Borough had it's fair share of spot light in |ooloo a long long time ago. People went crazy for their Mom's Milk and Cookies even visiting the restaurant during the wee hours of the night. Eastwood, Rockwell and Podium - they've got a good following back then. I've long been wanting to visit but never really had the chance. Why? I really don't have a reason. Fast forward to this year, only the Podium branch stands. Now, Podium is far from home. Factor in the traffic - so hard for me to visit. I've had several chances of visiting since they operate 24/7 but I'm always too full from a party. Then came this lovely day where a meeting was set just around the area. More than just the meeting, Borough was on my mind as well. It was easy to decide dinner will be at Borough.
So it happened - Borough on a weekday. Unexpected.

I didn't expect anything when I entered the restaurant. I didn't look them up, didn't checkout the pictures of the place and only had the Milk and Cookies in my mind. But as I stepped inside, I was greeted by a dim place that had ample light to set the mood for the night. A play of wood and unfinished walls, spacious and not cramped, high ceiling with a second floor to boot - I fell in love with this place!

It's rustic charm and overall masculinity was dotted with feminine details that made it so appealing. Flowery seat cover, simple yet pretty yellow flowers on each table, mirrors of different sizes decorated a white wash wall - all these stood amidst industrial drop lamps.

There's so much character in this place. If you're lucky to visit without the usual late night noisy crowd seeking alcoholic drinks mostly, you're in for a romantic treat. Perfect for some peace and quiet, the place was cozy.

Looking at their menu, hubby chose to order their Classic New York Lasagna. Pegged at 390Php, this came in freshly baked, pipping hot with a good amount of melted cheese on top! The cheese was lovely, perfectly melted with those burnt sides that gave off a certain crunch. Each lasagna sheet was layered with Ricotta cheese, home made tomato sauce, ground beef and sausages. It wasn't the creamy type of lasagna but the balance of the tomato sauce and cheese was perfect to give this just the right marriage of flavors.

Mom's Milk and Cookies was my only order. Pegged at around 220Php, it'll take a while before this gets served. A part of their dessert menu, I was so thrilled to finally get to try this! I know it may sound ridiculous because Milk and Cookies are two things that you can easily grab from your pantry at home. But, there is something so comforting with freshly baked cookies and a cold glass of milk! When my order came in, the smell of cookies got me excited! Brought me back to those days when I used to bake cookies non-stop! A dozen cookies of 3 different flavors and a small bottle of milk in a bucket of ice, served with shot glasses - even my husband was excited to try!

We didn't waste anytime. The cookies are best consumed warm. A shot glass of cold milk served as the perfect bath for the warm cookie! Each bite was heaven! Felt like a child all over again! The milk was flavored and was a bit sweet. The cookies were warm, crunchy on the outside but so soft and moist inside. One flavor had nuts in it, another had bits of white chocolate and the last one was more like a ginger bread cookie.

So in love with the food and the mood that I requested to bring the kids with us back to Borough on the same week! Just about 4 days in between visits, I got to eat Mom's Milk and Cookies twice in a week! Lovely!

On our second visit, we also tried their Baked Mac & Cheese since it's my kids' fave. Priceed at 320Php, this has Gruyere x cheddar x mozzarella, this was topped with Panko crumbs for that perfect golden brown burn. This was good too! Though a little bland for my liking, the kids loved it! Maybe this would be best with bits of bacon.

Their Grilled Cheese Sandwich was rather famous. It was one of their offerings that I was also giddy to try. For 280Php, served with warm Tomato Soup, this was rather underwhelming. The Brioche bread was too thick, IMO, but had a good portion of butter which I liked and had a good crunch. The cheese needs something else for it to stand out. The mix of Mozzarella and Cheddar was not enough to make the cut. Though the tomato soup was good, not too sour, I also found that it needed a bit more of a cream.

On our second visit, we also got the Mom's Milk and Cookies which my daughters loved! We got chocolate cookies this time in place of the ones with white chocolate bits.

Lovely lovely place! Never mind the grilled cheese, I would still highly recommend this place! Since it also operates 24/7, best time to go here is late at night!

I'll be back for more, Borough!

Borough night with my friend last Thirstday ... ooops ! I mean Thursday!

We're back for our favorite Margarita (P150 /glass) and Fries in a Basket (P160), a best seller served with Borough's Odessa Sauce.. garlic flavored dip.

Whats new?! The place has its Quiz Night. There's a group of facilitators of this game night. More of trivia questions that will challenge your knowledge. Interesting! Every table gets to join. Prizes are given to top 3 groups with the highest points.

Place: Its Jampack! Especially, from 5pm to 8pm, where cocktails and beers are Buy 1, Take 1. Crowd are more of yuppies!

Food: this place served good food (tried it during our last visit). Plus its reasonably price128522 i love their Margarita127864

They have the BEST grilled cheese I've tasted so far! Perfect pairing with their tomato soup 128076🏼 P280 is not so bad at all, considering the serving!

Plus, this place is 24hours open, so it's a perfect recovery food place after a really long day, or when you're craving at an unholy hour haha

Welcome the weekend with my dear girlfriends. Since its raining, our plans of hanging out in City Golf did not push thru. Its like a last minute that we thought of Borough. Cozy and relax place inside Podium Mall.

Ambiance is still the same since the last time I visited. It has this Tavern-ish aura, with spotlights and floral chairs. Customers are actually different kinds of ages, from yuppies to oldies 128521

We are lucky to do reservations, and place is jampacked at around 6PM. Happy hour starts from 5PM to 8PM. Cocktails cost P150, while Beers costs P80 (thats for 2 drinks).

I had Margarita. Its chilled and strong. Its great♥️128077🏽 its a perfect drink for the weekend.

For pica pica, we had fries and buffalo wings. Nothing spectacular, but we find it good.

Truly thankful that one is open after mall hours. We wanted to get some drinks before heading home. Ordered San Mig Apple (Php90) and then for pulutan Chips and Dip (Php110). Cozy ambiance for a chill evening.

The Boroughs is listed in Spots Magazine's Best Grilled Cheese and it's well deserved! 128076 Though I'd advise to always eat the sandwich with its paired tomato soup to balance the flavor. I almost drained my soup early on and had very few left to counter the saltiness of the cheese. But it's all good! I still like their grilled cheese combo. 128571

I was really thirsty before going home last time so I had to go to Borough. Of course I ordered their Chips and Dips and a bottle of beer. Perfect combination for me. 128541 I told myself that I won't be eating too much but I found myself ordering a Margherita pizza as well. Hmmmm, good for one. 128514 The strong taste of the tomatoes was evident. I also liked the smell of the basil leaves. Pizza is pizza so I loved it. But no, I wasn't able to finish one order (4 slices). PG, eh?

P.S. You can actually rent the 2nd floor of Borough for private parties and gatherings. I remember I inquired before but I already forgot the rates. 128540

Do you fancy a Heavy Breakky? Lunch plans? Afternoon grumble? Dinner date? Or Post-Party recovery? Well, Borough is always open to satisfy your cravings at any time of the day. Serving you New Yorker Appetite Realness. Located at the very unnoticeable part of Podium, I say... Do not judge a food bar by its entrance. And uhm, bring cash, it can get pricey in there.

Loud, unkempt and haphazardly furnished, this place has turned a full 180 from its past glory. Everything on the menu is the same but the quality has diminished. What was once a nice watering hole for yuppies after a long day's work has now transformed into another run of the mill bar where people talk obnoxiously and gulp down San Mig Lights. And I may have overlooked it, but do they serve their fabled grilled cheese sandwich anymore?

I know that this is go to place when you want to just hangout and drink with friends, but i always end up ordering mom's milk and cookies from the menu. It is really good, might think it is quite pricey, but the cookies are perfect. The waiter usually advise the cookies available for the day, i had white chocolate chip, oatmeal and raisin and apple cinnamon. The milk is quite sweet, and served on a bucket of ice.

Milk and cookies!!! Cold milk with 3 flavors of freshly baked cookies: white chocolate chip, peanut butter, and ginger. I loved how it was really cold milk and fresh cookies! Best way to enjoy both of them together. I didn't really like the ginger flavored one before, but dunking it in the milk first before munching made it all better. 128522

Wished they had more milk, but also wished I wasn't so lactose intolerant. Huehue

It's kinda weird that this will be my first review of Borough as I've been here for a hundred times already. Yes, some exaggeration there. 128514128584

Borough is open 24/7 that's why this has become my sanctuary if I need to drink after work outside BGC. I always partner my beer with their Chips and Dip. It is their own potato chips with sour cream and onion dip. This is good for two.

I also like their Brooklyn Omelette. Very delicious! It has lots of cream cheese and is filled with herbs. Trust me, I can consume 2 orders being a fan of omelette. 128517

P.S. They serve cookies with milk. You can actually ask them to give you shot glasses, you know for milk shots with friends instead of tequila shots. Geez, so corny of me. But I have tried this already. Yeeeeha. 128541

My sister absolutely loves their Serendipity 3 and those times I went with her made me love the drink too. It's described as an alcoholic Frozen Hot Chocolate on their menu. It consists of vodka, chocnut, chocolate syrup and cocoa. A bit disappointed at how it looked last week because it didn't have that mountain of ice on top. I even showed an old picture to the servers and they just said it was over blended. They didn't offer to redo it so we just asked them to inform the bartender. Tastewise it was still spot on. The vodka was really there but not overpowering.

There was a DJ that night and they dimmed the lights when he started playing. Great music too.

The Chef Recommended Asian Tuna Burger (P460) was very filling! It has a soft but chewy tuna patty that's very easy to eat. I was drawn to the interesting garnish of soy-ginger spinach, portobello (not sure!) mushroom and wasabi mayo. It's a bit salty for my taste, but I still like this burger! 128077

Night cap with the beau, we insisted on meeting up no matter how late cause feelings yo!

Got "The Bagel" Php425, filling but lacks salmon, the eggs were a creamy delight but the buns were hard. The establishment seems to be complacent for they have a steady market of night owls who don't mind paying extra for averagely delicious food and phenomenal milk and cookie dessert.
