Boy oh boy! I think we just found another Italian gem. This place is unbelievably good. Everything we were served was delicious. The place was packed with foreigners so that's a good sign, right? Though this is a fine dining restau, it's very relaxed yet decent. Not at all uptight and boring. I'd say this is one of the top 5 Italian restaus for me! The pasta was al dente and flavorful. The ravioli is just perfect! The risotto is yummy but not amazing to be frank. It could do a lot better or I can also try another flavor 128523. The lamb was cooked right but wish we had it in another sauce. I'd love to go back and try the pizzas too, it was really looking good from our neighbors table haha. The servers were very attentive but did give off wrong details about our orders like the serving size and other stuff but oh well, the dish made up for it anyway. As for the dessert, the pana cotta was heavenly! Almost like a flan and I like them thick and dense. The choc mousse was also divine. Love how dark it is and not too milky. As for the price, be prepared to shell out a few bucks here but I'm always willing to pay when I know and I don't feel like I'm being ripped off. Hahaha 128512

If someone asked me where to eat Italian in Manila - this would be in the top 3 for sure! The pastas are homemade and you can definitely taste the difference. Also, one of the best cooked risottos you can find - sauce isn't too thick nor wet but just right that it's a bit 'stiff'. One should also order the pizza here - fresh off the brick oven! Make sure to leave room for dessert - too good to share! Hehe

Oh and the service is excellent! Make sure to dress up tho boys and girls!

A dinner that will probably take you to Italy in just one bite. If this is not my best dining experience, I don't know what is, then.

We had our dinner at Caruso for about 3 weeks ago but had the chance to make a review about it just now. It may have been a long time ago, but the memories the meals gave us is overwhelming.

For appetizer, boyfriend and I tried their Rotolino de Funghi procini dell 'Ossola or rolled crepe stuffed with porcini mushrooms. It was truly a taste of heaven bursting in your mouth. It's a good thing the manager suggested this to us since it is our first with Caruso. We also tried (I forgot what it's called, but it had) prosciutto and cheese served with their home-baked bread.

For pasta, we only tried one dish which is particularly my favorite: Ravioli stuffed with spinach and cottage cheese. It was not too creamy yet not unseasoned. Perfect balance of all the flavors in the dish.

For meat, I had Stinco d'agnello brasato in vino rosso or lamb shank in piemonte style with red wine sauce. The lamb was cooked well; fork tender and well-seasoned. It was so good I just had to share it with my boyfriend so he could also get a taste of the goodness. My boyfriend tried Involtini di pollo alla Salvia or Chicken breast rolls in Novarese style. Not sure how it went but knowing him, if he finishes the food, it must be really good. He kept on complimenting the dish and offering for me to taste but he was enjoying it too much that I did not want to ruin his serving. Lol.

By the time we reached pizza, we feel stuffed already. But what's an Italian resto experience without trying their own pizza, right? Since we do not have an idea what tastes like, the manager offered to put all their best flavors in one pizza so we could try them all. We had 2 slices of each: frutti di mare (seafood), calabrese (spicy salami and olives), positano (mozzarella and parma ham), and one with different cheeses in it (dunno what it's called).

For dessert, off course, Tiramisu. Have tried various versions of tiramisu and have seen Buddy Valastro make one. None of the versions I tasted seemed to be like Buddy's. I did not have to taste how Buddy made it; but the way it was prepared sure made an impact and spelled out how it should taste like. Their Tiramisu is definitely Italian. It was really the 'cherry on top' for the entire dinner. It sure was pricy but I will definitely come back for more of their tiramisu. Not too creamy and coffee-y, not too sweet yet the flavor is just amazing.

Servers were very accommodating and friendly. It is a must that you make reservations for the place tends to be packed between 8 and 9 in the evening; they open up at 6:00pm.

A hidden gem in Makati. They offer authentic Italian dishes and carries a wide array of wines and liquors.

In the photo is one of their best-selling desserts: Caramel Panna Cotta. Melts in your mouth and the caramel isn't too overpowering; perfect balance between sweet and creamy.

The wines they offer are really good to be honest with you. So good I kinda lost count of the number of glasses I had. Forgot which wine we ordered but just ask the staff for recommendation, they're pretty knowledgeable about the items they have.

All in all, though the place is a bit on the pricey side, the experience and the food won't disappoint you.

Grazie Mille!

Probably one of the best kept secret Italian restaurants in Makati. It is tucked on the ground floor of a furniture building in Reposo. Ambiance is traditional European--old furnitures, white table cloth, homey and cozy. And it serves comfort Italian food--simple authentic Italian dishes--over a wide array of wines and digestifs. Service was also excellent.

Saturday family dinners are always a hit! The carpaccios are excellent and the tuna is worth noting. If available, also order the nero risotto, perfectly cooked al dente with just the right amount of bite.

Fine dining with an excellent service. The interior gives away that Italian experience. I really love how authentic their pizzas are. Plus, they have a special sweet treat after your meal. 128077127829127860127863

My family had the mushroom risotto, the veal, spaghetti allo olio, and the salmon in orange and lemon sauce. Always a favorite for our family.

I especially look forward to the lemonade shake they have. Its crisp and clear. It looks and tastes so refreshing.

Service was excellent! The waiter knew the menu like the back of his hand, and was very patient with us as we ordered. They changed the utensils we used per dish as well, which ensured that we didn't mar our experience by mixing the tastes of the different dishes. -1 star because their food presentation is completely unappetizing! I almost didn't want to eat when my orders arrived, especially my main dish. Refer to my photo to see what I mean. 128532 Also, I wasn't wowed by the dishes at all, so -1 star again. I expected a lot more after reading all the looloo reviews with high praises for this establishment. 128542

They offered us a complimentary dip (made of pesto, vinaigrette, and cheese) with assorted bread to start us off. The bread tasted freshly baked, and the acidity of the vinaigrette combined with the neutral tones of the pesto complemented each other perfectly. My mom and I shared their mixed seafood salad with olive oil and lemon, and we both agreed that it was very refreshing. I'd order it again, but I won't be splitting it with anyone else as it's slightly "bitin" if you have a bottomless pit for a stomach like I do. 128514

Next came our soups. I had their mixed seafood one, and my mom ordered their porcini mushroom soup which was highly recommended by the waiter. Mine was watery, lacked flavor, and needed improving; however, they were generous with the seafood portion and it was still decent in overall taste. I just wouldn't recommend it, and neither would I order it again. My mom said her dish was pretty flavorful, and the earthy, creamy goodness wasn't cloying in the least.

Choice of sides for the main dishes include roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, or sauteed spinach. I had their veal with lemon sauce, which was just alright as well; I'm not sure what it was exactly, but it seemed like it lacked seasoning! My mom's lamb dish tasted better, even if it was pan-fried (side note: I'm NOT a fan of fried food). I tried a bite, and the meat was flavorful and juicy (with that distinct gamey aftertaste/smell).

Prices were pretty steep, so you'll have to budget around P700-P1,800 per person. The actual damage to my wallet was P3,399 for everything, which I didn't feel was "sulit". Maybe I just ordered the wrong dishes? What dish is Caruso famous for? 128532

Note: They have a dress code, so be sure to dress appropriately to avoid being turned away!

Should you wish to impress, come here. The interiors and service alone should do the trick. Seal the deal with their fab array of aperitivos. Everything in the full menu is good but the pizzas here are the best in Manila!
