Before that photo showing a great amount of tourists on Cloud 9’s boardwalk went viral, I was there in December last year and had the place pretty much to myself.

Cloud 9 refers to the surfing wave that surfers from all over the world go to Siargao for. In the area there is a board walk that leads to a view deck. I walked there all by myself and spent, maybe 30 minutes, up on the deck, enjoying the view of the sea. There are not many surfers that day and I was not in the mood to surf, I just went there for the view.

There are a few restaurants in the area but I was not in the mood to check them out. I just took as many photos as I could. One of my favorite photos is that of a local man, whom I spotted walking with a fish in tow.

When I went back to the side of the beach, I walked along a path lined with palm trees on each side. There I saw some surf boards leaning on the trees and further down the path are the surfers, resting in their respective hammocks. Some of them asked me if I wanted to surf, I shook my head no. The first and the last time I tried surfing was in Baler years ago. It was an exhausting activity and quite challenging, but not something that I found to be exhilarating. Hence, I never surfed again in other surfing destinations like La Union and Siargao. I am not sure if I will ever do surfing again, but I decided it wasn’t going to be on that Siargao trip.

Having been there, I can understand the lure of Siargao and couldn’t blame people from wanting to visit this paradise. I think though that Siargao is not yet ready to accommodate a surge of tourists unlike Palawan or Boracay.

I just hope that we would all be responsible when we visit not just Siargao but any other tourist destinations. Do not leave your trash behind, don’t throw it into the sea, and leave with just memories.

Maybe the crowd is explained by the peak season. I guess I made the right decision visiting in the time when others are busy doing something else. Being alone at the Cloud 9 view deck is one of my favorite moments in my short time in Siargao.

I got one word for this place- “PARADISE” yes this place is known to be the “surfer’s paradise” and literally, it is.

This is the famous and most highlighted boardwalk in Cloud 9 Siargao and your trip in Siargao would be nothing if you wont be able to see this beaut.

This was on my top list as soon as I arrive in Siargao. I surfed around 4pm on my first day and I must admit, from all the surfing spots in PH, this one has the best waves. Been to LU, Zambales and Baler and the waves here were incomparable.

No wonder this is really known to be the surfer’s paradise. I paid 500 for an hour surf with instructor. Time flies so fast while surfing and the next thing you know, an hour has passed already. Bitin! Haha. After surfing, I went to the tower to watch the waves and some pro-surfers.

Of course can’t miss my Birthday Surf! Went here on my 2nd day and stoked for more than an hour. Indeed a happy birthday to me!

I also saw Daniel Matsunaga surfing as well during that time, they were doing a taping for a movie or commercial I think. Mark, my instructor mentioned that they are used to assisting different actors and artists during their taping whenever they visit Cloud 9.

The best part here is the sunset view. Sadly, I wasn’t able to take good sunset shots during my stay.

Will I go back? Yes I’m coming back again this year, but not alone anymore. 🤙🏻128521

The pride of all Filipino surfer, Siargao's Cloud 9. The best surfing spot in the Philippines and one of the destination of all surfer around the world. Heard that this surf spot is among the top 10. I've been to other surfing spot in the country like Zambales, La Union and Baler, but the waves here are really much better and the reef break are really awesome. I was to get some serious long ride with the beautiful waves. Don't get me wrong other surf spot in the country are also good but Siargao's Cloud 9 are just much better. The only downside for me was the sharp stone. Got some battle scar as a remembrance. :)

This surf spot might have big waves but still they are convenient for beginners. Waves can reach as high as 7 foot and if you got it right prepare for an awesome long ride. Surf instructor that assisted our group were also very knowledgeable. They took good care of us and gave some valuable pointer in every fall. Did some paddling 101, as this is the key to every great surfer. Surf Board rental plus instructor was 400/hr. Not bad since I really enjoyed it.

Aside from the wonderful waves, the place also boast of its scenic beauty. The clouds are such a beauty. I love the peaking sun as it rise behind the sea of clouds. The boardwalk was also a great place to watch professional surfer do their tricks. This stilt walkway is also a photo ops kind of place and a place to relax. Just enjoy the scenic view.

Overall if you are a thrill seeker and nature lover Siargao's Cloud 9 is definitely a pit stop fo you. Be sure to grab your action cam and aqua shoes if you are sensitive. Best time to go surfing is before sunrise to avoid the crowd.

This is a very simple, laid back place. Nothing fancy or trendy. The staff is always helpful and fun. The food is fine and you have a good health food beach hut right up the beach and a very good restaurant across the street.

This is where all the action happens! If you're into surfing, this is the place to be!127940 We didn't try surfing because we don't have time anymore to do so. But it would be a nice experience if you get to try it. I must say that the waves here are beautiful. When the wave curls to form a 9 and you're inside it, just super cool! No wonder a lot of surfers raved about this place. Even as you watch from afar, you'll feel that happy rush to meet the waves and just go with the flow. We were told that sunset is breathtaking here too but didn't get to see it anymore. Oh well, another reason to go back!128516

The famous attraction in General Luna, Siargao Island. An entry point to Cloud 9 for the professional surfers. The illusion of the boardwalk is a photographer's paradise. And it's free.

This is the place to be for magnificent sunset viewing in Siargao! 127749

It was nice to just sit there listen to the waves and stare aimlessly as the sun slowly disappear from the horizon. Muni-muni moments at its best! 9786128076
