I have been hearing that there’s a café in McKinley that offers one of the best milk teas in the metro. Since R and I were already in the area, we decided to head to the popular café to try some of its talked about drinks.

Hello, Black Canyon!

Black Canyon is located along the strip of restaurants in Tuscany so it is easy to spot this cafe.

It had simple no frills interiors and the counter was the first thing you’ll see once you step inside. You may opt to order in front or have one of the wait staff approach you.

I went with the bestseller Cha Thai Yen (PHP120) while R ordered Matcha Green Tea Frappe (PHP160). We also ordered a bowl of Taro Balls in Coconut Cream (PHP78) as dessert. (We just had lunch at Nihonkai Tsukiji when we dropped by this shop.)

While waiting, R and I took advantage of the free wifi and charged our phones while we catch some Pokemon.

Our bowl of taro balls was served in less than 10 minutes and it made me realize why it was cheap. The bowl used was small and if you have a big appetite, you could eat this in two mouthfuls. Taste-wise, it wasn’t that impressive. It had a faint taste of taro and the coconut cream didn’t help much. I was also slightly disappointed as I was picturing something like bilo-bilo or rice balls. It was my bad though to expect such from taro balls which was more mushy than sticky.

R’s Matcha Green Tea Frappe was quite good. It had good green tea flavor and it wasn’t overly sweet. However, I still prefer the siren’s version over this one.

I had high hopes for Black Canyon’s bestseller but I was disappointed by it as well. The milk tea taste wasn’t that strong. Though I liked that it wasn’t sweet, it was close to being described as watered down.

However, despite a not so impressive first impression, I’ll most likely visit again to try Black Canyon’s savory dishes. I think this place deserves a second chance. And no, it’s not for Pokemon Go. (And yes, I still play.)

After having a peek of the Venice Grand Canal at Venice Piazza, my mom and I decided to just dine somewhere else. While the mall’s food court is open with only about 5 choices (or less), the Piazza is still undergoing construction and is basically not really ready for the public yet.

My mom and I decided to check out Tuscany Estates and we ended up here in Black Canyon Coffee. I did not expect this place to have so many dishes but it did and it even has Thai food. Apparently, Black Canyon Coffee is franchised from Thailand. This was pretty interesting since I only know of coffee shops coming from US, Vietnam, and South Korea.

At 5:30pm on a weekend, there were a few tables occupied. There were some individuals working, and some groups just hanging out. The air conditioning unit was not working well but they have an electric fan available.

🔹Mushroom Soup. It was too creamy and milky that we could not really appreciate the mushroom anymore.

🔹Fried Spring Roll. I am not sure what it was actually called but this was good together with the dipping sauce that comes with it.

🔹Pork Chop Steak with Black Pepper Mushroom Gravy. This was good and tender but it lacks a little flavor. This comes with salad and fries which were both good.

Overall, I liked Black Canyon Coffee since there are so many choices, food was good, and prices are reasonable.

I love this place so much that I ate here for 2 consecutive days. 128514

I was craving for pad thai and this place was the first thing that came to my mind.

Pad thai had a mild taste. It's a noodle flavored with tamarind and fish sauce, I think. Well, some of my friends thought it was spicy but it's not. Anyway, it has a hint of sweetness and saltiness to it. I'm bad at describing, huh. It is served with lots of shrimp! which I like because they did not scrimp on it. Nuts and bean sprouts are also served on the side. I also ordered Thai milk tea which is a must-try!

On my second day, I ate there with my Team and apart from my usual order, we also tried the shrimp in tamarind sauce and the fish fillet. The fish fillet was good and we also enjoyed the salad that comes with it. The shrimp, though, was so-so. The batter/breading was too thick. It's like eating soft croutons. Haha! Skip it!

I'd like to have a slice of their Ferrero cake but was so full already 128563 maybe next time.. 128522

Staff was also attentive and friendly. The girl seemed to recognize when she smiled at me. Service was great! Though we're a big group, they were able to attend to all of our requests and did not forget any - from extra plates, tissues to additional glass of ice. Good job!

Been here twice already over all Id give it 4 stars, the ambience is nice and cozy. Although it doesnt look like it, this is a thai restaurant/cafe. Careful when picking on the menu, its either win or lose. So its good thing you're reading this review.

The one in the picture is Tom Yum pasta it reminds me of Sopas. Its basically shrimp tom yum with fusilli. I love how they took tom yum into a whole new level, the broth is rich, tasty and perfectly balanced with extra spicy kick that I find soothing on the throat.

Pad thai though not in the photo is also a must try!

"Pad-Thai kang bata ka!" Pun intended. It's been awhile since I visited Black Canyon Coffee in Tuscany Hill. Good thing? My friends opted for Thai food earlier. I was disappointed (a bit) 'cause the Wonton Pad Thai I was craving for ages wasn't available. The good thing is - they have their famous Pad Thai. 128077🏻127860

Who would have thought that Black Canyon Coffee serves great food as well? 128513

Not my first visit but this is the first time I've tried a different meal. 128522

In the pic I got Fried 128032 Fish w/ Katsu Fried Rice and a 127851 Chocolate Glacier Frappe. Boyf had my default order - Fried Rice w/ 127844 Shrimp Paste and Green Tea Frappe. We also had Chicken Wings and Fries as appetizers. 128523

Not bad in trying their other meals because I enjoyed it too but as usual I wasn't able to finished it. 128517 No worries, boyf is always to the rescue. 128514

Waiters are also attentive not sure though if it only because it's late already and we are the only table left. Hoho! 128517 But +points pa din kasi when we ordered they told us that the meal will need certain minutes to prepare so we would not expect that it will be served immediately. 128077 ... The reason why we got appetizers, LOL.

P.S. Really loved their beverages. Chocolate Glacier Frappe is 10084️!!

Cafe Americano & Thai Iced Tea, both were ok.

What I didnt like was their service. I asked where their Restroom was but they pointed me outside the cafe because "malapit na daw sila mag close". Duh! And it's not yet store closing hours, still have about 30mins till closing. Crew wants to go home early.128078

Met some of my travel buddies last night to catch up. We headed down to Black Canyon as it's near their office (lugi ako! Haha).

Haven't been to Tuscany estates that much because I hate the traffic and the parking but perfect pala to on a weekday night, not much crowd. Haha.

I tried out the ice green tea latte and it wasn't bad. I would've loved more matcha but it's not bad at all 128077

As for the chicken wings appetizer, it was bleh. Our yaya could cook better ones even if she had her eyes closed (kaso baka napaso siya ng todo haha).

Their iced drinks are good and the place is perfect for casual conversations. 128077

I like their black canyon iced coffee. I think its better than starbucks. Love their lava cake not too sweet. Thier red velvet cake is so yummy. Their ferrero cake is just ok.

Their hot matcha latte was great—rich, flavorful and authentic (trust me, after enough nasty, sugary, powdery "matcha" lattes, you learn to appreciate the real deal). It wasn't cloying either, but struck a perfect balance between bitter and sweet.

Their cakes on the other hand were dry and unsatisfying. The red velvet was pretty flavorless, and after eating all the frosting off (because cream cheese), the rock-hard actual cake part practically begged to be thrown out.

With regard to the Symphony (cheesecake + fudge cake on the bottom), the cheesecake portion's consistency was fine, except it tasted like everything but a cheesecake. No tang at all, and way too eggy 128078 Similarly, the fudge cake on the bottom was not fudgy but dry, and the cocoa used was evidently low-quality. The only redeeming factor was the delicious, rich chocolate on the top.

Service was warm, but overly accommodating. Think borderline department store.

Ambiance was alright, nothing special. Had I known what I was in for, I would've gone to Coffee Bean.

The end. A visit isn't necessary. I guess you may, but don't order their cake.

Coffee is TOO SWEET.

What I hate most though is that when I got there, the manager was not wearing a shirt. Even after I asked to use the bathroom, he was still topless.

The place stinks also. Smells like trash or sewage.
