My husband is a very picky eater. So for our year end food date we went to candy's cafe and he was very skeptical... What can a "cafe" offer, during lunch time, to please his taste buds?

Then the food arrived. On his first bite, he smiled. I knew he hit a jackpot! He loves your baby back ribs, chicken skewers and death by chocolate! Mind you, he doesn't eat cake.

For that five stars!

Before we found out our flights from CDO to Manila were canceled due to the typhoon, six of us enjoyed a feast at Candy's. We tried the following dishes: Chicken Skewers, Pesto&Chicken Pasta, Bolognese Classic Pasta, Spinach Pizza and their most popular dessert Tartufo.

The Chicken Skewers is their bestseller and very deserving of its title. It was the perfect blend of rice, seafood and chicken.

Their pastas are worth-trying as well. My personal favorite is their Pesto and Chicken Pasta. The Spinach pizza was also a nice choice for us. It's great to pair with any red-sauced pasta. Each order can be shared by 2-3 persons.

Lastly, I enjoyed the Tartufo, one of their most popular desserts. It's a spherical icecream cake which is already sliced when served. If I wasn't too full from the previous meals, I would've ordered another one. The cake itself has the right amount of sweetness and the icecream inside is a perfect match!

Each person in our group paid around 300 pesos. The ambience is also nice compared to other restaurants inside Centrio. I would love to eat here again when I go back to CDO. I'm wishing they have a branch in Manila. :)

The venue and interiors may have been changed but it surely will satisfy your hungry belly.

We always order the Four Cheese Spinach pizza to share.

I had some hickory ribs, soup, gambas, and tapa. Tartufo for dessert.

So good!

Their famous Tartufo. A little too sweet for me but I really love how every peso is worth spending on this treat. It's a layer of chocolate candy shell then a layer of fudge sponge cake then chocolate candy shell then ice cream with hot fudge inside. Split this with my boyfriend and a friend :)

We went back to candy's to get some pastries which my friends were going to bring to Manila as pasalubong. Since we just came from our lechon lunch, we were craving for something sweet for dessert. We decided to try out the other desserts here since they all looked so pretty! This time, we got sylvanas, a blueberry cheesecake, and sugar-free carrot cake.

Sylvanas - taste was good, but it would've been better if it was served frozen.

Cheesecake - crust was blah - taste was bland and it was crumbly. Would've been better with more butter and sugar IMO. The rest of it was pretty good though for a no-bake cheesecake. At least, I think it's no-bake. Haha!

Carrot cake - pretty good for a guiltless dessert but it was kinda dry. Would've been better if it were more moist, but then maybe it won't be guiltless if they tried to do that? Not sure how to make cake moist. Haha!

While I don't regret trying all those sweets, I would only recommend the TARTUFO to anyone looking for desserts in candy's.

Candy's is another highly recommended restaurant/cafe in CDO. We first went to limketkai, but unfortunately the branch there was already closed. So, we went to Ayala Centrio and luckily got a table with sofas. The ambience was nice and the furniture/decors were really pretty.

They serve a wide variety of food including pastas, salads, sandwiches, other entrees, and desserts. I was torn between a salad and the ratatouille but since I've been eating salad the last couple of days I opted to go with the ratatouille instead. My friends and I shared a margherita classic pizza in addition to their roast beef with mashed potatoes and spinach and ricotta ravioli. For dessert, we shared the tartufo, which is a chocolate cake served with ice cream inside.

We found the tomato based dishes (pizza and ratatouille) too sweet. I think it may be the tomato paste/sauce that the used. But they weren't really bad, they were just too sweet for our taste. The roast beef was kinda sweet as well. The winner for the night was the ravioli. It was really cheesy and creamy! Yummmm 128523

The tartufo was also awesome! The combination of vanilla ice cream and moist chocolate cake was just perfect! Will definitely look for something similar in Manila!

All in all, it was a pleasant experience. It was quite pricey, but we had a good time! I would recommend this to friends/family going to CDO. 128516

We had pizza, four cheeses and margherita classic,; chicken in curry sauce; and baby back ribs. We also ordered for a couple of salad dishes, house specialties - the Japanese roasted sesame sauce and the other one in vinaigrette. And a trio of noodle/pasta dishes, bolognese, olio and phad thai. All of these were bruited to be good but my not not too discriminating taste told me otherwise. Sometimes if you have nothing good to say, it would be better to keep your mouth shut. So, I now zip my lips.

The cakes that we had were just ok, nothing to quack about - death by chocolate and the sugarless carrot cake. It seems that CDO is not able to offer anything exceptional or just plain good food. CDO's gastronomic delights continue to remain too tight a secret from me Kindly help me get over this depravity. If there are places in CDO worth visiting even hole in the wall outlets, please do tell me ASAP.

No doubt the best dessert place in CDO! The tartufo cake left me speechless and happy in every bite! ++ I gotta say i'm still pretty clueless of how the vanilla ice cream stayed cold amidst a hot brownie exterior. Food gods, share me your knowledge!!

This place offers the best cakes ever here in CDO. When your here you must order their famous Tartufo cake. It's basically an ice cream cake. The vanilla ice cream is wrapped around a chocolate cake and in the very core of it is a small honeycomb. This is perfectly for sharing. 128077

They do not just offer cakes only they also offer salads, entre├Ęs, pasta, pizzas and sandwiches.

Their spinach pizza is also a must try. It's so good and very cheesy. It's just a bit expensive though. Other than that it's a 128077128077128077

The staff are always welcoming and very nice. The ambience is also good, good airconditioned place. They have an al fresco for people who wanna smoke or just chill outside.

The pasta & pizza were great but their tartufo truffle dessert was fantastic! It was a big ball of brownie with chocolate on top and was filled with vanilla ice cream & peanuts inside. Yummy!!!

Fantastic dessert choices, delicious bistro choices, and a really nice place to chill. A definite must-visit place when you're in Cagayan de Oro.

My last visit to this place was way before looloo was launched. But I believe that a great place like Candy's deserves a shout out. Hence, this "delayed"review. It's a good thing I still have the photos of the food that we devoured in my phone. Its also good that the place has been 'loolooed' by happy looloo reviewers.

Cagayan de Oro, a city down south, known for their pineapple plantations, pink sand beaches (Camuigin), lanzones , and their adrenaline rush adventures- white water rafting, tree -top walking, and zip-line. But more than all these features that are already printed in tourism media, I believe that CDO has another gem- Candy's.

Candy's is located in one of the city's malls, the Limketkai Center. Our host in the city insisted that we had to try the place out. So we headed for the place for lunch.

An outdoor predominantly white lounging area/bar greets you as you enter Candy's. Partitions divided by white gauzy curtains and throw pillows, floor level couches. Gives you a feel of chilling out in the beach. Yes, apparently, Candy's transforms into a bar after dinner!

The cafe is small but modern (minimalist?). The first thing you notice when you enter is the dessert counter proudly displaying their sweet offerings (128077128077128077128077). The menu list- a good number of choices ranging from Med staples and Filipino.

We ordered the Four Cheese Pizza, the Pizza Margherita, The Chicken Satay with Pineapple Rice, and the Seafood Pescadore with Pesto Cream Sauce for our main. The pizzas were great- thin crust, freshly made and baked, generous toppings. I particularly loved the four cheese flavor. One thing's for sure, they didn't scrimp on the ingredients. The Chicken Satay was yummy- sweet, good peanut sauce, moist . The Pineapple rice128077128077served in a pineapple shell with lotsa shrimps. sarap! the Seafood Pescadore was excellent! Crabs, scallops, prawns, squid, and kani generously topped the pasta that was drenched in a very good creamy pesto sauce. Oh boy, I miss this!

Desserts!

We ordered the Mocha Sambo, the Black &White Mousse cake, and the Chocolate Ice Cream Cake (Candy's take on the Tartufo.) We wanted to get their famous Sansrival but it was out of stock128078. The Mocha Sambo was huge ! It has the texture of Sansrival -crunchy merengue layers with creamy sweet coffee flavored butter in between. Sprinkled with chopped cashew. 128076. The Black&White Mousse Cake would easily be a chocolate lovers pastry- layers of dark, milk, and white chocolate mouse in between chocolate cake. The piece de resistance was the Chocolate Ice Cream Cake. It was practically Tartufo heaven! A big ball of dark chocolate cake with ice cream in the middle!128163128163128163128163 oh boy!

Serving sizes were rather generous- can easily serve two. Price? For the quality and quantity, definitely cheaper than Manila's fine eats.

I know this is miles away from Manila, but if you guys get to go to Cagayan de Oro, be sure not to miss on this great food place. And for you guys from Cagayan de Oro, I envy you people for having Candy's !

I'll definitely come back to this cafe when I visit CDO again.

All of our friends from CDO have this restaurant in their recommendations list. On our last night in CDO, we've decided to have our dessert here. Of course, we tried the Tartufo - vanilla ice cream covered in chocolate cake. Awe-tothaeffin-some! Pair this dessert with their brewed coffee - no sugar, no cream - and BAM! It's over!

Next time, I'll try their pizza and pasta :)
