A catchy signage along the strip of T. Morato, N dropped me off in between this cafe and Afters. I opted to try this first, then i will be transferring to Afters 128517 #becozineedtokilltime

Upon entering, no doubt it is really a library cafe. With it's brown shelves on both sides and at the far end is the bar and cashier section. 128522

The place is really nice but it didn't gave me the cozy library vibe. The seats were colorful, and a bit small to share for four people per table. The couch area looks nice but did not give me "that" cafe vibe. Most of the guests dinning are business men or perhaps those who work in marketing. 128522

I got myself a hot tea - jasmine (110php) but requested to have it on ice. As experienced by other reviewers, the lady cashier seemed like she did not know if my order was possible, she then had to ask the barista who then answered me that it was okay.

Coffee and tea drinks are priced around 110-140php in 8oz cups. A bit pricey (IMO) 9749

The place is okay, i think 1 square table is too small for 4 pax especially if the setup is 2 pax at 1 side, i tjink their main goal is to seat more people, the ambiance is okay but you can actually smell what's cooking from their kitchen, when we entered there's this sour smell all over the cafe.

Food wise the chocolate over iced is okay, too much cream even for a person like me who loves cream, the adobo flakes is okay i don't like the sauce too much.

Service is fast though.

Overall it was an okay experience.

Haven't been here in a while and they now have new items, including smoothies. I ordered their Strawberry Smoothie and I found it too sweet.

Why order wings on a coffee shop right? But you have to try their wings because it's very delicious!!! They have 2 flavors the original and the spicy one, I ordered the original flavor but it was still spicy to my taste. The wings were well coated with the sauce and well seasoned that's why it was delicious. I also ordered iced mocha (no pic), it was refreshing, the iced cubes used were in fact cold milk, how cool is that?

Two-hour break from work so I went here for some hot drinks... I always look for hot drinks whenever I have colds... Hot teas are my usual pick but after seeing they only have tea bags, I opted for the Salted Hot Chocolate... which unfortunatrely I did not like. Too sweet, saan ang salt? Sana tinanong muna kita Ruth D128518128518

Also got a slice of their matcha cake because, just because, and because...matcha. It was okay. Too sweet for my liking. Again, saan ang matcha? 128541 I liked the matcha cheesecake more...which I can't see in their display. Too lazy to ask why. Sana out of stock lang.

We were supposed to have breakfast at Black Canyon but they are still closed when we arrived, the only establishment open was Book and Borders.

I read a couple of reviews about the Morato joint and i was pleasantly surpirsed to see that they are stepping out of their cocoon and decides to branch out in McKinley. First, i think the concept is nifty, books and food is the perfect combination. The interior is modern, white is predominant and of course - Books. They have a pretty good selection of reading materials - fiction, biographies, coffee table books just to name a few. And yeah, they have Umberto Eco stashed in theis shelves.

Menu is limited. They have coffee, caffeine free drinks, a couple of pastries, two types of sandwiches, three for pasta and breakfast food. We ordered flat white and MGTL (not on the menu, ask the lady behind the counter if they can make some), fried tuyo with kesong puti pasta, corned beef with garlic rice and eggs.

I like their version of MGTL, creamy but a little pricey, i paid php 170 for a small cup. The flat white is good as well (not as good as Toby's but this is a good alternative for a quick flat white fix). He seemed pleased with the corned beef. The pasta is mediocre. Too much oil and lacks the extra oomph of flavor i was looking for. This could've been better if they added a lil heat. I even asked one of the servers if they have chili flakes, he offered tabasco for some weird reason. The fried tuyo flakes and kesong puti tastes oddly good. The dish doesnt include parmesan sprinkles on top. Not sure of it is part of the dish but i think pasta sans parmesan is incomplete.

Service was fast. The lady behind the counter is attentive and friendly. I totally forgot that their loo is not operational and the cash register is not working.

Book and Borders needs a lil improvement. Fix the loo, add parmesan jars and chili flakes jars on your condiments roster, and dont charge too much fot the MGTL.

Finally I found this place I've been eyeing for this since last year. The place was cool for all the Book Lover you can borrow the book that you want while you are having a dine in food. So Tuyo with Kesong Puti caught my attention though I'am not eating Tuyo still I tried it. Pasta was okey I don't like the Idea of combination "Kasi nga ayoko ng tuyo" lol.

My friends and I had our dinner at Alab a few weeks ago since two of them just came home from abroad. After the dinner, we went to Distillery and after that while walking we decided to have a cup of coffee. We ended up here since starbucks was crowded.

The place was so inviting outside so we ended up here. It's well lit, colorful interiors and decorations, but I found it too bright and seems things were out of place. Chairs were a bit uncomfortable, not good for reading books for a long period of time. I love both coffee and book but I not gonna read a book inside.

I forgot mostly the name of our orders coz 3/4 of the coffee in the menu were unavailable. I just remembered the coffee I ordered.

Flat White. It's good but a bit different unlike the one I tried at El Union Cafe and at Craft. I found it dry instead of being velvety in texture.

Salted Caramel Cake. It's a bit dry but the it's ok. A bit sweet for my palate.

Blueberry Cheesecake. Nothing special. Too small for the price.

Service was ok. The cashier should be knowledgeable regarding their products coz she can't answer some of our questions. They should put an unavailable sign too on the menu, so it would be easier to order. Money was not worth it, I found it expensive for the small servings.

So after that really disappointing dinner over at Nihonbashi Tei, we decided to have dessert next door. It was like hitting two birds with one stone considering the very limited parking in the area.

I have read reviews from Ruth D and Roy Lambert T about their inconsistencies but still decided to give it a try.

I got their Flat White, and an order of their Matcha Cheesecake (thank you April H for recommending!), which I really really liked. We also got one of their other cakes; I think it was their Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake. It did not leave any lasting impression on me, though. I got to try my brother’s Matcha Frap, but it lacked flavor.

Service-wise, it was generally okay, but the cashier has to learn more about what they are offering. She kept asking the barista about the drinks and it was pretty time-consuming.

Apart from food and coffee, they do have some other items for sale near the bar. I was so tempted to buy one of their bookmarks!

I don’t think I will hang out here again because of their lack of parking spaces, but I would definitely agree to getting their Matcha Cheesecake to go!

Oh, before I forget. They do not have soy milk for your drinks. I really wish coffee shops would consider lactose-intolerant Asian customers. 128517

Library and cafe combined? Well, this is it This cafe offers a light and homey feel. Unlike other cafe that's a bit dim and regal. (Of course it has to be well lit otherwise how can you read your book)

I loved the interior however the tables.. It really is good for 2 person. Why place 4 chairs? I like the colors of the chairs though.. Upon entering, I was not even greeted by the store manager. I went straight to the CR and then barista greeted me.. Cool... I went to the cointer and asked if my orders are going to be taken at the table or shall i pay as i order in the counter. They told me it my orders will be taken at the table. So then i ordered truffle mushroom pasta, cinnamon hot chocolate and finally matcha cheesecake.... But before that, i was about to order red velvet but then came the millionaire question: i asked
"Is your red velvet cake food coloring or natural?" the waiter already used up his lifelines finaly calling the store manager.. She does not know so i ended up with that matcha cheesecake.
Well. I'm in search for the naturally made red velvet cake. Naturally made means you dont use red food coloring. The red color is a reaction from the coconut milk..
128204truffle mushroom
Fettuccini pasta. The bechemel sauce was quite thick. Mushroom and bacon is natural. The truffle is not that strong (i prefer stronger actually).. The white onions.. I noticed them at the end.. Quite ok.. The garlic bread were quite tough..
128204cinammon hot chocolate
Small serving. Really thick.. Whip cream and cinnamon powder on top... The truth is the cinnamon flavor ends there. All the way is this thick milk(quite heavy) chocolate. chocolate dpends on your preference.
128204matcha cheesecake.
Yum. Truly the combination of the darks. Dark matcha and dark chocolate.. Dark chocolate crust aswell. Liked it... No. Loved it

The waiter.. Presented two options: pay now if pay later. I payed prior to serving the food.. The damage was quite heavy. I can say. Of course it's a cafe. 'Ho tan' naman lahat.
I conclude prices could improve pa.
Service should be more active.
Ambiance and food is great.

At the end.. It got me questioning... Why is it just book and borders... Why not books and borders or book and border?
Does it say because it means one book and many borders? #questionsinmymind

I'll let the picture do the talking. This is my third time to go to BnB and I love this place to bits. I decided to try the new additions to the menu and I am disappointed with what I ordered. This is the most expensive rice meal and I don't think it's worth the price. Meat is cooked okay, mashed potatoes is bland, and mixed veggies are soggy. Kindly revamp your presentation of the barbecue liempo because this set is very overpriced to me.

I visited Book and Borders again because two of my kids cancelled, meaning two hours all for myself. I'd feel too bored if I just stay in the clinic doing nothing so I decided to do something productive, that is to have a date with my planner and reflect on how busy I will be on the next two months before the year ends. 128517 I was actually choosing between Afters and B&B but ended up here because I wanted to try their other cakes.

First thing I noticed when I went in was the previous comfy couches + short tables were no longer there. They're now all the standard tables with their cushioned colorful chairs. I'd say I prefer the couches before. The whole place felt more like a resto or a library because of this. There were still some couches, specifically the one near the bar though. Also, i think the table's size is not proportionate to the chairs, it's too small for four chairs to fill.

On this visit, since I've tried their famous matcha cheesecake already (and liked it), I tried their next bestseller - the salted caramel chocolate cake. This cake was also good! 4.511088️. They know how to make their cakes ha. A bit sweet but liked how chocolate-y with a hint of caramel it was.

I also gave their Guava brewed iced tea a try and i think it was good. I was informed they really brew the tea on the spot so it gives a more fresher and more authentic taste. It did. I think it's quite expensive though. 128513

Service was okay. Nothing wrong during this visit, so good job!

Oh and the Christmas decorations were good. Together with the Christmas songs being played, the place sure made me feel Christmas is near! 128516128516

Disappointed, yet again. They posted on Instagram that they have new items on the menu. Turns out they're really on the menu but they're not actually available to be ordered. The cakes are listed but what you can only have are those available on the display. That doesn't make sense to me. The new drinks? They're not available too. I ended up ordering an English Breakfast tea by Twinings.

I've been a very busy person lately due to my 45unit load in school. Which means I still have to bring along my materials with me on weekends I want to somehow relax my mind. What? Lol yes i know but sorry for the bit of confusion... I can't just go all out.

Anyway, so what I do is coffee shop hopping instead. In line with my late obsession for coffee (ow yes I'm an enthusiast), I tried on this one for the first en perhaps compare, if there is any to, with where I usually get my cup.

I had this brewed coffee. I have high caffeine tolerance so I always wanted mine on a bigger serving. Unfortunately, they don't have one. Plus I found it overprice. This cup costs me 110-115php? Oh no. I wanted to try on other menu but nah, started with a not so good of impression to me

Late post review

Went to Timog last 3 weeks ago. It was a Tuesday afternoon when I need to go there and need to claim something but it was a bad day and I wasn't able to claim it so decided to go to my dads ofc but his not around then try to meet my friend living nearby and she's not available so I decided to have a new Foodtrip to forget that bad day.

I end up at Book and Boarders Cafe. Finally I was able to try it. I've been heating a lot about this place. If your a book lover , you'll like this place. READ.SIP and DINE!

The place was relaxing and if you want a quiet place to stay this one is for you. I don't know whats the best seller. I got chicken penne pasta then iced mocha. Price range is 150 per meal. I am not a pesto fan but to be fair the pesto taste good and has huge serving so I had it take out. But pesto is not my type. They have wifi there and service was fast.

They have cakes there , maybe I'll try it next time

OVERRATED.

My friend and I also have plans of putting up a "library cafe", but this is not what we were expecting. We envisioned more browns than colors - meaning shelves and shelves and shelves of books, plus couches fit for lounging.

Books. Their books are too mainstream. I see only popular writers, more young adult. They have one block from the shelf for the classics - but only the popular ones too (i.e. To King A Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye, etc.)

Food. Too much coffee. Bitter taste. Haha. Supposedly, I ordered a flat white, which is milk (/coffee with lots of milk), but I had to ask for more milk, and get a sachet of sugar and creamer. My friend got Ice Mocha tho I could barely taste the mocha. And the salted caramel cake we tried was dry. Disappointed that it's not that sweet...

We just enjoyed ourselves by reading children's books (Peppa the Pig!!!) but again, we feel that it was overrated.
