Nowadays, going on a food trip is a legit fun thing to do on any given day. So, I decided to gather friends to tag along with me in my restaurant hopping during one holiday. One of our stops include the Bistro Kalzada, a Peruvian and South American inspired resto, situated in a food hub in Maginhawa St. Teachers Village, Quezon City.
A couple from overseas invited me to check out their new startup, and visit this latest venture of theirs. When I finally did, together with my friends, we were offered the best sellers in their menu–their Peruvian chicken and slow roast Cuban pork. They served these dishes in enormous servings, much to our delight.
For starters, we got a hefty portion of their home-prepped crispy tortillas, which consisted mostly of salsa. It isn’t your ordinary starter as the serving was indeed very filling, with its combination of fried and fresh ingredients.
Their Peruvian chicken was definitely authentic. The flavors in the chicken were bold all the way to its insides. The meat was obviously well prepped up, given its tenderness.
Expect to give the Cuban pork one hell of a tough bite. I’d say that it is forgivable once the taste of the dish sinks in to your palate. It is a nice combination of the flavors of chimichurri, tomato sauce, and the sweet and tangy feel of pineapple chunks.
