Alternative Rock doesn't feel / sound right when you're dining in a Chinese restaurant. Hindi bagay. May disconnect somewhere.

Anyway, we ordered the following:

🔺Zhenjiang Ribs 110881108811088
🔺Fried Rice 110881108811088
🔺Hakaw 1108811088
🔺Siomai 110881108811088
🔺Egg Soup (free) 1108811088110881108811088

I was bothered with the music although I like the genre.

As my mom was craving for Chinese food, we had our lunch here. We had their pork buns, ribs, and chicken.

As I have said in my 1st review, the pork buns here are really delicious and I think I prefer it over Tim Ho Wan's (hashtag no hate pls hehe 128514).

I really liked their ribs - it was really flavorful and it came with bread too.

Their chicken is good, we were even able to choose which part we can have, and as usual, we chose the breast part. I, for one, think that this dish is good as is, but my mom requested for sauce lol.

Anyway, service is fast, and we didn't have to wait so long for our food to arrive. 128513

Frequently go to Power Plant, but it was only a week or two ago that I got to eat at Boon Tong Kee. I don't know, it just never appealed to me tbh. Not until I saw the displayed pork buns and the fact that I wanted to have something to write about in these foodie apps lolz.

Anyway.

So we went and ate here. We got their pork buns, siomai, fried beef fillet w/black pepper, fried rice, and something we didn't order: pork noodles. lol my mom ordered a chicken dish but they seemed to have confused it with the pork noodles.

The pork bun was good and I think it'd be a filling snack to get on the go. Didn't like the beef fillet, texture was too tough for me and I just didn't like the taste of it. Fried rice was alright. Pork noodles was good, although in the middle of eating I saw what seemed to be a small insect (roach huhu) floating around. Called the attention of the manager and they assured us that it was just some sort of spice and asked us if we wanted to get a new one - to which we declined. Our appetite plummeted hahahahuhu, but they did remove the pork noodle thing from our bill though, so that was nice of them.

Service is good, they serve their food fast. Ambiance is just okay.

Will probably come back, but only for a merienda of pork buns and siomai hehe.

The food was disappointing! I ordered congee, Gabas, Siliman and chicken feet. ALL and I mean ALL were disasters!!! The hakaw was hard and you could not discern the shrimp. The Siomai was mealy and the congee was soupy. The chicken feet was tasteless. The review summary suggests. NEVER AGAIN!!

Only the chicken rice registered well in my palate. Their boiled chicken is passable. Don't order the thick crab meat soup. We also found their sweet & sour pork and their cereal prawns pedestrian. One thing going for this restaurant though is its attentive servers.

While we haven't dined here for years, we couldn't pass up the chance to try their pork buns at their kiosk on the ground floor. As part of the festivities for the Chinese New Year, several merchants are on the ground floor offering oriental delicacies.

Served warm, the bread was soft, the filling generous. At 40 pesos a piece it's almost the price of the Tim Ho Wan buns that are way better than this. But I still liked it enough to give it 4 stars.

Chinese New Year is fast approaching.  Some malls have their signature homage for the approaching festivities.

Power Plant has food stalls that sells Chinese fare.  One of them was Bong Ton Kee.  They sell dimsum,  pork buns (steamef and baked)  and laksa.

After dessert,  i decided to get some laksa for takeaway.  Reasonably priced at php 90, the serving is just right.  Noodles,  bean sprouts,  tofu,  shrimp and the laksa broth.  Asked for extra chili garlic oil,  just in case the broth aint spicy enough for my standards.  Best decision as the broth lacks heat,  i even added chili powder and oil to reach the level of spice that i prefer.  The noodles are soft,  despite the lack of heat the broth is flavorful.

Food was good. I liked the Singaporean chicken. Service was bad though. The appetizers came after the main course. They also forgot the other orders so I had to cancel it. To top it all the place was not even full. I am a bit disappointed.

Cereal prawn was too salty. Roast chicken was bland. It's not Wee Nam Kee so lower expectations. To the lowest level. They didn't even include the other premium bun in our takeout bag (which was the one thing I ate that tasted good). Instead, I got a doggie bag of shrimp heads from the cereal prawn we ordered. Guess someone from their staff went home with our premium bun. Lucky bastard! Never eating there again.

Saturday night is strictly family night, we eat dinner together regardless of the time and place, well luckily we tried a new restaurant last night

It was my first time to try singaporean cuisine so i just let them order and for me to try em all 128517, well i was able to suggest them to order laksa even though i have no idea what it was, my team leader keeps on mentioning it to us so when i saw it on the menu i ordered it immediately. Well i had a hard time trying to capture photos of the dishes we ordered since my family is not a fan of trying out new foods, this is the first time they saw me making a review about food and got weirded out 128563

Anyway, dishes were delicious, the taste is distinct and quality is great, my laksa came in last so everyone got so curious about it, i was kinda surprised coz none of them were familiar with that dish despite the fact that they've been to SG before, well i likes it, at first look you'd expect it to be super sour and extremely spicy but when you try it, its very creamy, with just a hint our lemon grass flavor and a kick of spiciness, the egg noodles looks like its not supposed to be there but when you take a sip and bite from it, its perfectly good alongside with the seafoods incorporated in it.

I enjoyed it a lot, looking forward to try their other dishes next time 128522

When is Boon Tong Kee going to close? I dont know what theyre cooking anymore. Check out this pork belly. It was so thinly sliced, & its overly charred. there's hardly any meat & this is the second plate ~ I've sent the first one back to the kitchen.

Not as flaky as eight & Tim... But not bad... Less sweeter than Tim ... But Eight by choi IMO still has the best buns 9786

Their pork bun is a delight. We also ordered roasted duck, wanton noodles and their spare ribs marinated with coffee sauce. We find the last one too sweet but the rest were okay. They have lunch set menus available on weekdays if you are looking for non-fastfood value for money meal options (hainanese chicken rice, spare ribs rice among others).

Lunch buffet 388++

WALANG WHITE CHICKEN!!

They have the following on the day I visited

Egg Drop Soup
Roast Chicken
Salted Fried Rice
Chicken Rice
Something Noodles
String Beans something
Butter Chicken
Salt Pepper Spareribs
Beef Something
Pork Sisig
Dessert

Mostly the food tasted a lil too salty. You have to wait for the roast chicken because they are rationing it and preparing the replacement when the first is empty. The butter chicken looked like squid. No idea how the pork sisig became a part of the buffet but it has no business of being there.

Bottom line ... WALANG WHITE CHICKEN!!

Having tried the original in Singapore - the local version is close to the real thing.

They serve the fried buns too which is great eaten with the crispy roast chicken. Good mix of the salty chicken skin with the sweetness of the bread.

Service can definitely improve, but close enough.
