No wonder the place was empty!!! The old CASA ARMAS ambience was gone. And definitely, the food has become ordinary. This is the last time I will eat at Casa Armas. Even the service was done by OJT's who didn't know the difference between Arroz and Paella. The worst was the Callos which was not properly cooked. What happened here? Did the cook die and he left the janitor to do the cooking? Terrible!!!

Loved their bread (free and refillable) and gambas. Not always a fan of paellas but they were also good.

Gambas - 4.5/5 but too small a serving
Salpicao - 4/5 tasted good but a little tough
Mushrooms al ajillo - 3.5/5
Paella negra - 3.5/5 (crust tasted burnt, needed more seafood instead it had chicken, pork, etc)
Pollo estofado - 3/5/5 (a yummier version of chicken afritada)

Slowly writing a gazillion backlog 128540

Chrotizo frito was too flavorful for an appetizer- I waited for my rice to eat this. Even the oil was just delicious I had my toddler scoop her bread on it and she loved it!

Polo Al Ajillo was shared by 2 hungry adults and 1 toddler- quite a big serving. It came with one cup of rice so we ordered 1 more for me to share with my daughter. I just came from a 2 hour boxing session so although I liked their garlic rice, I chose the plain rice to save on additional calories. But guess what? The plain rice is more expensive that their garlic rice? Garlic rice is php55 while plain rice is php90! I know it's php35 difference but isn't is more costly to make garlic rice? Hahaha. Oh well, at least I saved on the calories 128516

We've finally used up our vouchers. Are we still going back if we have to pay full price? If we have company who'd want to have dinner there, sure I won't mind. But if it's just me and husband- we'd still choose Cirkulo or Terry's.

Last time we ate at Casa Armas was probably more than 10 years ago and since price is almost the same as Cirkulo or Terry's, we would always choose the aforementioned restaurants over Casa Armas when we're craving for some Spanish cuisine. I chanced upon a voucher so we decided to eat here for 2 consecutive Saturdays.

This is for the 1st dinner:
Husband and I shared the beef salpicao and I had the gambas al ajillo to myself because he's allergic to anything crustaceans. (Only time I'm somehow glad I am not sharing coz serving is so small)

Now, I have to note that you should get the salpicao from the appetizer section which is just
Php550 and just add garlic rice for php55 because the serving on the main course menu priced at php695 (salpicao with garlic rice) is just the same. That's php90 difference for ordering them separately. Hello?!

As mentioned, the gambas serving was quite small. Good for 2 if you're sharing for appetizer but I had it with garlic rice so it was just enough. It was delicious! It was wading in luscious garlic and olive oil! I couldn't help but scoop a piece of bread on the oil and garlic. The beef salpicao was great too- good enough for 2. Meat was tender. Sangria was also worth ordering- didn't scrimp on the wine and fruits.

Bill was less than Php1400 for 2 and I was the only one who got drinks. Quite pricey for the sizes of what we ordered but since I was very happy with what we got and I used a voucher it wasn't bad at all 128522.

I've been craving for paella for the longest time. And on the eve of my birthday (3/21), that craving was satisfied.128522
What we ordered:
1. Chorizo Frito - an appetizer but it was soo good that you can have it as ulam. Pinapak lang namin. We were tempted to order plain rice but our paella was on its way. So we settled eating the bread for the time being which was good. We asked for another basket. Hahaha sorry we were so hungry already. It was almost 9pm!
2. Caesar Salad - it was also good. Tamang tama lang ang dressing. Just the way I like it.
3. Beef Salpicao - Sarap! Lots of garlic. And just oh so tender. At this point still no rice! Hungry Mode to the highest level already.
4. Paella Valenciana - we were told that there is a 15-min. wait. Ok lang. But the wait was worth it. Ang sarap!
5. Lengua - siempre ulam for the paella. 128540
6. Seafood Pasta - I know, I know. Carbo overload. So what, birthday ko naman.128522 This is in white sauce. It was also good. Medyo nakakasuya ng konti. I just added some pepper and salt, ok na.

We finished everything! And we were only 3! Hahaha ganon kami kagutom.

Comida Deliciosa! 128077128077128077

I love their beef salpico and gambas. 128525128525128525. The beef was tender with the right amout of saltiness and garlic flavor. I wanted to scoop up the oil if not for the pre holiday weight gain that i need to loose.128563

I heard their iberian chicken is very good too but i i guess that will be for some other time since a reservation must be done a day prior for their specialties.

Over-all good food and ambience perfect for a lazy dinner with friends. Good service 128516

Hubby and I had our sun-date here and boy did we have a good lunch! We got Paella Parilladas (with grilled meat and seafood), croquettas de pollo + croquettas de jamon, and Albondigas de Ternera (Meatballs in spanish tomato-based sauce).

All of them were yummy except for the croquettas de pollo. Personally, the chicken doesn't complement the taste of the mashed potato blend. Just go for the croquettas de
jamon. It won't disappoint!

the tortilla was simple but cooked to perfection. olive oil mild, potatoes bite tender, and the omelet was light between the layers. the paella valenciana was rich in flavor, the rice crisp where toasted, the peppers thin and tart. what delighted me were the pork pieces, perfectly proportioned with meat and fat. the flavors exploded in my mouth, a surprise. i love surprises.

Love the paella valenciano! Service needs a lot of improvement! They only have 3 waiters serving for more than 20 tables!
