I tried out a new burger joint in Taft Avenue. The place is called Burger Avenue. It opened just this year in the area in order to cater to the students of La Salle and neighboring universities and condominiums. This isn't the pilot branch however. They have one in The Fort Strip which has been actively operating in the past 7 years.

According to the owner, Sir Martin, the idea of a burger joint was conceived out of his love for burgers from his childhood up to his adolescence. He described himself as having a preference for buns over rice meals. His idea has proven to be successful as evinced by the fort branch. In order to improve the clientele base, he then established a branch in La Salle. He also takes pride in the fact that the prices are uniform in both branches to demonstrate his belief in consistency. I'm sure this was another key to his success.

After the short interview, I got down to what I do best - eating! As for the food, I'd give it 5 stars out of 5. The meals presented the right mix of taste, value, and serving size without being pretentious or too bourgeoisie. This means that the meals are a value for money for the typical private college kid or working adult. I'd say that these burgers capture the typical urbanite taste for meat and bread, coupled with the standard fries. Take for instance the cream cheese burger. The fat filled dish was still worth consuming due to the creamy texture of the cheese filling, coupled with the moist beef patty and the fluffy bun. Add to that the excellent size, and you have something that's fit for a king. The side dishes are excellent too. The onion rings gave a vibrant taste of crispy breading and caramelized onions without being too greasy or oily. The serving size is reasonable too.

Another remarkable side is the crazy fries which is comprised of chili con carne and cheese toppings coupled with a generous serving of thick potato wedges. This meal, as you have been warned, is known for its very spicy taste. Chili aficionados should gobble it down in no time at all, though.

For rice lovers, the burger joint has them covered. Martin showed me the chodobo, which is essentially a greasy mix of adobo, egg, and chorizo coupled with yellow rice. It did remind me of arroz a la cubana, a Mexican dish transported to the Philippines via the Galleon Trade. Burger Avenue's version, though, presented an excellent mix of the ingredients which are well cooked and peppered with top notch spices.

I couldn't end with my litany of praises for the food. The same goes for the drinks. I did try the strawberry shake artfully served in a mason jar. While a bit lacking in the creaminess department, the flavor was vibrant and reminiscent of fresh strawberries with milk. The drink did a lot to make my day. To say the least, it was still excellent in terms of quality.

The food price ranges from the 100 to the 200 peso range. Very reasonable for students with a bit more to spend, right?

In sum, my experience in Burger Avenue was memorable. I would recommend it as one of my favorite burger joints in Metro Manila.

Burger Avenue, Taft branch is now open and ready to serve the La Salle students. Burger Avenue first branch is located at The Fort Strip and operating for 7 years. So let’s go and start our Burger Avenue adventure!
I had Chodobo P175, a combination of chorizo and adobo with a sunny side up fried egg on top. I actually wanted to try their burger, but the name of the dish made me want to try it. Good thing it didn’t fail me! As I expected, Chodobo was very rich in flavor, obviously because of the chorizo.
Jam had a Wasabi burger ¼ lb P145. I tried her Wasabi burger. The burger patty was not dry compared to others, it was juicy and spicy! Good thing she ordered a strawberry milkshake. Burgers are 100% pure beef, grilled fresh as you order, topped with homemade coleslaw on an Oat Brioche Bun. Miss Kim served us their Crazy Fries P90, the fries will really drives you crazy because of the creamy cheese and kicking chili con carne. I’ll definitely come back for this!

Try their burger now! :)

Well I think the photo tells it all. There are many of these nasty creatures all around the place. It is not cheap. But hey there is extra protein all around the place. Maybe that is why.

This is their overrated Ridiculous Burger which was definitely NOT like the one in their poster. 3 beef patties were just ok.. But the lettuce was too few and the cheese slices was next to non existent. The tomato slice was too thin.

When you get a burger here, make sure you order lots of add-ons like the chili con carne and whatever cheese and garlic sauce they have. You'll need those because the beef itself has no taste or flavor whatsoever. Tried it 3x, wala talaga.

Mas maylasa pa ang Burger Machine.

Got the garlic cream cheese burger. I'd say it was very good, not great. Pretty decent size overall, although the burger patty itself isn't huge. I really liked the garlic cream cheese.

Also ordered a side of fries which were very good. The burger, fries, and a SML totaled 280p, which I think is a pretty solid deal.

I'll definitely be back to try out some different things.

I enjoyed the french fries really love it in medium cuts. The burger was okay I odered Cheeseburger Avenue. Probably Bacon melt is great but I already ate bacon earlier today so I choose Cheeseburger instead. I have the feeling the bun that they serves me like 7-10 days older. The meat is juicy and tasty they have hot sauce which I adore a lot. Their regular size is big for me and thick but not as big diameter as champ. Since I live near probably will make bacon melt a try next time.

Me and my colleagues went here this afternoon for snacks. 3 of us ordered their so-called featured(?) burger, which is the Silly burger. Its name is logically derived from tagalog word "sili" or chillis. As it is, it's a spicy burger! I also added a single order of Onion rings.

Serving time took 15-20 minutes. It's okay, we're a group of hungry dudes. 128108128108128108

From the first bite, okay, it seems tolerable. We also learnt that there are a lot of chilli bits in the burger patty itself. Wow that was hot!? 128561 As I made my way to the core of the burger, I suddenly felt my eyes are drooling and that "sweaty" feeling. It lasted up to the last bit. But yes, at least I survived this silly burger, and yes the 3 of us! 128513

Burgers, for me, is one of the best meryenda especially when you're at work or just 'wala lang'. Burger Avenue has been one of my choices for burgers, aside from Jollibee, McDonald's etc etc.

One lazy afternoon when I decided to eat here instead of Wendy's (for Baconator). I ordered one of their Something fishy selections, which was the Tuna Cheese melt, together with Onion rings.

The onion rings were good, but the tuna melt was somehow disappointing, for me. Nothing too special and not worth it. I wish I just ordered their other burgers, instead.
