I'm a bread person prolly because it's what my family usually eat almost every morning. I also love meat, veggies, crunchy and savory dishes. All of that is present in a Banh Mi.

The first time I tried one was when I celebrated my birthday in Vietnam a couple of month's ago. Though every stall offers a different take one of them stood out from the rest. First bite and I'm hooked. I was so addicted that I dream of it every single time.

I heard the best Banh Mi in Manila can be found at Bon BanhMi. It got me curious of course! I was able to visit their first branch last July. The place is tucked among the unassuming streets of Makati.

The place might be hard to locate without the use of a navigation app. Its signage can be clearly seen from the road. They occupy a limited space that resembles to somewhat like an eatery.

The crew that time were Vietnamese. Some where youngsters so I assumed they are the owner's relatives. There are five Banh Mi offerings to chose from. I got the traditional style (119 pesos) which includes three Vietnamese traditional hams with liver pate, mayo and a special sauce.

I remember enjoying their take on the Vietnamese sandwich. The authenticity lies in the blend of liver pate, meats and veggies particularly the fresh and almost citrusy taste of cilantro leaves. Their baguette was crunchy but also tensile on some parts. They use hoisin sauce and the pungent, sweet-salty taste complemented the meat inside. It can be messy to eat because of the bread crumbs that fall and the sauce drips from each bite.

I was able to get a piece again from my visit in their Landmark branch last month. I was convinced to rate them four stars until today. I'm currently in Saigon and I just devoured a whole Banh Mi from the best place that sells it in the area. Comparing the two might be unfair but I can't help myself from doing so.

The one in I just tried now is from Banh Mi Hyunh Hoa and it doubles the flavors I tasted in Bon BanhMi. The baguette is crunchier, there's more meat and the liver pate is way more savory. And let's not forget about the melted cheese.

Still, if you're looking for a legit Banh Mi in Manila then this is the right place to be.

A wayward trip to Manila area found myself passing through the Kamagong area which prompted me to try one of the hole in the wall places in Mayapis st. The place was unassuming, the owner made my sandwich. Humongous bread I first thought, with the fillings in plain sight everything looked promising. Nice texture on the bread, crispy as advertised and soft inside. The fillings weren't tipid but the bread to filling ratio wasn't good. The bread was just too big, understandable to appease the hungry market. The pate and other meats were ok, just wished it had more vegetables inside to give it the fresh Vietnamese vibe. I liked the sandwich and will definitely come back with one major change, you can opt to add filling and I will double up on the next chance. Surely this review will bump up a notch or two. For P119 base price, great value for the hungry diner. My craving for a good Banh Mi is still with Banoi's....

Tasty, crispy till the last piece!

That's Bon Banhmi's tagline and in all fairness, they stick by it. It's the first time I'm reviewing them but I've actually already ordered from them multiple times before. This morning, I was nearby and decided to drop by for a breakfast banh mi haha. 128539

The place is pretty simple, don't expect too much. A couple of chairs, a counter and their menu hung up on the wall. They offer different types of banh mi from chicken to pork, etc. Today, I went for the traditional banh mi. All the ingredients and sauces are perfectly held together by a big, crisp baguette. The sandwiches come in 2 sizes - medium for 99 php and large for 119 php. Both are super filling already and are pretty sulit for me. 128076 Definitely worth stopping by for if you're in the area.

Banh Mi is a Vietnamese sandwich which I have never seen or tried in my entire existence. Sure I have been seeing a lot of pictures in IG and Erwan made a video on how to make one but I have never seen one in real life. So when I saw this in BFF with this Vietnamese looking guy manning the booth, I thought it was authentic.

I got the traditional Banh Mi and I liked it! It was delicious. Now, don't judge me coz I really do not have anything to compare it with but then again I know delicious when I taste delicious. The baguette, which was crisp and light, was smothered with homemade mayo and then filled with an assortment of cold cuts, veggies (with my favorite cilantro), liver pate and sauces. One of the sauce was a little spicy which made this sandwich even more delicious. Highly recommended!

We also tried the chicken version and since it was Cherienne who chose this, the Vietnamese guy instructed his son to remove the spicy sauce. This was equally good. Same components as the traditional but there was chicken flakes.

Now I'm so excited to discover more Banh Mi stores in the Metro!

This Banhmi took me back to the streets of HCM. It's as authentic as it gets. I can't believe I'd be able to find one here after all my many failed attempts in other countries.

This bun is all you need to try to know what a beautiful symphony this sandwhich holds.

Take Two.
This is the second time I’ve tried Bon Banhmi because the first time I tried it with Chichi T.

Today I ordered the Fire Beef Banhmi along with a side order of brown coffee, my colleague ordered the Pork Barbecue Banhmi and to reach the minimum of P300, we ordered a Traditional Banhmi we split in two. We had it delivered.

I’ve never been to Vietnam and don’t know of any Vietnamese friends, so I wouldn’t know if it was authentic. There are several components to a Banhmi that I noticed (and actually like). The bread is crispy and not crunchy. It sort of crumbles and gets a little messy to eat but I like that the bread serves as a shell big enough to hold all its ingredients. You don’t get any of the meat missing. The second component I’ve been keen on is that the meat is tender that you can take a bite (small or big) and the meat isn’t dangling in the precipice of your lips and mouth. Should you be the graceful eater, this sandwich can be eaten with poise but may require a bit of skill. The last item is that you get a dose of nutrients with the vegetables in this sandwich – cucumber, carrots and my favorite, cilantro! I can hear Mark Dacascos of Iron Chef say the “secret ingredient” which isn’t a secret anyway, it’s the pate! This spread complements the sandwich and seals it’s overall taste. It may not be to a lot’s liking but I sure as hell enjoy it!

I chose the lesser evil and went with the brown coffee. It is freakishly strong and can cause palpitations. But I’m glad my heart is strong (I feel a hugot somewhere there) and did not go through the palpitations.

Bon Banhmi lives up to their claim – Tasty, Crispy till the last piece.

Craving for banhmi the other day so I asked my officemate to call Bon Banhmi and ask if they still deliver. They agreed to deliver free if we order 3 large banh mis.

Got my usual Grilled Beef banh mi, requested for hot sauce and extra crispy bread. 128523 Yumm! Prices remain affordable although they increased by P20 already. P99 for medium and P119 for large.

However, I don't recommend it for delivery. Bread becomes tough and chewy when it gets cold. It takes them about an hour to deliver your orders. 128517

Amazing!! Definitely worth the search! My friend and I went for the classic and at the time, only the large one was available. We were thinking of splitting since we felt like we really couldn't finish a sandwich that big but, wow let me tell you, were we wrong. They make their own breads and, given that the place is fairly small, we grabbed ours to-go and took a drove a good 15 minutes before eating our sandwiches. I was a bit worried that it would get soggy and cold, as sandwiches often do, but by the time we ate them, it was delicious and crunchy to the last bite!! Five stars and five thumbs up to this amazing banh mi place!! 128077🏼

I'm loving the Traditional Banhmi. To my mind, this is perhaps the best Banhmi in town.

All positive reviews made by previous looloo diners regarding this place are more than justified.

Huge freshly baked home made baguette (deliciously warm and crusty with a nice lightly airy, spongey-chewy inside) stuffed with flavorful and tender Pork Lean Ham (Cha Lua), Salted Shredded Meat (Cha Bong), home made Pork Pate (Gio Tiu), Boiled Meat (Thit Ngoi), crisp fresh shredded greens , cilantro, mayo, pickled veggies, with a dab of spicy red sauce.

This place truly lives up to its recognition/award as one of the best hole-in-the-wall places in town.

Run by a young Vietnamese couple who brings authentic flavors of Vietnam to the Metro.

The Large Banhmi (about 8 inches) just 99 bucks. Perfect with their strong-earthy -sweet Iced Black Vietnamese coffee (just 55 bucks for a Grande size). Yummy and very affordable eats indeed!128525

Get it? Hahahhaah sorry, no connection. Haha

The best Banhmi I've tasted! For 99php, you get a full tasty vietnamese sandwich/sub goodness! Owners are Vietnamese that's why I guess it tastes authentic.

We tried the traditional, beef, and roasted pork variants. I liked the traditional and beef since they're spicy.

Place is small - they only have 4 small tables and 8 chairs. Haha

We'll definitely return for more Banhmi goodness 128055

The best tasting sandwich I've ever had, and I am not exaggerating. After reading Mike L 's review, I had to go here. Probably the most authentic Banh mi in Manila! Bahn mi is a Vietnamese sandwich made of Vietnamese baguette (more airy than its French counterpart), and stuffed with three types of Vietnamese ham, healthy greens and aromatic coriander. Sarap! I like the crispiness of the baguette with a chewy inside, and really tasty filling. Don't let the pale look deceive you. I paid additional P20 though to request for 'extra' filling. You can request upto P50 'extra'. By the way, I ordered the traditional.

Their Vietnamese brown iced coffee was also good. Truly a hole in the wall gem, run by Vietnamese migrants, in San Antonio Village in Makati. Take Soriano St. from Kamagong, and turn right after reaching Mayapis St. (Looloo's geotag will ask you to take left! Shoutout to Looloo team Peanut D to correct geotag. ;) ).

Sooooooooooooo yummy!!! Imagine, on my first bite, I felt like those toothpaste commercial models where I felt I was taken to different place!

I definitely recommend this place! It looks super konti in between but I swear the ratio is just right! So flavorful!

If you've tried the banhmi at Hole-in-the-wall, I bet you'd totally forget about that place and always get your banhmi here from now on.

Ok now I love this place haha was craving again and this time I asked them to put twice of everything inside - mayo, pâté, meat and veggies! It's the banh mi version of the double down! Hehe 128523128077127942

I finally got my banh mi craving satisfied! Hurray for migrants who bring authentic dishes to the country hehe it was almost as authentic as the one I had in HCM except for a few items: the bread could've been a bit more crunchier (he should adjust it to the moisture or humidity of Manila), I would prefer a bit more pâté and more meat but definitely this is the closest to the real thing! And no, I'm not complaining! Will be back again tomorrow haha

Arguably, the best banhmi (Vietnamese sub) in Manila.

It's best to get there in the wee hours of the morning, just to have the bread fresh out the oven.

Braving nearly two hours of traffic for this baby, I was so happy with the first bite. The bread was crispy and tasty, while the pates were flavorful! Cilantro and the sauces gave the banhmi that distinct and unforgettable taste.

Of course don't forget the iced brown coffee, with that hella strong Viet kick to it, that would surely wake you up in time for work. (For which I was late, braving through the morning traffic inside San Antonio. )

Pro tip: don't expect to dine here. It's literally a stall where you can buy banhmi and coffee to go, open from 6:30 am to 11:00 pm.

They deliver to anywhere in Makati for a minimum of 300 pesos. But make sure to order before 8pm, because their delivery guy goes home at that time. Past 8pm, they only deliver within the area.

(Learned this the hard way, having to suffer through a late night banhmi craving that I immediately satisfied the next morning. 128588)

No power at home so I'm just keeping myself busy by getting rid of backlog reviews 128532

Bon Banhmi again! This was a better experience compared to the last one we ordered. Bread was crispier though it didn't have a lot of veggies in it. No hot sauce too. At least the meat was a lil more generous.

9748️ Hope everyone's safe after typhoon Glenda hit Manila this morning!!
