Tried the new Citrus Honey flavor and it was a disappointment. Just stick to the classics, spicy and soy garlic. I don't know why they even thought of adding varieties that aren't Korean at all. Innovation? Yes but unfortunately, it didn't work.

Why did I bother to order these at BonChon?! Come for the chicken! Not the salad and crepe.. Although, they taste good.. The bulgogi was ok too.. But please, Bon Chon chicken as the name goes is good for it's chicken. The best fast food chicken aside from KfC..

Just wanted salad for a long long time.

Bon Chon was a first for me when my dad brought me to Manila a few years back when it just started. We have a condo just a walk away from Robinsons Galleria, and I guess that is where he discovered it.

Bon Chon is an international fast food Korean restaurant, franchised all over the world. It's specialty is the chicken, cooked Bon Chon Style. There are two choices for this, the first one is the spicy version, where the outer layer, is coated with flour, fried to a crisp and glazed with a spicy sweet sauce. The spiciness is hot indeed, but bearable if you've had had spicy food sometime in your life. The second one, is the Soy Garlic version. Although it says "soy" it's more the sweet kind and not the salty soy as Filipinos would think.

I love their chicken rice box meals because you can choose between having two pieces of the same part (for example, thigh - thigh or drumstick - drumstick a.k.a. leg part), and you can choose to mix soy garlic and spicy or have the same for both. That also goes for the Chop Rice Box (chicken breast fillet). Personally, I am a fan of the spicy version, but I always mix them so that when it gets too hot, I can switch to the sweet and crunchy one.

Another plus point for Bon Chon is their iced tea. I am not sure if they use powdered iced tea, or if it's blended from boiled tea leaves and mixed with lemon and honey. But even if it is powdered, I assure you that it does not fall short of the "Premium" quality that it represents. You can certainly taste the honey in the blend, unlike in some cheap bland watery version of other fast food joints. Their iced tea is thick and tasty!

Today, I tried the Bulgogi Noodles. You can order a bowl for 60 Pesos, but if you already ordered a meal, you can add it for only 45 Pesos. You get the same quantity and quality. Now, here's a secret. I just had a drinking session last night and whenever I drink the night before, I always end up really hungry when I wake up. And when I say hungry, I mean troll under the bridge hungry, like I haven't eaten for a couple of days. And you know the feeling that you want to eat something to get rid of the alcohol in your throat? Well, my comfort food or hangover food is always noodles. That's the reason why I ordered it. And I have to say, the Bulgogi soup is packed with onions, which is a really good hangover remedy, plus the taste will certainly start your meal and day right. Trust me!

Finally, I would recommend you the Chapchae (fried glass noodles with vegetables and a sweet sauce) their Chicken or Beef Bulgogi Rice Box meals.

Bon Chon is another favorite restaurant in my list and boy am I glad there's a branch in SM Baguio!

Cant believe Im reviewing this place again. BUT, only because of an annoying experience. My mom and baby brother came for a weeklong vacation, of course I have to show them around, although this is not their first time here(pasyal pasyal pag me time!). It was noon so lunch was in order. My mom wanted to eat here so off we go. I ordered 8pcs chops,
Half soy garlic, half spicy, and seafood platter. I asked them if they could separate the spicy because we have 2 young children with us. The cashier said we will know because they will put a toothpick marker for the spicy ones. They served the chicken chops first. I asked the crew which one is the spicy because I've never had one and it all looked the same. It was in one dish, and theres one piece with the toothpick stuck on it. He hesitated and said "mam, from ung me toothpick going to the left", i didnt undertand him so I asked again, this time he said, "ay mam, un pong pa right!" I asked hin again and he repeated it. So I i put a piece each on my sons plates. My youngest grab his and as soon as he put it in his mouth he started crying with matching "magsusuka"'look! He said it was spicy! I immediately gave him water and changed the chicken on his plate. Boy, I was pissed! I was about to look for him and give him a piece of my mind but my mom said to just ignore it. A part of it was my fault because i did not double checked which one is spicy or not. But, can you blame me kung high blood agad because the crew doesnt know their own product? Geez... Good thing I simmered down. Another thing, we didnt even finish half of our orders, had them for take-out cos we got umay na! All tasted the same, different textures lang with the fish, shrimp, squid and chicken. What happened Bonchon? You used to be soo good!

This branch is fairly new in Sm Baguio i think. Without the usual lunch hour rush, no waiting lines which is good, i entered and went straight to the cashier. She was very pleasant. I ordered fish and chips, soy garlic ala carte and upgraded to large fries. 145 total. Waited for about 10mins. While waiting i noticed there's more staff than customers. My order came with 3 fish sticks, a basketful of thick cut fries and a small container of ketchup. Nice presentation. I didnt order any drink cos i still got my drink from Serenitea, but i did ask for a glass of water. I noticed theres no dip for the fish stick so i asked for tartar sauce. The lady said they only have spicy mayo which cost 10php. I didnt mind but it would have been nice if it came with the right condiment. The basket is lined with parchment paper, cute. only trouble is once i started stabbing my food with fork it felt like its gonna go through the paper. Hassle cos i didnt want to use my hands. The batter is not too heavy, it was fried well, only trouble is not enough Soy garlic glaze. Save for the spicy mayo, it was borderline bland. The 3 stars is for the staff, very nice and maasikaso. I'd still go back though, cant get enough of their chicken eh!

It's just wasn't the same Bonchon chicken experience I love.

Love the ice tea though, almost similar to fave Wendy's ice tea.

I like BonChon Chicken, specially the spicy chicken. So I was really excited when I found out that they are now open in Sm Baguio. But I was a bit disappointed because the chicken chops were too dry and hard. They did not live up to the BonChon experience.
