Last night, we followed our senior bosses at work here for some grub. Six of us arrived at around 1ish in the morning and surprisingly the place wasn't packed. I wonder why and to think it's Friday.

When we got to the table they already have the Italian Style Nachos (freshly fried corn tortillas, ragu alla bolognese, artichoke cream, olives, roast tomato, parmesan, and mozzarella) |480php

🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀 This dish is good! It's served on a big platter, they were generous on the cheese and olives! Yum! I think I ate a lot of this last night.

Jack Daniels |2800php 1L
127863127863127863127863 Oh, I've missed this! I loved it with coke! No hangover! 128077🏻

We ordered:

All-Meat Pizza (Pepperoni, chicken, italian sausage, double smoked bacon) |580php 12"

127829127829127829 This pizza was just so so. I've had better. Couldn't even remember if I tasted bacon. It's not worth having a second slice.

Garlic Parmesan Wings (1lb crispy fried chicken wings tossed in Black Olive's garlic parmesan wing sauce, and herbs) |480php

127831127831127831 This one is another let down, the info on the menu will give you a picture that this dish is good, but reality is far from expectation indeed. The breading has flavor, but not really garlicky and the meat inside lacks flavor. It's bland and there's only 6 wings! Not worth the price and the calories and extra fat. Frankie's wings are way way better!

|Service: you have to fight for the waitstaff's attention. Lol like seriously, the place is big it has 2 floors and there's like 2 staff serving. The staff serving us seems to be having a not-so-good day. She didn't smile and didn't seem pleasant. She just got the order and leave and come back without even a hint of smile on her face which makes me sad. 128557

| Place is big enough for groups, the second floor is quite big too. Restrooms were clean. They also have a DJ playing good music.

| Over-all experience was just okay. No wonder it wasn't packed on a Friday night.

Dear, Black Olive,

You can do better!

Place was not that full on a Wednesday night which was understandable.

The food ranges from 300 to 500 per but drinks were fairly reasonable.

This drink is 170+ called Adios Motherfucker consists of Rhum, Vodka and Tequila. A bit diluted probably because of too much ice.

Place is good overall.

[Disclaimer: Late post.]

Funny how when you get older, birthdays seem to be less and less of a special day. But one thing I still want on my special day is a cake and a meal, may it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner, outside. However, I had prior engagement with a company from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (though I have 12 noon to 2 p.m. as my lunch break). So for a quick lunch, we went to Black Olive Cerveceria.

Hello Black Olive Cerveceria!

The place hardly had customers when we arrived. Well, it was a Wednesday and lunch time so it was pretty much expected.

Since I was in a hurry to finish lunch, we ordered right away. What caught my eye was the Porchetta with Rosemary Roast Potato and Caponata (PHP490) while my mom went for the Grilled Italian Sausage with Roast Garlic Mashed Potato and Pepperonata (PHP390). We also ordered a bowl of Bell Pepper and Tomato Soup with Basil Pesto (PHP220) and Vanilla Pannacotta with Balsamic-marinated Strawberries (PHP220).

While waiting, we were served with a complimentary basket of bread with dip. My mom enjoyed the freshly baked bread and ended up finishing it herself.

Next served was the soup which was served on a huge bowl. It was slightly spicy and I find it rather thick as an appetizer. It was very creamy and the tomato taste was pretty strong (which I love). However, I'd rather go with a slightly lighter appetizer.

The sausage arrived next and my mom loved it as it was not overly processed so it had more texture and it was juicy too.

My porchetta caught the eye of one of the customers and asked me if he could take a picture of it. Wow, my food is a scene stealer. (Sort of.)

I enjoyed it a lot. The pork was well cooked. The meat was tender and the skin was very crispy. There wasn't a time that I had time slicing my food. The sauce added a tangy flavor which was just heavenly. I also loved the mashed potato and mushrooms.

The dessert was served around 5 minutes after we asked for it.

It was smaller than I imagined and the strawberry pieces were rather squishy then again, perhaps it became so because it was marinated.

My taste buds were surprised when I had a bite. It was very tangy. I guess the marinade was too strong that it overpowered the pannacotta.

The house blend iced tea was pretty refreshing. We just have to wait for the ice to melt a bit as the brew was a little strong. But overall, I loved it.

My birthday lunch ended with time to spare. I really loved my main course and I can't wait to try Black Olive's signature Grilled Peri Peri chicken next time.

Craving for dessert?!? Their hazelnut chocolate banana creme brulee is a MUST TRY!! Can't wait to bring my youngest who is a sugar addict. First time I ate at this place, I already fell in 10084️ with their pizza and for the 2nd time, their proscuitto de parma delivered it! I also ordered their Penne Arrabiatta which is a freakin mistake because it was just TOO SPICY! so much for the waiter saying it's a 'bit' spicy. Lesson learned! Lol! Need to find my pasta here soon... best part is they're open this lenten season... for us to try the rest

Food poisoning from last night's nachos or that chicken dish with the roasted peppers and risotto. But I'm guessing it's the nachos.

Ordered the Prosciuto di Parma and Carbonara Alfredo. It was a group serving for three but I guess if you love pasta then it would only be good for two. The pizza was okay, I was just hoping for some good serving of prosciuto since I liked salted meats a lot. Ordered cranberry juice which was too sour for my taste. Was planning to order some beer but opted not to since it might trigger hyperacidity. It was a good eat and would definitely come back to taste their selection of drinks next time.

Lychee Martini was solid!

Also their fish and chips, and fries!

Their service wasn't though. Too slow for thirsty and hungry people on a Friday night.

I would recommend the paella, the shrimp in squid ink, peri-peri chicken, burger with gorgonzola. Skip the pork belly sandwich, it's really boring and just sad. The sampler for the appetizer is ok and everything else on the photo are all okay. If you don't mind your mushroom risotto a little too "wet" then you'll like their version since they did cooked ours well and they use arborio rice. The baked ziti is okay too, needs more cheese though. The pizza is also average. Keep in mind the servings here are huge, so don't over order like we always do. Lol. It's a good place to hang-out with big groups since you can share food and since it's a cerveseria, you can have drinks there as well already.127867

The restaurant was nice, clean and modern. I like it when I see different kinds of alcoholic drinks (bottles) displayed in the restaurant. Black Olive specializes in Mediterranean cuisine. For starters, we ordered the Garlic Beef Rib Fingers, it was yummy because the beef was tender. For pasta, we had Fettuccine which has generous amount of sauce and Clams Linguine also with plenty of clam meat. For mains, we ordered their house specialty Black Olive Paella, Chicken Saltimbocca, Pork Chop, and Peri-Peri Chicken. Foods were all well seasoned, tasty, flavorful and presentable. Servers were able to get our orders correctly and was kind enough to take our pictures when we requested. Quite a pleasant dinner for the the family. However, their security marshall/bouncer has the attitude. When we asked if he could help us look for our umbrella,he did not look for it instead he started interrogating us. When we found our umbrella, we left, but to our surprise he followed us in the parking lot and looks like he wanted to fight.

I liked this squid inked shrimp appetizer that much and so too with their BO paella and peri peri chicken. They have a well stocked beer armamentarium here from the best known worldwide and special mention to the Trappist brew Chimay beer from Belgium almost caramel like. This resto has good pedigree from the likes of Draft Gastropub and Publiko too.

Am a bit torn for this review. Black Olive is surely one of the best restaurants in Capitol Commons as well as Estancia, although for the service..that am not sure. At first they were moody and confusing. Then when more customers came in later that night, they were a bit more enthusiastic and friendly. I said confusing because they asked us quite a lot and confirmed orders like it was the first time everytime. I don't know why but the cashier lady had an attitude. She was staring at us like we've done something wrong (or was she judjing us because we had so many orders). I don't know but damn, it was a rude thing to do especially we're customers and we pay for their service.

Be that as it may, the food was fantastic! I have four top picks; the Tiramisú (not in photo), the Squid Ink Shrimp (not in photo), the Truffle Popcorn, and the Parmesan Fries. You better try those, and you'll surely go back for more.

We had tiramisu with our drinks, lol. Weird combination, I know. (But the cake was quite good!)

Food and drinks were okay. Patron XO was only a hundred bucks, while Double Black was around two-eighty.

The staff were accommodating until the place became quite full. Service became slow, then. They're probably short on staff that time.

Bad acoustics on the second floor. Could barely hear my friends and we were already so close to one another on our table.

Been drinking this long weekend and found myself drinking again with some friends here in black olive. I like the place since service is fast and servers are really attentive. Steady crowd not too noisy and pretty decent. I am troubled to see myself wearing shorts to this intimidating place but I guess no worries as the place is just chill and not too formal. Beers are averagely priced same as Makati. My hoegardeen cost me 180 per bottle which is acceptable.

If you are looking a good place to hangout in Estancia, Capitol commons might want to consider this place. 128522128077🏻

We came to this place with a big boss who was vegetarian. Perhaps not the best idea, but we figured we can get a basic pizza or pasta that didn't have meat in it. WRONG. Here's a rundown of all the things that didn't quite satisfy us:

1. Artichoke dip was not available; I asked if there is anything else in the menu that's NOT available and they said no, that was the only one. I ordered the boneless buffalo wings and - yep, you guessed it - not available.

2. We ordered the Margherita pizza for the big boss - not available.

3. We settled on the white cheese pizza and asked we could at least get some veggies there - like bell peppers or onions - kitchen said no. Why not if we were willing to pay no matter how much it was? No effort extended even after we mentioned one of the guests were vegetarian.

4. Ordered two roasted pork bellies, only got one. The waiter who was serving us kept reminding us he was not the one who took our order, and thus he couldn't have known we ordered two, and consequently it was not his fault.

5. Ordered two salmons - turns out there is only one piece of salmon left in the kitchen. So one of the guys in our group had to change their order.

Overall the service was slow and unsatisfactory. People didn't smile, and was not apologetic even with all the problems listed above.

The only redeeming factor: the mushroom crostini and beef tips.

We've been served badly here before, and have had food that wasn't impressive. In the spirit of giving chances, this is my third time in this restaurant but it was none the better. Won't be having a fourth time, even if dinner was free.

Their drinks may be cheap but im not up for their buy 1 take 1 cocktails. Didnt even feel anything after 2 drinks. The truffle fries can be ordered with lemon aioli though! Better alternative for when Tipsy Pig is packed for the night.

Trying to find the best risotto in Metro Manila lead me here to Black Olive in Capitol Commons. Their Mushroom Risotto contains smoked bacon, parmesan, spinach, truffle oil, and mushrooms, of course. The parmesan and truffle oil really stand out and the fragrance drifts as soon as it's in front of you. I personally prefer cheesier risottos or at least some with a bit of salt but it felt like the sauce's creaminess overpowered even the salt of the bacon. I know that seems weird but that's just me. Other than that, it was ok as a risotto but others who may like creamier risottos will love this one.

(Reposting to the right branch address... Thanks, looloo!)

The first thing you notice as you enter the room is the soft lighting. Not too dark, not too bright. Allows you some sense of privacy and still a sense of being with other people. Seats - whether at tables or by the bar are comfy. Music is at a level that allows people to converse happily (and there is much of that tonight)!

Just finished my last meeting for the week and waiting for the car... So it is like Friday for me. Time for hoegaarden! Black Olive's barbecue pork riblets matched with sliced baguette and olive oil complements the beer perfectly! Though there were only about 5 substantial pieces of the riblets, I used the barbecue sauce (which had a hint of lemon which was refreshing) as sauce for my sliced baguette... Nice dinner to end my week ...

Will come back here, definitely! Because 1. Service is lightning fast. I ordered my beer, it was given. My food order did not take ten minutes to be served (Hanep!). 2. Waiter was accommodating and made suggestions. Staff willingly moved me to a warmer spot at the bar because my first spot was uber cold (a/c here is freezing level if you are directly in its path hahah... Guess it helps so customers order more beer!). 3. Food is plated well, looks good and actually tastes good!

Excellent way to end my day....
