buddies. My Verdict: There's nothing much extravagant about this place, aside from the comfy couch and and a fairly nice food selection. But considering its buffet price of less than 200+++ pesos for weekdays and 300+++ for weekends, I must say that this is a good value for money :)

At P198, this breakfast buffet is a bargain. The spread isn’t extensive but you can eat all you want from the choice of Chicken Adobo, Beef Tapa, Longganisa, Daing na Bangus, Paksiw na Bangus, Scrambled Egg, Egg Drop Soup, Fruit Cocktail and Fried Sweetened Saba. You even have free coffee. Plus if you purchase a little bit more to go over P200, you get a free Star newspaper. Pretty hard to top that! The taste of each dish is not bad, nothing spectacular, but at least each dish is warm and good enough to fill a hungry morning belly.

The place is quiet and clean with lots of space in the morning, so it makes for an ideal venue for those breakfast meetings (like what I just had).

If you’re in the south, this is a good place to consider. 128516

Sundays always feel a bit dreary for me no matter how hot or how high the sun shines. There's just something about Sundays that brings me down. So hubby and decided to trek along BF towing our graduate ( our baby just graduated from prep) we ran into this cozy place beside Caltex, saw the word "buffet" and walked right in. It was cheap 260 per head and there was a decent array of food. Crispy Karekare, sweet and sour fish, fried chicken to name a few. They had some desserts as well like a chocolate and some kind of tiramisu The main dishes were good it was decent for the price. Sadly the dessert sucked, the tiramisu tasted like the chiller ( weird I know but it had that distinct taste of ice , ice water stacked for a long time in the ref ) the chocolate cake was nothing to scream about. We wanted to give them another try so we ordered a cake ala carte their version of Banana Cream Pie. It was HARD as a rock , as in hard I told the waitress about this and she goes " ma'am talagang frozen Yan kelangan nasa freezer. Argh. Yes I am fully aware about that, but I don't think it's supposed to be rock hard. And if you freeze something to that extent it looses the flavor and the quality, freezer burn! :( it was ok but it could've been better.

Regular fare. Nothing fancy. I wonder why they call it Big Plate? The ones they have there look pretty regular-sized to me.
