Love their steaks, tempura, and their tonkotsu Ramen! Although the serving size is small and expensive, food taste all worth it!

This is a place we go to if we want comfort food but we do t feeling like driving so far.

My daughter is known here to be the tempura baby. She eats tempura at this place every weekend before until she finally said I want to take a break from it. She enjoys tempura or seafood in general. She is not a meat eater.

The adults always have the rolls. We always order 2 different kinds of rolls to share. The spicy tuna roll is a favorite among others. We are a big fan of their Kani salad. The ratio of the cucumber and Kani is just right and also their mayo is perfect amount.

We also ordered the shoyu ramen which was not very impressive. Although, we have ordered that before and was good.

Aside from the really nice lady my daughter always talks to, the guy at the parking is always a pleasant person to receive us.

On the not so good side, there is one lady who took my orders and I did not see any willingness to be at the place. Argh! Really bugs me, those kind. I have always been particular about the servers since when I or my family goes out to eat, I feel as if it's my/our time to relax and feel stress free.

On another note, they deliver in the area! Great plus side!

It was really good! The food was very tasty and looks yummy! The menu needs to have pictures or else for someone like me who doesn't know much about japanese cuisine, will have no idea what it would be, unless u ask the waiter. Hahahaha!!! I always go for their California maki" kani salad, and others that i forgot the name. 128516

It was a rainy afternoon and we were stuck in the heavy Better Living traffic. More than an hour crawl led us nowhere so hubby decided to stop and take an early dinner. I originally wanted Army Navy Burrito but it'll take us a lot of time (and gasoline 128521) to get there. Good thing we saw Bono Tei.

I've had good experience here - food and customer service wise so I was confident that we'll get the same this time around. Boy I was wrong! 128548128548128548 It started off with the resto signage - CLOSED. I knocked since I saw some service crew inside but they paid no attention. Good thing one server was just about to start his day and opened the door for us saying that they're already open. There was absolutely NO URGENCY from the staff that were already prepped-up and it was as if they didn't want to start operating yet 128544128544128544

Then our server - doesn't know what customer service was all about. She served our orders one at a time - literally. I had to ask for their house tea which they usually serve with the place mat and utensils. She served each dish with a heavy hand, creating a loud sound as it landed into the table. Then I asked for 2 extra chopsticks but she gave me one and then gave me a saucer 128561128561128561 We also had to call her attention several times to have our remaining food packed and to bill out! Really bad service!

Anyhow... I still liked their food ---

Chahan Rice - best fried rice ever! You can eat this on its own. Loved the generous serving of ground pork, veggies and egg in a starchy rice with a sweet and salty sauce. Only down side is the serving - a small bowl that could pass for a cup of rice for 120php 128557 I paired this with their Gyoza. Nothing special here. It was obvious that they took it out of the freezer and then dunked into boiling oil.

Hubby got their Katsudon. The pork cutlet was a little hard. But overall, the sweetness of the sauce and all the other Katsudon elements were there. No wow factor.

Since the little girl wanted some noodles so we opted for a bowl of Miso Ramen. In all fairness, the soup was rich and good and there was generous serving of chasyu. But then again the noodle quality was bleh. Everything about it can be compared to lucky me 128555

Then my daughter surprisingly wanted to try some maki. She took her pick from the menu and we ended up ordering California Maki 128518 Maybe it was the picture that enticed her. The hubby helped her eat and gave her a lecture about the use of the soy sauce, had her try wasabi 128514128514128514 and ginger. Amazingly, she liked California Maki.

We had high expectations for this place after seeing so many cars parked outside driving along Doña Solenad for several instances.

The gyoza promo they had was enticing as well. The food was okay but not that of something to rave about; the spicy tuna salad was just average and for the teriyaki bento sets they had - pretty pricey for its quality. I'd rather splurge on a Little Tokyo food trip than this.

Overall - the service and ambiance had the Japanese feel, but for food, it kind of disappointed our expectations of authentic Japanese food.128517

The waitress can speak nihonggo! Sugoi ne! Ordered spicy salmon salad, okonomiyaki, chef special maki. Will never order okonomiyaki again, seriously, why does it have to taste like bread?
Spicy tuna salad is too spicy for me but my husband said he would go back here for this. Nothing special on the chef maki.
I would go back to eat again but will order their other specialties.

They can't handle too many people, very poor service, it took us about 40mins. for just 3 simple orders. 230 php teriyakidon for a small bowl of 1 cup rice and 4 strips of chicken was a ripoff. Miso soup lacks potato daikon leaves and tastes bland. California maki is just so-so. I hope they could serve better in the future!

Mixed sashimi - excellent in taste but serving isn't for the famished

Tempura - winner! Size and taste were awesome.

Bacon asparagus - also perfect. Size is just right.

Tendon - yummy!

Squid (ika) - tasty.

The green tea - very good.

Overall, food was great, only improvement that can be made would be speedier service.

Nonetheless will deft come back. :))

After having dinner, munching on nachos and cheese w picante, finishing the espasol while tearing up at the ending of Armageddon on Star Movies, my sister suddenly craved for something else to eat.... At 10pm,

Lex, Bono Tei??

Game! Hahaha since the restaurant is a stone's throw away, I just tied my hair, kept my specs and drove to the place.

I initially wanted to get ramen or katsu... But decided to get maki and tempura instead

Tempura --- way better than the prawns I tried in Tonkatsu by Terazawa. It was fresh and HUUUUUGE (380 for 5, 240 for 3)

Mt Fuji Roll -- I wasn't paying as much attention but my sister said, it had salmon. I hate salmon but I liked this one.

Buta -- porkloin yakitori... Good but small. Heck it was only 70bucks. Reklamo ka pa? Haha!

Enoki w Bacon -- this looked funny coz they cut the long mushroom stems. They were tiny! And at 160, I didn't feel it was worth it

Miso -- too salty so we asked them to add hot water which made it better :)

It was a good meal for midnight snack :) I'd definitely go back to try their other food. One of the few restos I bothered trying in my area :)

Oh the damage was about 1400 (too pricey for midnight snack LOL)

We left smelling like food, so I kinda didn't like that... Thank goodness we were 30seconds away from the house.

***Had more than a pot of free service tea... So ended up sleeping at 3am last night, thanks Bono Tei haha!

A new Japanese Restaurant near home just opened! Bono Tei!

Yay! I was so excited to try it out, wanting some Ramen of course. We stopped by around 10am and they were still closed but when we inquired, they were kind enough to let us in. Their menu was extensive! It was so hard to choose! They've got every Japanese dish you can think of - sushi, maki, sashimi, gyoza, ramen, yakitori, katsu, bento, soba, steak, yakiniku, donburi, etc! No specialty at all! Honestly, I wanted more than a hearty bowl of ramen and their menu was so tempting! Anyhow, we managed to decide and got the following ---

128073 Miso Ramen - the broth was so rich and flavorful, not too oily and had the right saltiness. It also came with thick slices of tender meat. But I didn't like the noodles - they were thin and soft, the instant kind. But for the price of 200php, I think it was okay.

128073 Tofu Steak - the tofu was firm and reminded me of the square kind that you get from the supermarket. It seemed to me that it was exactly one of those! Lol! It was perfectly fried, a little crunchy on the outside but still soft when you bite in. The sauce it was smothered with was a little sweet but I liked it. I also liked the welcome taste of garlic in the sauce. It was also served with some thin fried garlic slices on top together with some ground meat.

128073 Katsu Don - the hubby's favorite! It was perfectly fried, crunchy breading and tender meat. The sauce had the right blend of saltiness and sweetness.

128073 Mixed Sushi - the usual sushi sampler, clean raw salmon and tuna, ebi, some maki and some fusion. It was okay.

It was also the first Jap Resto that I've tried that serves Green Tea Matcha as their house tea. We usually get ordinary black or green tea but I was more than delighted with what they served us!

The restaurant was simple but was spacious, with a second floor to boot. The servers were attentive and were not shy to suggest best sellers. Overall, I liked the visit. I will surely go back for some quick Japanese fix!
