Celebrated my 22nd birthday dinner with fambam at Cabalen west ave. This time filipino dish haha enough of my chinese food obsession. Their price was a bit cheaper than other buffet restaurant plus their kare-kare and sisig was superb9786️ but their dessert table was not that nice..

Its my wife's birthday and I decided to have our lunch at Cabalen. Cabalen has maintained it's standards when it comes to serving excellent Filipino cuisine. They maintained the consistency of taste and quality of their dishes served making their patrons come back. I love the wide variety of Filipino food served in Cabalen. In fact, some of the food served there are the one not usually seen in any household yet a very Filipino dish. It's fun to try new and Filipino dishes some time. I was referred by Rufina C to join the #loolooiPhone6giveaway!

Wanted a buffet dinner with a low price last night, and Cabalen's rates start at 289 or 298, can't remember but it's cheap for a buffet. I didn't like it much here because it's not much of choices, and their Crispy Kangkong isn't crispy at all. I only liked their Native Longganisa and the Ginataang fish. Also, you have to add 40 pesos to avail their unlimited iced tea. The place and ambience was nice after all, real Filipino vibe. And nice staff :)

I don't remember having to try this place before, my visit last Friday explains why but I didn't expect a first impression to be that bad. I know that they've been in the business for decades now so I don't understand why their staff is still uncertain of simple restaurant SOPs.

I called to make a reservation for 12, after having to be placed on hold several times, the lady on the other line advised me to just walk-in since there is a deposit to be paid if we are going to reserve some seats (like seriously?!). And so we went, I decided to arrive ahead of the rest of the family to secure seats for all of us. I entered the main door and did not know where to go. There was no reception or anyone to talk to, everyone seemed extremely busy. Apparently, we would need to share the whole place with a couple of events with at least 50 guests each. After seeing how chaotic the place was plus the sad and very minimal food selection available, I called my dad and advised him of what's "in store" for us. But since this place is a favorite by my uncle who is now based in Australia, we all decided to just make the most out of the stressful dining situation.

The only available seats were the ones located in the middle of the place, right next to the buffet area. We also had to take two separate tables since they just couldn't accommodate and they refused to open the second floor for us. The food were all flavorful but they do not replenish as often as they should given the crowd that night. They also ran out of liempo which none of the servers were able to confirm politely. Their karekare is just thick slices of fat and skin drowned in orange sauce while their chicken curry has chicken ribs in yellow sauce. My brother said selection and service wise, their Trinoma branch is far better.

One word to describe this experience - traumatic. It almost ruined this rare family occasion we shared. The rest of our stay we just spent taking funny pictures and decided to just laugh the whole chaotic dinner all out.

I used to love this place. Sadly the quality of their food isn't that great anymore. Most are oily and salty.

No offense to the host of the lunch. We went there because of a friend's kid's christening. We are not very much a fan of buffet. Cabalen may have been popular for something, unfortunately, i don't know what it is. The only good thing was that my daughter enjoyed their kuhol! I enjoyed watching her pick the shells. 128521 They don't get to eat a lot of fast food, which is why the daughter would eat food that a typical kid won't. I really did enjoy seeing her having a good time with the kuhol. Plus, good friends, good laugh.

As for Cabalen, I wouldn't go there If I were to choose. I'd rather go to Dad's/Saisaki. They are a lot better.

Best time to go is really early, as in opening time. After that, eat at your own risk. Two words: Just choose ;-)

Quantity over quality since the place serves food at pretty low prices. But you can taste the large amount of MSG they put in their food. The good thing in this place is their Crispy Kangkong with the dip. Unhealthy but so good!

Eat at your own risk... Its the worst buffet resto that i've been into. The food was cold and bland. Food selections was few and theres only two waiters in there. I'll never come back!
