When in Via Mare there is only 1 thing to order ad that is oyster... Since it was an impromptu reunion we ordered oysters crispy pata and kare kare. Via Mare never falled to wow us with their offerings. Cheers.

Office mates and I went gaga over puto bumbong so we head over St. Luke's . It's convenient because it's just across our office building... We ordered pako salad, bagnet salad, tortang talong,, lumpia ubod, tinapa rice and of course puto bumbong for dessert... all the food we ordered are all spot on! Downside? You have to endure queue..128514128514. But it was all worth it...128077128077128077128077128077

After a follow-up check up, I had a quick lunch date with mom and my sister before going back to the office. My sister chose this restaurant because she was craving for dinuguan. Instead of eating it with puto, she got half of my rice and just ate the puto for dessert. Mom had palitaw and a hefty serving of guinataang halo-halo (one of my Via Mare favorites). 128522

My default order is their Tortang Alimasag. Crabmeat omelette served with fried spring rolls on the side. For less than P200, you get a sizable portion of omelette and they obviously didn't scrimp on the crabmeat. Best eaten with steaming hot rice and dipped in ketchup. 128076🏼

We had lunch here after all the tests I did.

We had ensaladang bagnet, sirloin tapa, pancit molo and another meal with crab meat. 128513

Ensaladang bagnet is always my favorite. The bagnet is crispy! 128513128513128513

Sirloin tapa is like bacon but not cooked crispy like the bagnet.

Pancit molo is delicious, served hot. Perf!

The crab meat was okay. 128076

Service was fast. Place is cozy. Food is great. 128513

I'm here again at the hosp. 128542 Such a sickoo. 128546

My dad and I had dinner in Via Mare. Giving them 3 stars only because of their famous bibingka and their accommodating staff. 9786

I had the crisp adobo flakes. Oh yes! Agtangha?? AG- agahan TANG - tanghalian and HA - Hapunan. 128514 More likely sounds like that. The service was definitely fast. No complain about that. Even the requests were granted right away. But the adobo was 128078! Too flaky. It tasted like dilis or basta far from adobo. We also had bibingka which I liked. I don't eat much of bibingka but can't resist. 128513

I frequent this branch the most .. I don't know why the servers here are utterly amazing, caring and accommodating .

Last time they got my orders wrong .. The server stayed in the kitchen and my right one was served under 8 mins even if the place was full, makes me feel special& taken cared of 9786️ & he kept apologizing the whole time... And I got free dessert... Yay...10 stars for the service128077128077128077128077127881‼️‼️‼️

Love the all day breakfast... tuyo being my fave .. But I ate too much rice with it... So chose Tocino instead today & it's great as always... Tender juicy and flavorful .. Perfect way to start my day right 128076 ... Ohaÿo everyone 128139

Arroz ala Cubana

Sorry that it doesn't look so appealing. I brought it home for dinner and because the container they use cannot be sealed thoroughly! Nakakainis, so when i opened the cover they were all mixed together! The ground beef tastes okay but the bananas are tough na.128524

✅Spicy Tuyo Flakes (P198)
"Spiced dried herring in olive oil with garlic and spices"

✅Tokwa't Baboy (P172)
"Fried tofu and boiled pork in garlic-soy vinaigrette"

Confession time!

Tuyo absolutely freaks me out!

Throughout my life I've had several bones that just decided (for the hell of it) not to go straight down but lodge themselves in my throat. And I've been traumatized each and every time.

Just look at those stray bones on the photo!

It's uncomfortable yet not painful. And it's something that just goes away after a while. But the whole experience is sheer agony. It's like you want to use your fingers or tweezers to pull that damn bone out. That is, if you only could.

Manning up and facing my fear, I ordered me some tuyo. Reminding myself, with every mouthful, to chew the suckers into hazard-free paste.

Even with those constant advisories running through my head, I was still able to savor this breakfast delicacy. And it just goes so well with garlic rice, dry-scrambled eggs and vinegar

Come to think of it, is there a Filipino breakfast fare that doesn't go well with this combination? Tapa, tocino, danggit, bangus, etc. – they all go well with that aforementioned trio!

The only problem was that the tokwa't baboy was the odd man out. Since it had vinegar in it, it only competed with the tuyo meal instead of complementing it. Although it was my fault for pairing the two in the first place.

It would have worked well on it's own or combined with a different dish.

In the end, it all worked out well. Consider that one factor of fear faced!

Service is very good. Servers are neat and clean, very attentive, fast and very courteous.

The place is clean and spacious. Tables are big and chairs are comfy.

I tried the Bibingka with Salted Duck Egg. I don't eat much of pinoy merienda food but I liked this one. It was served warm, maybe freshly baked even, and the bibingka's uppermost layer had a slight crisp on its edges. I don't know if it was kesong puti that was melted on top but it was slightly salty and creamy. I liked it as a whole. 128523

My sister enjoyed their Dinuguan and my mom also enjoyed their Ginataang Halo-halo.128522128077

Mom and sister enjoyed a bowl of hot goto and freshly cooked puto bumbong while waiting for my sked at St. Luke's.
128522 I look kawawa coz I was just staring at them while they ate. 128542

It looks delish! I know their puto bumbong is good and has always been one of my faves. 128523 The food was gone in 10 mins. Hahaha.

Service is so slow though! Haay.

I'm making this review for Via Mare's Daily Juice located on the 6th floor of St. Luke's Main Bldg just outside the hospital's gym..perfect for patients, doctors & nurses like me who aspire to load the body with vitamin C once in a while.

I'm sure not everybody knows it exists.
I'm sorry that i forgot to take the picture of their mini-shop and the menu of course (i will next time!)

I ordered a combination of Avocado, banana and guava (forgot what it's called) for 180 pesos. It tastes good to me..knowing it's healthy, plus ang mahal haha!

They also have Guyabano mix, and one i remember having before was Rambo-Rampage- this one's the best! Also costs 180 pesos.

✅Crisp Adobo Flakes (P293)
"Shredded pork adobo, toasted to the right combination of chewy and crisp perfection"

This has been my go-to order in Via Mare for the longest time. Even though they've been serving Adobo Flakes close to four decades now, it still never ever gets old. For a bit of trivia, this dish was actually added to the menu on the year that I was born. So how's that for a connection? 128522

I just love how the flakes are so dry and crispy. And even if this adobo comes in a different form, the components of vinegar and garlic still shine through. Quite unlike other versions which end up becoming gummy or tasteless, sometimes even both.

In 2011, the Inquirer did a feature on this restaurant best seller. Filipina food maven and Via Mare owner Glenda Barretto was generous enough to share the recipe of her beloved creation. And I made sure to cut that article out.

I've kept that clipping but have never tried it out. I guess now's a good time as any. My only consolation is that, at least, no one has to make a review of my cooking. What a relief! 128517

✅Bibingka with Laguna Cheese and Salted Duck Egg (P115)

Keeping with tradition, I ordered the bibingka as well. Unfortunately, it wasn't the same bibingka that I was used to. I feel that it's quality has gone down through the years.

The one I had was a bit bland, like it expected the salted duck egg to give it flavor and character. I remember removing the egg slivers as a kid and being happy and content with just the floury concoction. It is the base of this dessert after all, with everything else that is on it just there to enhance the dish.

It's still good enough to order though. And I'm surely going to stick to this combo for a couple more decades.
