Chennix is a place that I have been familiar with ever since I moved to Metro Manila almost eleven years ago. Ever since my first visit to its corner store (back when it was known as Tapsiquel) when it was frequented by taxi and tricycle drivers on break, to its current location with its larger dining area and more varied offerings, Chennix has been a place that I return to when I want something quick, easy, and comforting. The fact that it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week helps greatly.

On my latest visit with my siblings, this is what we ordered:

Spamsilog (PHP65)
Two slices of Spam with a fried egg, and fried rice.

This is one of the newer items on the menu. The Spam is crisp and juicy on the inside. I like my egg well done so that the yolk does not flavor the Spam. The rice is best enjoyed steaming hot and it has a strong garlic flavor to it, even though there are only a few garlic chips in it.

Porksilog (PHP55)
A deep-fried pork chop with a fried egg and fried rice.

My brother's order, and also an old favorite of mine. Back in the day I would put banana ketchup or patis on it to contrast the soy sauce marinade on the pork.

Liemposilog (PHP60)
Deep-fried chopped pork belly with a fried egg and fried rice. 

My sister's order, and not something I would normally get. While I enjoy the crunchy meat, I usually have to contend with finding it among the layers of fat. I like fatty food, but I don't like eating the fat itself.

When visiting Chennix, I suggest taking advantage of their chili oil. The chili oil comes with freshly ground chilies and seeds, so it packs a healthy punch. I normally mix it with soy sauce, vinegar, and a couple of squeezes of calamansi juice. This goes well with any of the dishes that I mentioned above.

And while I normally dislike eating spicy food in public, I never pass up an opportunity to enjoy this. In my opinion, this is what makes Chennix truly unique for me.
