We all loved the food, even my uncle who didnt like frou frou stuff and would usually stick with familiar dishes. Unlike other places where you feel like you just paid for the food presentation, Champetre does not disappoint. They also have good customer service. The chef would greet diners once in a while too. Most importantly, the prices are reasonable. I've been here four times and I still want to come back.

It was my first time to try the Steak Tartare. At first I was hesitant to try the dish because it was made of raw beef. But this was why I came for!

Well, I finished the whole plate. Tasted like tuna sashimi and a lil salty. I'll come back again soon! :)

Great dinner place but some we went there in the afternoon, we ordered sandwiches and pate mix. These didn't disappoint our palate. Had my usual non-meat choice for merienda. Prices are on the high side but quality is not compromised.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary last night at this fine establishment. Both first timers, Tonypet S and I didn't know what to expect. Like how big the servings actually are. And yes, that includes the foie gras. See the photo? That's the lovely goose foie gras I shamelessly devoured last night. Yes, that whole chunk all to myself. While my hubby had the wild boar & duck foie gras (off the menu, btw). Never had so much foie gras in one night! And that's a good thing. 128540 For my main course, I got the scallops. It was light and tasty, which was what I needed after eating all that goose liver. Burp! I love how generous the servings are, and how unpretentious the place is. Looks like we'll be coming back, oui?

We were disappointed that the French outdoor market was cancelled so we headed off to our favorite French restaurant to save our day. And that they did.

Happy with the change in the menu (Chef Marc occasionally changes it) to find they have grilled scallops. We ordered that plus our usual air dried bacon, Roquefort cheese salad. The salad was hearty and tasty, as usual. The grilled scallops was divine, the mushroom gave it an earthy taste while the filo pastry was a good complement.

Arguably the best French restaurant in the metro and our go-to place for feel good food.

Client treated me here coz we had a toxic long meeting till way pass lunchtime ... Love it when they're so nice ... He chose it here coz it closest to his office

He got the French onion & I ordered Portabello mushroom soup... It's creamy & taste home made... done perfectly to my liking ... very silky with little mushroom bits.

We each ordered a steak ... I can't resist meat... After eating all fish yesterday ... As always ..the wagyu beef onglet was impeccable ... Juicy & succulent lightly pinkish medium doneness as I've requested.... simply divine.

We get along well... He didn't even mind me taking pics ... Of course I had the decency to take only a few shots ... And some more once I'm alone in the powder room... Yay... Haha 128584... Love the chair they hv in there 97869786️ .... Time to head back to work

One of the best French resto..So brought my well traveled friends here who themselves own restaurants all over Cebu ... They've privilege to try a lot of Michelin star establishments all over the world & so thats one of our topics of conversation over lunch 9786

I reserved a table for 12... But some can't come & it ended with just 8 of us

I ordered a few of their popular dishes for starters.

2 escargot bourgiogenonne with garlic bread was a divine delicacy to open ones tastebuds for the feast ahead.

2 homemade duck foie gras terrine with toast, another good appetizer to coat the palate yet with another rich luscious pate toast.

2 arugula, Bayonne ham, Parmesan shaving salad, with red wine vinegar vinaigrette dressing sprinkled with nutty walnut was clean, healthy & filling.

specialty of the day ..chanterelle pastry ... Delicate French little mushroom with pate topped with a pilo pastry was a lovely joy on a plate..my guest we're starting to comment that they're almost full just from the appetizers .

Portabello mushroom soup was enhanced with truffle oil & drizzle with garlic croutons..was savory & creamy to wet the palate for the main courses soon to come

Gratinated French onion soup was a little too salty for me this time... But the heavenly cheesy onion taste plus the dreamy cheese top was still almost perfect.

Main courses:

Roasted seabass with peppercorn sauce, salad & fries was gorgeous.. Meat moist & skin lightly crisp... Yet I felt it's a tad overcooked this time 128530

Grilled US black angus ribeye steak at 400 grams was a big serving of succulent meat , soft & juicy.. But not really outstanding .. Still better than most resto around.

Buttered seared US wagyu onglet steak roasted with shallots, fries & salad was a better choice between the 2 ....My guest loved it too..
Really gorgeous steak of the most choicest cut the hanger tenderloin ribeye really deserving as the house specialty

No more desserts coz my guest were excited to visit my new found cup of joy & hv our desserts likewise there... & so we capped off our meal & transfer to our next destination 9786

This review is for the appetizer and the mains.

We ordered the cheese platter to share because I absolutely love cheese and its my birthday! So there. Loved the spread. Didn't take notes on the names of the cheeses--but it is a nice platter with six cheese types. There's brie (a personal favorite, soft with mild flavor), hard and sweet cheese (emmental, if I am not mistaken), two cheeses on the medium flavor and texture side, a type of goat cheese garnished with olive oil (soft, with strong flavor), and of course a type of blue cheese. The plate is garnished with walnuts, apple slices, grapes, and served with fresh bread. I've said I love cheese and I enjoyed this platter so much. Mom and Ian did too. A great way to start a meal.

Too many good things on the menu. I had the grilled scallops with Lyonnaise sauce, Mom had the beef onglet, and Ian the lamb shank with Algerian-style couscous. Servings were very generous. Mom only finished half her steak so we had it bagged for later. She loved it though, and she even finished the side salad. It's their best-seller, apparently. Ian's lamb and couscous were very generous. Couscous was very fluffy, the lamb was cooked perfectly, and we didn't expect the stew on the side. Very nice flavors. The dish also came with very peppery sausages. This dish was almost good enough for two! Ian can't help but keep on eating. The grilled scallops was the best--great thing I chose it, at my Mom's urging. The scallops were cooked perfectly! And the creamy, peppery Lyonnaise sauce was just heavenly. The sliced potatoes complemented the dish nicely. It looks small and light, but it was far from it. Good thing I ordered a glass of Chardonnay to go with this. Loved every bite of it.

Unforgettable lunch indeed! Placed the desserts review on the previous post. Comfort food at its finest. Hope to go back for another milestone. This is the best way to turn 30.

Was finally able to try Champêtre and needless to say I loved it! Will write about the mains later. The staff were so attentive and there was not a hint of pretension in the place. The décor was French countryside and very relaxed.

Typical of me to write about the desserts first. Because we were so full, Ian and I just shared the Grand Marnier with candied orange zest ice cream, and it was great! You taste the layers of orange flavor in there.

Next is Champêtre's birthday surprise--the dark chocolate mousse. Needless to say, it's the best mousse I have ever tasted. Smooth, thick, pure dark chocolate goodness. Blended well with the ice cream order as well.

Too bad my mom was simply too full to have dessert, she just took a bite to taste. Next time, we definitely need tummy space for their soufflé.

Thanks Champêtre and Chef Marc Aubry for making my birthday so special.

Champetre is a very well executed restaurant what one would expect from French country cuisine: rich, straight up delicious food...true taste of both traditional & contemporary. & delicacies frequently flown in from France that are off the menu. Available by special request.

Gratinated French Onion Soup....thick layers of gooey cheese on top of a fragrant broth chock full of caramelized onions. Absolute comfort and perfection.

Butter Seared US Black Angus Beef Onglet, My first taste of the beef was wonderful. The beef was so tender and flavorful and the fried shallots on top really added a nice touch. although parts of the meat can be quite tough.

The wine selection is decent. The staff are very friendly and very helpful & attentive.

Pricey french resto but definitely worth it. We ordered the lamb shank with angel hair pasta and the Waggyu Onglet. The lamb was so tender and literally falling off the shank bone and seemed to melt in the mouth. The waggyu was soft and flavorful with hints of liver taste. The ambiance was elegant yet cozy and customer service was at it's finest. The waiters were very attentive and can explain in detail the contents of their dishes.

Reminded me of one of those great hole in the wall restaurants in Paris, albeit being more expensive hahaha.

Everything deserves five stars! From the waiters who were incredibly attentive and accommodating, to the food that were plates beautifully.128516

Btw, I ordered the steamed lapulapu stuffed with mushroom duxelle, with spinach and leek sauce. Suuuper good, but I'm sure whatever you order will taste amazing.

This is my second time dining at Champetre. This time I brought one of my buddies who was visiting Manila.

First meal there, I had the veal cheek which unfortunately was not on he menu anymore. Anyway, no worries ... I had the Algerian style couscous which was amazing. Two lamb merguez sausages served with lamb chops and a beef and chicken broth. Huge meal that was incredibly satisfying. Certainly enough for two.

The order was a bit delayed but the chef came over and classily apologized. Totally cool in my book if you admit a mistake, especially face to face with the customer.

Will definitely go back.

This place never fails. Marc Aubrey is a genius who doesn't present himself as being overconfident and is actually modest about the success of his place. This will always be in the top of our lists.
