As I have started my Viaje Del Sol reviews, would like to continue along the same path and mention some of the places in the San Pablo area... This area boasts of seven serene lakes that you can visit, all different from each other... The biggest one is Sampaloc lake, easily accessible from the road... Another is Pandin lake, which involves a hike, mosquitoes, no formal bathroom and a spectacular view...

If lakes or nature in general isn't your thing, indulge your palette at Kusina Salud otherwise known as Patis Tito Garden Cafe, owned by the renowned Patis Tesoro... It doubles as a B&B, but their main draw is their set meals featuring Filipino fusion cuisine...

If you are into art, then you are in luck! You can pass by Ugu Bigyan's studio, which features pottery that you can admire and take home (for a fee of course!)...

During this particular trip, we satisfied our artsy side with a visit to Carlito's workshop... Best to take a tricycle ride from the church to avoid confusion... We made reservations just that morning and we were lucky to be accommodated the same day...

We were surprised that Carlito Ortega himself was there... He gave us a private tour of his amassed works of art and a demonstration at his workshop... He is famous for striking brass sculptures that depict the hardships of our countrymen... The process of making these sculptures is amazing! I couldn't imagine how pieces of metal became recognizable human figures... The artist himself was (and is) a joy to talk to... We sat on their veranda, eating a simple afternoon snack with tea, talking about politics and philosophy... He is very opinionated, but so is my friend and I... We spent a good 3 (possibly more) hours in this place, only interrupted by the artists' standing dinner plans... We had a memorable afternoon, picking the mind of the artist, for a minimal fee... We mostly paid for the snacks, the tour was impromptu... His works are for sale, if you are so inclined... Good place to visit!

This tour is easy to do, even without your own car... Just remember to call and reserve beforehand...128522
