Afternoon tea with a view, but definitely not the place for good food. Expensive, mediocre and service needs a lot of improvement. I slightly felt bad for the service team since the place is huge and they had very few people going around attending to the needs of their customers.

They offer good quality of beverage choices, but that’a just it really. Another thing I noticed is that with the blue mac n’ cheese served with beef pepper flank steak, the chasseur cookware used is rusty! Don’t tell me it’s part of the design because it surely appears to be old and needs to be replaced.

I got an invite to attend “Martell Cognac: A symphony for the senses” at the C Lounge of Conrad Hotel. Thank you Ojie D! 128522

For the first time I was able to see the lounge and it was spacious, elegant and huge. The interior inside was absolutely stunning with breathtaking view of Manila Bay outside.

The event was hosted by Martell’s Brand Ambassador Pierre Boyer, introducing cocktails using Martell Cognac:

This cocktail was invented in France, likely at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes (French Riviera). It became an instant hit in London. In 1922, Robert Vermeire from the Embassy Club published the first recipe in Cocktails - How to Mix Them.

A Julep is an ancient medicinal solution that was used in France in the 1600s. In 1784, it became a proper drink in Virginia, mainly consumed by sugar plantations workers. The first recipe of a 'Mint Julep' with brandy appears in 1833 in Transatlantic Sketches, by Captain J.E. Alexander. In 1862, the master Jerry Thomas indicates to use Cognac for the Mint Julep in How to Mix Drinks. The Mint Julep has since then become a favorite summer American drink.

“I’d like to pair the Sidecar with Macarons and Lemon Tarts or with any desserts while for the Mint Julep, the flavor was so refreshing, it is really good with any savory dishes like the wagyu burger, chicken wings and various seafood dishes.”

Overall, having an afternoon cocktails using Martell Cognac at the C Lounge of Conrad Hotel makes me feel relax while enjoying the magnificent view of Manila Bay.

The place is nice but prices here are quite steep, then again, this is a hotel lounge. Anyway, had their cookies & cream hot chocolate. Taste-wise it was bland. Service was okay. Might come back next time to try their sandwiches.

Another sidetrip to the C- Lounge called for a spontaneous nightcapping 128522 loving the evening mode even better...in al fresco taste...the interiors were great but I just prefer coffee moments, outdoors 12852210084128077🏻

This time we tried the Clubber Sandwich, shareable for 2-3, and comes with fries and dips! Pretty much a good steal! Hot chocolate comes in 3 flavors... Last time I tried Hazelnut...this time I opted for Cookies & Cream! Great-tasting as well! 128522128077🏻10084

I've visited a few times and I loooved the cocktails and the wine. The view at sunset is TO DIE FOR.

That aside, this review will be about the food.

I really enjoyed their cocktails, the wine and the view. I only took away 2 stars because the Seared Calamaretti, Tomato Salad, Ink Pearls and Roasted Bread didn't have any of the ink pearls mentioned. I mean, considering it's a hotel and the price point of really small servings of food, they should be forthcoming when their dish won't have the complete ingredients as stated in the menu. They listed my order under "Something More Substantial" but it really wasn't and was pretty sad. 128556

If I weren't so hungry for food that day, I'd pass on my first bite, odd because I just had lunch 3 hours prior. There are days that just require more food. Visit for the drinks and the view.

DRINKS (4.0)

The Poptails (350 - 400 PHP) are the highlight here at the C Lounge. Just imagine basking in the grand environment of the luxurious Conrad hotel with a view of the famous Manila bay sunset, while you hold a round rock glass of their Limoncello Medley mix, as you stir it with a frozen popsicle of the same concoction. Experience the high life at Conrad.

FOOD (2.0)

Pita Chips with Hummus and Carrots (280 PHP)
I've just recently expressed my love for all thing hummus, so my knowledge base is still limited. This dish delivers on the smooth feel of the mashed chickpeas, a perfect pair with the sunset view.

Prawn Tempura (590 PHP)
3 pieces of deep-fried prawn with a Wasabi Mayo. A satisfying treat to eat, just turn a blind eye on the price. In respects to that I do think the view merits the debit.

Salmon Sashimi in Soy Mirin, Spring Onion, and Sesame (460 PHP)
Marinated Salmon and lettuce that's it. Expect a simple dish that's easy to understand and will fill you mouth a smooth flavour from the salmon and garnished greens.

Steamed Chinese Butterfly Bun with Honey (540 PHP)
Imagine taco, but the shell is similar to siopao bun. The barbecued pork was tender and had a satisfying hint of honey sweetness.

Tuna Rice Bowl (390 PHP)
If I must come back for meetings I'd order this since it has rice. Well seasoned tuna p

Jamon Serrano and Mozzarella 'toastini' (460 PHP)
Beyond the expected hotel pricing this is just too underwhelming. The white bread clearly wasn't toasted enough to hold the Jamon Serrano and Mozzarella, which made it soggy and just sad considering the ingredients used weren't cheap, preparation was the culprit.

Really loved nightcapping here, despite the indoor Cobonpue designed furnitures, and metal cut-out ornamentations, we preferred the private outdoor lounge facing the panoramic MOA Boulevard, having a great view of the deep and dark Manila Bay by night, the illuminated MOA Eye and the active stretch of dining places and watering holes.

Tried out their Hot Choco with this fabulous presentation on a black slate, and mixing the choco stick into the milk, it comes with toppings such as marshmallows, cereals and almond nuts 12852210084128077🏻127881127926

Also tried their great tasting American Cheescake which had the right moisture, and their artsy Pana Cotta dessert topped with this crispy sweet-mild sour-ey thin cracker which compliments it well 12852210084128077🏻

Though it's not located on a high level, I loved the cosmopolitan feeling of it, like being on a rooftop 128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻128077🏻

Looking for a new and lovely hotel lounge to chill with a good and extensive selection of wines , cocktails, pica-pica , and chill out music with a view of Manila Bay to boot? C Lounge of Conrad Hotel Manila can easily be that perfect venue.

The place carries the new hotels high ceilings, accent art piece decors, curved and sweeping floor-to-ceiling glass window facing Manila Bay. Adorned in dark gray hues, dark granite and marble bar and counter tops, heavy yet modern leather bar stools, cozy lounge chairs--interior wise, the place promises a perfect lounge-bar venue.

Numerous tall wine cases that serve as dividers are nicely integrated into the sweeping design. They also have outdoor terrace lounge sitting facing the bay (unfortunately on our visit, the rains forced this section to be closed).

On early afternoons, the place also doubles as a tea lounge.

The best time to enjoy the place would be towards sunset and through the night. Sip on your preferred alcohol fix, nibble on your fancied pica-pica, while enjoying the famed Manila Bay sunset in the company of friends.
