Merienda/Early dinner at the Fiesta Market and we had one thing in mind - Buddy's Pancit Lucban. We ordered the serving for 2-3 people which was generous and could be shared by even 4 people. It was served on a banana leaf placed on a wooden platter. We requested for plates. The plates were a bit rundown and some edges had chips. The overflowing pancit was hard to mix and most of the meat and vegetables were placed as toppings. The Pancit was still as good as I remembered and mixing in some vinegar gave it a different flavor profile.

Buddy's for me = Pancit Lucban. But this time, I decided to try Miki Bihon out. It did not disappoint! It was so delicious, with lechon toppings as bonus, similar to that of pancit lucban. There were a looot of sayote though, but im not complaining, sayote is a vegetable, anyway 128522. Proof of our hunger and how delicious it is? We weren't able to take a picture, we immediately went for it 128515.

Luv, luv, luv their sizzling Teriyaki squid w/c is quite a large piece. Even if it's in sizzling plate it doesn't toughen the squid. Quite reasonable for less than 200 bucks. And of course the pancit lucban w/c is eaten with their own vinegar sauce. Quite surprising at first to put vinegar, but it does taste different in a good way. Do like their kesong puti pizza, too. Hehehe xoree the food went out so fast, before i even thought of takin snapshots! Wahaha128077128523128079

Good food, nice festive ambiance (but quite intimidating from the outside), but very casual, and affordable too. :) Pancit Lucban was good, bangus sisig was also delicious, but the most remarkable for me was the lucban longanisa! :) would go back to try other dishes.

Aside from my favorite pancit habhab, they serve yummy spaghetti too. Pinoy-style, but not as sweet as Amber's. It has lesser hotdogs too, but they use more ground meat.127837

Pancit or stir fried noodles is perhaps one of the most popular dish served in special occasions in the Philippines, it’s so popular most of the provinces have developed their own versions which features local ingredients. Several samples of this Philippine noodle dishes are the Pancit Palabok, Pancit Sotanghon and Pancit Cabagan to name some.

If you look closely at each one them you will notice the use different cooking techniques, different type of noodles used as well as the use of different vegetable ingredients but all of them are served on a plate or a bowl and that what Pancit Habhab is known for, not using any plates or bowl. Yes you’ve seen it right no utensils! it is usually consumed in banana leaves by shaping the leaves like a half tube and slide down the pancit on one side then on to your hungry mouth.

The serving vessel is what makes this dish unique and it is attributed to the street vendors of Lucban during the days when styrofoam and plastics are not popular, the disposable banana leaf was the hygienically ingenious way of serving this on the streets. It also gives that distinct flavour as the hot pancit over the banana leaf would bring out the oil of the banana leaf. So if you will try this out I suggest serve it on banana leaf to get the real authentic taste.

Pancit HabHab from Lucban is definitely a perfect dish! Have it here at Buddys! eat with skewered Pork Barbecue you will definitely go home with a SMILE.

The thought of drizzling vinegar all over Pansit hab hab and devouring the sumptous hardinera in Buddy's are some of my humble priceless moments as a foodie. I can't help but drool everytime I pass by on their different branches across the metro. Seriously you guys, why do I only see a number of reviews on Buddy's? Their Pansit Hab-Hab and hardinera are to die for & deserve my effin 5 star rating (yeah! Haha!). Here's a brief description:

Pansit Hab-Hab (P220 good for 2-3) - made of stir fried noodles, sayote, carrots, shrimp, leafy veggie, onions & crunchy minced porks. Pour the right amount of vinegar and let the pigging out commence!

Hardinera (P80 good for 2) - imbotido meets menudo, It's a meatloaf dish usually cook in a llanera. The combination of pork, hard boiled eggs, tomato, pickle, beef cube, hotdog bits, roasted sweet pepper and pineapple chunks (and more! Haha) are nothing but delish!

So visit one of their branches or call Buddy's deliver hotline service & indulge to these lucban native dishes! Happy eating!

Bonus Tip

--eat it while it's hot!
