Blackbird is a little (chos) too fancy for me. An after work dinner was arranged here. I forgot to search about the place so I did not bring extra clothes with me. Imagine wearing a shirt/jeans outfit in a very fancy place where most of the guests are wearing suits for men and cocktail dresses for women.

All the tables were served with a few bread slices as an appetizer with butter and something red on the side. For the something red, I actually don't know what it is but it's good. It's kinda meaty and had a hint of saltiness into it.

My teammate and I shared 2 orders, thinking that it'll have a big serving and we won't be able to finish it. We got a PIZZA and a PASTA. We got the buffalo mozarella, tomato and oregano (I hope I got it right) pizza and the linguine, mussels, squid, sweet shrimp, saffron, roasted tomatoes pasta. The pizza was delicious and the serving was enough for at least two girls. I also liked how the dough was cooked - not too crunchy and not chewy. The pasta had a unique taste. The more you eat into it, the more spicy it gets. It was good but not my favorite. Not really a fan of super spicy food. For our dessert, we ordered the lemon meringue tart which had little to no hint of sweetness on it. The lemon flavor overpowered the whole dish but it was a good break to cleanse/refresh my taste palate from all the tomato-based dishes I've eaten.

Perfect for date night or special occasion. Be ready to spend for more than usual. Good thing their steak did not fail me. I ordered medium and it was perfectly cooked. Also ordered their baked alaska for dessert but it was too sweet for my tooth 128541

Im willing to give this place another chance. I'll be back, that is if I have extra cash. 128540

When Makati is the only place your family calls home, you can't help but feel nostalgic for the places that have stood the test of time. Before the development of this city, the Nielson Tower used to be the Manila International Airport. Glorietta in the 90's used to exhibit pictures of the old district on the walls in the mall. Walking into Blackbird you can't help but feel that old, classic Art Deco vibe. With all the new buildings all over the metro, this structure should be special to all of us as the beauty of this historical building is in immaculate condition. The large windows welcome the sunlight into the black and white color scheme. A grand staircase adorns the center of the restaurant.

I've dined here for lunch twice already, April and October 2015. So sorry it took awhile to review this place. Sometimes when I like a place it takes a while for me to write something nice. While I find the food a 4, the experience is a 5 for me.

Here's what I tried:

Prawn scotch eggs with betel leaves, coconut chili sambal. 280. Despite the almost formal feel of the place, there's no other way to eat this than with your hands. In photo.

Twice cooked beef short rib with sweet and sour salad. 680. I loved the fresh Asian salad. In photo. 127775127775127775127775127775

Blackbird Fish Pie. Salmon, smoked trout, shrimp, leeks, potato crust. 740. I loved the creamy mix of seafood. 127775127775127775127775127775

Wagyu Hangar Steak with mustard butter and fries. 980. Hmmm... Wasn't as tender and flavorful. I haven't eaten a hangar steak I liked.

Grilled seafood platter with lobster tail and tiger prawns and Vietnamese nuoc cham dipping sauce. 1680. I only tried a small piece of the lobster. It was ok. I think I prefer an uninspired richer, more buttery sauce for it, or even a chimichurri. Haha. Sorry.

Mushroom, goats cheese pizza with truffle oil. 480. It was a good size. Hand made thin crust.

Crab omelette, lamb rendang, rice. 620. This could be a perfect Asian breakfast for me. 127775127775127775127775127775

Scoops of ice cream. Rhubarb, burnt caramel, lavender. These are small scoops. If you like ice cream, maybe you should order your own or a sundae.

It's a nice date place, but only if you don't happen to dine with a big group that is more noisy than normal. There is no dress code here, as with most restaurants in the metro. But it would be nice to dine with people who actually dress up. I'd love to try going here for dinner. I am guessing it's a whole different mood at night.

Super late post!! I ate here during valentine's day this year. Blackbird is a fancy restaurant with a classy atmosphere. This is the perfect place to dine with your loved one/s for special occasions. We ate during brunch time. Take note that this restaurant offers a different menu for brunch and for dinner. They have more choices for the dinner menu but I was satisfied with the brunch selection. What truly stood out for me was the dessert. The burnt butter ice cream was so good! I would rank it as one of the best ice creams I have ever tried in my life! This picture does not do it any justice. It was a long time ago so I don't remember what exactly was in it. But as far as I remember, it had caramel, brownies, popcorn and ice cream. I'm probably missing something 128517 I also had their signature burger which was good. But honestly their delectable dessert just blew me away and made me forget about anything else. I was also so pleased with the servers. They were extremely polite and attentive. All in all an enjoyable meal with my date.

The place is quite intimidating actually, I'm just happy I'm not wearing my usual short shorts and decided to wear pants for this night. If I am, I might be the only person wearing pang bahay that night! Everyone is just so formal, wearing suits and long sleeves, I am a little embarrassed with my white sneakers and blue shirt that I have to project "koreano ako kahit saan pwede nakapambahay basta may penthouse ako sa isa sa mga building dito at makinis yung kutis ko" 128517

As for the food, I am craving Italian that night so I ordered the truffle oil lasagna and buffalo mozzarella pizza and both are just plain and okay. The lasagna is drowning from cream and cheese with a hint of truffle oil making this plate fulfilling even if its small. Buffalo mozzarella pizza is also good. Not wow good but ordinarily good. Maybe I'm a bit expecting more of this place since it is visited by many looloo reviewers and also for the price I paid. They are probably using the best ingredients hence the price but my taste buds is just screaming "pareparehas lang yan!"

Will I be back? Hmmm I think yes. This is actually a nice place to date someone. Romantic, dark and fancy. But not because of the food. 128541

-late post-
After being so kept at work with my 15 hour work days I finally got a chance to meet up with my high school best friends for dinner...this was a great Christmas must do opportunity since one of us who is based in Hong Kong with her husband was coming home for the holidays.

Since this is not so often...more than half of the group is either married, with a kid/s or based out of the country we decided to splurge and make the most out of this since our other friend is ready to pop in a week (yes she still goes out)

The ambiance is fantastic and something different. Since we were a table of 12 we could not do the family style which we have been doing for the past 15 years...

We had the...
Pizza- it was great, my daughter loved it and crust was crunchy at the same time toppings were generous
Vegetarian lasagna- 3 or maybe four of us had this unknowingly ordered it. It's something different. Layers well not the typical veggie, pasta veggie and so on...it was presented well.

I didn't get to interview how everyone else found their good.

I am yet to find out for myself....looking forward to a fantastic 2016 with great food.

Was good enough but not as good as their best seller. Asked what a rhubarb is and surprised to find out it's some sort of vegetable, celery like.

Nice place. Great ambiance. It's nice to see people still dressing up for dinner. Tried their "plates" for dinner. The beef short ribs and the grilled octopus were both very tender and full of flavor. They also have a very good wine and bar list. Best of all, you can take your date on a "walk at the park" after a meal. The skyline of Paseo is still one of the best in the city. Great meal + great walk = great memories. 128523128077🏾128077🏾

Too bad I wasn't able to take a photo of the main dish I ordered - Dry Rubbed Wagyu Hanger steak. It tasted good, though I made a mistake of ordering it an hour in advance so it ended up being served a bit cold. I loved the prawn egg (again, not pictured) but you'll get served with only 4 pieces for about 300pesos. But it was good! I also liked the soft shell crabs - but I didn't like the sauce. The one thing I really loved is the dessert - Baked Alaska (pictured). It was heavenly! :) This restaurant is a bit on the expensive side. For my order, it's about 2,000 pesos in total

Last night's dinner was on point, and there's no other way to describe it but that. Blackbird's ambiance is perfect for a special night out- warm lighting, crisp whites and monochromatic interiors. The acoustics were really good even if it was a full house (on a Tuesday night, that is).

Aside from the gorgeous interiors, I cannot get over their beautifully-made Chocolate Brownie and Burnt Butter Semi Freddo with Salted Caramel Popcorn. Yes, it is a mouthful- literally and figuratively. So hungover the fact that it has three of my favorite things- chocolate, ice cream and popcorn. The combination of the sweet and salty elements made it even more delicious. I suggest pairing it with brewed coffee as it is really sweet.

Will definitely be back, Blackbird!

Blackbird lived up to the hype! Had a late birthday dinner here and everything (that I was able to taste, anyway) was amazing. 128525

I highly recommend these:
- Prawn scotch eggs. I can't explain the taste because there are so many things going on hahaha it's literally the first time I experienced an explosion of flavors.
- Their breads! I don't like how the bread isn't unlimited but it's worth ordering a few orders of this. Even the dip with it was great
- Spiced grilled chicken. If you like Indian food, this will surely hit the spot. It comes with a lot of sides too. 9786
- Branzino fillet. Crispy skin, fork tender.

I also tried their cheesecake and apple tart and didn't like them much. For celebrations, I think it's best to just provide your own cake. 128513

Interiors: 5/5 (simple white, black and grey interiors which makes it classy)

Price: 4/5 (a bit pricey although I think it's worth a visit for special occasions/celebrations)

Serving size: 4/5 (just the right amount based on the price and to get you full)

Taste: 5/5 (quite unique and interesting for me)

Service: 5/5 (attentive staffs, very accommodating, you'll really feel important)

Visited this over Saturday lunch. We made reservations. BTW, they have different menu depending on the day and time of your visit.

Ordered the Kedgeree, which is smoked trout and salmon w/ spiced rice, soft pouch & hard egg; and a 10-inch mushroom, goats cheese, asparagus, panna & truffle oil vegetarian pizza. I enjoyed the pizza very much! The Kedgeree was also good.

For dessert we ordered their best seller, Burnt Butter and Vanilla Seeds Salted Caramel Sundae. This can be for sharing and to our surprise, it's really big which is why it costs 450 Php.

Dani's choice for her grad dinner was Blackbird. I couldn't have been any happier to oblige. Booking a table was easy enough plus we had a choice of seating at the cockpit area.

We started off with Apple, Pecan, Cos Lettuce Salad with Green Goddess Dressing. Light and refreshing with a mix of sweet and sour from the apples, pecan and rhubbard vinaigrette.

To clean the palate I had Bourbon Iced Tea. A thirst quenching cocktail of Jim Beam, Creme de Peche, Bokers Bitters, cranberry, apple, lemon and ginger ale. I appreciated the slight buzz from the bourbon and the balance of sweetness and bitter.

For the mains we had the Dry Rub Wagyu Hanger Steak with Mustard Butter and Fries. This was a nice tender steak typical of wagyu made even tastier by the melted mustard butter.

Following the steak, we had Portobello Mushroom, Asparagus, Fontina, Truffle Oil Lasagna. I personally thought this was a tame dish in terms of flavor but delightful nonetheless. The creamy base melded well with the mushroom and truffle oil.

Although we had 2 pizzas, I liked the Guanciale, Mushrooms, Fontina and Thyme Pizza. (The other one was the Buffalo Mozzarella, Tomato and Oregano Pizza which I found to be to sour). My choice was similar in taste to the lasagna and felt like an extension of the pasta.

We capped our meal and shared 3 fabulous desserts; (1) Burnt Butter and Vanilla Seed Ice Cream, Brownie, Candied Popcorn, Salted Carmel Sundae, (2) Cheesecake with Macadamia Praline, Banana Brûlée and Delce de Lech and (3) Lemon Meringue Tart with Peppercorn Crust and Lavender Praline Ice Cream.

MrSweetTooth was flipping over all the fancy names and ingredients but loving it just the same.

Gave our Dani two thumbs up for her choice of dinner venue and wished her luck as she joins the "working world"!

Celebrated my brothers 44th birthday at blackbird. It was our first time here And this is my family's review.
First off, we loved the look and feel of the restaurant! Beautiful Art Deco black and white motif! Beautiful restaurant!
Second, service was very good! Attentive staff and polite servers!
Third, food. The food had mix reviews, everyone loved the soft shell crab, crab cakes, salads, pizza and my grilled octopus was excellent! Mains were mixed. The fish dish of my wife was dry and not worth the price according to her, my burger was good, my sister found her pasta plain. The truffle lasagnes were excellent! In all mains were above average! Desserts, everyone loved the cheesecake!
Great dinner at this restaurant! I would have personally rated it 5 but my family is quite vocal! I'll be back!
