We decided to include Siquijor on our Visayas trip because I was so curious about this place for so long. People, including me, always think that Siquijor is related to bad spirits like the 'mambabarang' and even 'aswang'. But when we went to this place, all of these were proven wrong. I fell in love with this province.

We rode a roro from Dumaguete Port to Siquijor Port. Travel time is two hours. When we reached the pier, we hired a tricycle driver/tour guide to explore us on the different tourist spots of the island. One of the tourist spots is the Capilay Spring Park.

P100 - Roro fare per way
P1,000 - Whole day group tour
P250 - Burger we bought near the pier

The first stop of our Siquijor day tour was the Capilay Spring Park. Its a natural fresh water park situated near a highway. There's no fee upon entering.

When we went there, there were only few tourists. The park were not clean because of the fallen leaves which came out from the trees around the area. There are fishes living on the water also.

Some says that people can go swimming here before. But when we arrived, there was a sign that it was now prohibited. Maybe because some didn't take care of the spring and they leave waste materials there.

We toured the area and went up to the stairs to see the grotto. On the upper part, we reached the church which I forgot. We didn't go inside because it was closed. We just took photos and observed the surroundings.

I hope people take care of this place. It's nice to see fresh water park this.

Capilay Park is a true gift of nature to the people of Siquijor and a true evidence on how nice the people of this island is.

It's located at the City centre seemingly misplaced and also situated perfectly amidst the modernization of the world. It's a public bath place for the people where they can enjoy the fresh water from the streams. It's being maintained and cleaned twice a week. Kids just jumps in and swim because the water is clear and refreshing. A stairs nearby will take you to the church upstairs.

People can have their picnics here, private bathroom is also present. They're trying to keep this clean it's just that some people just leave behind their stuffs. But kudos to the local government for having this and for keeping this as clean as possible.

You have to see this cause in the city named Manila, we cannot possibly have this kind of attraction maintained like theirs.

Cool place with a natural pool situated in the middle of a park. No entrance fee. The pool is clean. There were also some water activities available.

Isla Del Fuego is one of the best places I've been to.  I am drawn to it's eerie and enchanting vibe.  Tourist can do myriad of activies when visiting the island.  One of which is a visit at Capilay Spring Park.

Situated at San Juan,  Capilay is one of the popular natural spring parks in the island.  The swimming pool is made of natural crystal clear spring water.  Locals often frolic here during humid months.

The park also caters to people-watchers like me.  One can sit comfortably and sharpen situational awareness skills.  For bibliophiles like me,  Nabokov on a lazy afternoon at the park is my kind of siesta.

This is like Siquijor's town plaza. Everyone hangs around here.

Apparently there's this open pool in the midldle of the park that comes from a stream. At first I thought the pool would be dirty because of all the people swimming and all. But to my surprise, it was crystal clear!

I then decided to go for a dip to refresh myself from the heat. Pretty cool place. Wish we had one nearby. Haha.

Some things to say about Siquijor..

Who would've known that this place people are afraid of because of Aswangs turned out to be one of the most beautiul places I've seen. I felt no fear at all! I loved Siquijor! It's just a shame though that we have very few local tourists. Most are foreigners. What's nice about Siquijor is that you can rent motoribikes for P250/day and just go wherever you want. Pretty convenient if you're travelling alone or as a couple.

To conclude, Siquijor is so beautiful. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
