Its been a while since our last visit at Charlie's Grind and Grill in Kapitolyo.

I still remember how delicious and juicy their burgers were and how hole-in-the-wall (ish) Charlie's was then, given that it was beside a car wash and the place itself had a rundown feel.

Turned out there was a fire more than a year ago, followed by a rebuilding and renovation August last year.

You will be pleased to find a newer ambiance with a predominantly gray and orange theme. It is still beside a carwash which I guess is its charm for me.

There are two types of burger .

Take your pick from the angus or the wagyu burger. If it were me though I 'll order both. To hell with your diet hahaha. Sorry my inner-carnivore-monster had taken over.

What is going for CGG are their really amazing burgers , quality and fresh ingredients matched with very affordable prices.

Must have something to do with lower overhead because it is not located in a fancy-schmancy mall.

Case in point :

WAGYU CHEESE BURGER P240
DOUBLE WAGYU P385
BLACK ANGUS CHEESE BURGER P 230
DOUBLE BLACK ANGUS P370

ADD ONS
Smoked bacon P50
Gorgonzola P95
Portobello P220 among a few ..

FRIES - Talk about freshly cut and real potatoes fried to perfection only upon ordering.

SAUCES - choose among aioli, horseradish, american catsup, russian, mustard, etc.

WINGS -- Half a dozen is P295 while a dozen is P505. Choose from among 5 flavors ie Puneta P330/P560, Sticky P295.P505 , Garlic Parmesan P355/P595, Honey BBQ P295/P505, Reversed P355/P595.

Love how succulent and flavorful their wings were. Frankie's better watch out.

Overall, had a great time rediscovering Charlie's Grind and Grill with foodie friends. Charlie's Grind and Grill has a branch in Sgt. Esguerra and another one coming up in the south soon.

Definitely returning with the piggery in tow.

Thank you Jam B. for the invite and EJ B. for the fabulous flatlay.

They only had black angus. Thats fine. Then they're out of bacon too, nooooooo!
Then they cant take cards (because its past their cut-of???). And that theyre also out of paper for the terminal. 🙄 And that they are partly under renovation. 🙄🙄 (all the chillers seem to be working fine - as they should).
Its mostly staff issues. It's not the establishment's fault that a staff is a little fresh (The rest are all fine and kind). Also, I have managed quite a few restaurants so I understand that sometimes you just run out of everything and all you can do is pray that no snotty customer (like myself?) would come until the situation changes.
So lets go back to the burger! Its a cheeseburger! The patty was cooked well, it was moist (pretty sure thats a term for cakes) and it tasted good.
They stand to be very truthful when they say its an overflow of chili on the chili fries! It wasn't to spicy, just right. Pretty warm. I don't mind waiting for my fries at all as ling as they come out freshly cooked, like that. Large cut.
I'd say the pricing is just about right (more so when they open the area with a/c as opposed to the humid veranda).
I wouldn't mind eating here again and would recommend it to anyone who wants a lil' pice of that Americana - if you're near the area.
It's almost a bustling street for eateries so you DO have other choices, in case you're up for some other kind.

Charlie's Grind and Grill in Kapitolyo is right beside a carwash. At first glance I thought the place was closed. There were cars lining up for the carwash but I wasn't able to see anyone in the counter of the burger-flipping place.

After approaching the counter, there was kuya all smiles. First thing I asked is where we can park and what items are not available since for some reason I always get to choose the unavailable items. Just like liking someone who's emotionally unavailable anyway. Good thing we were there first so we got the space to ourselves.

There's chili cheese fries who looks unappealing in photo but is a runaway winner in real life, the bacon black angus cheeseburger, and the shy bacon wagyu cheeseburger.

You can't see the bacon wagyu cheeseburger because it's hiding. It's hiding inside the lettuce and nothing else. It had bacon but that's it. Friend said you can taste the wagyu to be fair (meaning you're not being ripped off) but there's nothing else. Do we put aioli sauce? Ketchup? While wondering, the bacon black angus cheeseburger was glowing with pride. It tastes great, has garnish, and it looks like a 1/3lber. Wagyu probably costs more because of its fat but it was just pretty sad. The chili cheese was reaaaally good.

Tip: ask for the aioli sauce because it makes everything taste so much better.

The place is an open area where sometimes there are very opinionated cats around. The tables are quite sticky but it might be better in other branches. Food is good though!

Will I return? Yep.
Will I recommend? Yes.
Will I dine in? Probably to go. But i want that aioli sauce.

Spontaneous dinner with officemates are always the best. Lol!

Since we've been working at home since December 23 and just went back to office yesterday, we decided to have a mini bonding. Lol!

Our original plan is to go to Señor Pollo but we just decided to go to Kapitolyo.

On our way, we were deciding between Charlie's and Rub.

Since, we will passed by charlie's first and lo and behold the parking is not full so we all agreed to dine here.

We had a hard time ordering. I dunno why actually 128517

Sticky Buffalo Wings
• I'm too choosy when it comes to wings. I'm glad that Charlie's has good wings. I love how sweet it is plus their bleu cheese dip.

Wagyu Cheeseburger
• I found it a bit dry and lonely (say whut?) hahahaha

Overall experience is good!

Kapitolyo is my favorite food trip destination. With restaurants clustered all together, you just have to hop from one restaurant to the next. (Well, okay, there are a few that are a couple of blocks away. But that'll help burn a few calories!)

I can no longer count how many restaurants I visited there. I also lost track of the new restaurants and they keep popping here and there. But one of my favorites is Charlie's Grind and Grill.

Known as one of the famous burger joints in town, I have never seen this place empty. But not too full too for me to wait for a table. (I usually score the last vacant table!) On my latest visit, I tried the Bacon Black Angus Cheese Burger (PHP235).

Service was fast. I got my burger in less than 10 minutes.

Charlie's burgers may not be as picturesque as the other fancier (and pricier) burgers, but it delivers delectable and juicy patties.

My Black Angus burger patty was succulent and simply delightful. It was well seasoned and the cheese made it tastier. It was a good thing I didn't order fries as the huge burger was so filling.

I love Charlie's. I just hope that there are more parking space. (Parking is such a challenge in Kapitolyo.)

Sandra Y invited me to try Charlie's Grind and Grill and oh yes!!! She did not failed, I think this is a very popular burger joint in the Kapitolyo area and one of the pioneers around the vicinity as well. It's an American casual dining that serves a variety of off-the-grill burgers. They have flavors of angus burgers, These are the Five Cheese, Foie Gras and Sloppy burger and among them, I tried their Sloppy burger which is the Black Angus Burger with the usual cheddar cheese, pickles, tomato, lettuce and onions (picture posted). Anything with cheese instantly becomes my favorite. I just love how flavorful and succulent the patties are. Charlie's really knows how to cook them into perfection. I'm not really a burger lover but when I tried charlie I change my mind, it's really a must-try for burger lovers.

Their laid back vibe and juicy burgers make it a perfect hangout place. 128523128077🏻128079🏻

My favorite burger! And after xxx years, finally I was able to go back and enjoy the goodness and yumminess of this burger.

Their branch in Kapitolyo is like a garage. Outside you can have your car wash and enjoy dining while waiting. Before I used to order their black angus burger. Last wednesday,I dine with Yna N, during our lunch. This time I had their Wagyu Cheeseburger. So juicy and yummy, reasonable price @ P230. And of course, their ever tasty fries and iced tea. This is actually a good combo 128523

I don't know but for some reason their burgers 127828 kinda shrinked, they used to bigger, now its just your regular McDonalds cheeseburger but with a different bread bun, the taste is still the same but definitely smaller!

Sorry no photo was really hungry 1285141285141285219996🏻️

Thank God for Charlie's - a thanksgiving message. I was so hungry last night but did not have much choices since it was already around 11PM. Did not want to go fast food again so I tried my luck in Kapitolyo. I am glad that Charlie's Grind and Grill has long hours of operation.

So I got my favorite SMB WAGYU BURGER. I am not sure if they San Mig Beer with their patty blend but regardless, it's awesome! The buns were not brioche or anything fancy. It's a bun that's well heated and right fit with their patty. They also provide unlimited aioli sauce and having it in every bite makes my tastebuds go crazy.

Got some chili cheese fries too that weren't just topped. These guys drowned the fries in chili cheese sauce without the fries getting soggy.

Charlie's is not about the size of the burger but the quality they put on every plate. 128512

Charlie's Grind and Grill schooled me on the distinct flavors of artisan burgers.  I've learned that burgers is more than just a fast food staple.

"You will never forget your first. "

The premise above can be attributed to a former flame,  a vampire's first victim and some other "firsts"  you have in mind.  My first comprises of animal fries and SMB Burger.

The first thought i had when the burger was served was "That is a bigass burger."  I even doubted myself for a second if i can finish it.

The first bite knocked me off my feet.  I was used to the fast food burger that i never thought that the pattie can be this juicy.  No extenders,  all beef.  The other elements of the burger includes mushrooms,  baked onions,  cheddar cheese,  mayonnaise and SMB barbeque sauce.  Notice something missing -  no ketchup.  Yes,  hallelujah!  I never liked ketchup on my burger.  Baking the onions is brilliant,  people who isn't a fan of the strong flavour of raw onions will give two thumbs up.   Who would've thought that barbeque sauce will work with burger.  I guess,  it pays to be innovative.

Animal Fries.   I always liked my fries naked with a pinch of salt and some mayo on the side.  I guess this is Charlie's homage to poutine.

This is one of those "firsts" that completely changes a person.  I am never that same after my first Charlie's experience.

The wagyu burger still tastes the same. Still tender and juicy. The price hasnt changed but the size has become smaller. Best paired with black truffle fries. The fries tasted well with truffle oil with bits of of chicken liver. I just hope they add more oil because the fries at the bottom tasted like the ordinary fries. I would not mind paying extra if needed.

Black Angus Cheeseburger FTW! 128525

Because you should eat burgers with your hands.

I liked my cheeseburger with their humble but big fries, and their different kind of sauces. Our fave was Russian! 128077

Plus points for quick serving too.

This is a good (heavy) snack for your afternoon strolling in the metro.
