Last night I went out of the house at last during this long halloween weekend to satisfy my craving of Korean food as I told myself, "Even if you want samgyeopsal, settle for kimbap for now!" And so I set out to try the kimbap at the Korean bunshik place I saw numerous times on my way to work--the one in front of the Globe Telecom building. I was running because the path was dark and there were no people on the streets tonight. 128552128561 I reached the place just to see that the lights were out and the store closed. Why oh why???? 128557128557128557 So yeah, I ran all the way back through that same dark street, let out a big exhale upon seeing the guard's post, and decided I'd try the new hole-in-the-wall small japanese fast food place along Madison.
The place was full of Japanese characters. There was just one other customer 'cause it was already late. I went directly to the counter. The staff was really nice, it seemed they were an old couple settling down with a franchise. 128104128105 Having been informed that the bestseller on the menu is karaage (it's the resto's name after all), I ordered the Karaage Bento together with their house-brewed iced tea. Total bill was Php185.
Manong brought the tray of food to my table despite the sign on the counter "pick up order here". Thank you, Manong! (Told you the staff is nice.) 128512 The packaging was good, opening it brought back nostalgic memories of Korean convenience store doshirak... wait, doshirak? 128562 Is it because of the presence of kimchi despite being a japanese bento? Hmm... 🤔
Anyway, back to the narrative. I took a few pictures for this looloo review, and then started to dig in with the chopsticks provided. Yes! Chopsticks! And not the cheap kind! Yay! 128582128538128538128538 After flicking them apart I had my first bite of the chicken. Hmm, normal fried chicken, good. Second bite, chicken skin and breading. Third, fourth, fifth... it was starting to get really salty. 128565128565128565 I hurriedly stuffed my mouth with some kimchi... but even the kimchi was a little salty than usual! 128531 Okay, I have a really bland palate right now but... but... it was really salty. 128557128557128557
And so I tried to finish the food by leaving out the breading and alternating it with bites of kimchi and scrambled egg (this one's a little sweet). The octopus-cut little hotdog was also a bit salty (glad I haven't bought Purefoods from the supermarket yet). The little coffee jelly on the side was a bonus reprieve from all the saltiness. 127857128549 The iced tea was good. 128077
Overall, I wouldn't want to judge the whole franchise with just one menu, so I guess I would be back to try their other bentos (they're just two elevator rides away after all), and then maybe give a heads up to the staff next time to take it easy with the salt. It's a three star ⛤⛤⛤ because the staff makes you feel at home 128077 and the food wasn't entirely inedible. It still depends on one's palate.

So is this enough to reach the 1,000-character criterion for the #Halloolooween2016 giveaway? 128540 I just wrote my entire evening for this! Haha! Hope you enjoyed it! 128516

I wanted to try this for a long time since I'v been reading a lot of positive reviews of their BEST SELLER, Chicken Karaage.. So tonight, I've decided to have my dinner at Chibi's Light Mall and ordered the chicken karaage. I did not like it the moment I laid eyes on it (128514 so judgemental, right? Pero I gave it a chance kasi baka masarap naman.)

There's nothing special about the chicken, it does not taste like a Japanese style at all. Tokyo Tokyo's karaage is waaaaay better. Rice is not even warm and the sides are not that great.

Not a happy tummy. I went home sad so I just bought icecream. 128169

I've been eyeing this resto since it opened in light mall. They have a lunch promo from 12 pm - 2 pm where in their karaage's are only for 99 php.

Since that was my first time, I asked for their bestseller and they said it's the chicken karaage so that's what I ordered. If you avail their karaage's or if you reach 150 php, they will give you this loyalty card where you can earn points and if you reach a certain point, you'll have free something (eg: miso soup, fries, dipping sauce, etc)

Their karaage was so good! You can either have it in bento or just the karaage. Then, you can add dipping sauce for 25 php. I tried the buffalo sauce that tasted like barbecue sauce. Oh, I wish I picked sriracha instead 🙄

I don't know what they put in the rice but it's more "nakakaumay" than the karaage. I could not finish the whole bento meal. It's so filling!

I will always come back and try different dipping sauce! Hehe! Unli water too, haha! This is why whenever I dine here, I always sit beside the water dispenser. 1285149996🏻️

Their promo of a bento meal @ Php99 really took my attention. So I invited my colleagues to join me try their bento meal. At first they are all hesitant because they are not fond of trying out new food. Even picking our orders they are a little skeptic about it. But when the food was served, ah they liked the packaging. Then when we opened the meal, we were surprised with the delicious looking food. And the look didn't disappoint us, it looks and tasted delicious! All i can hear during our lunch time was YUMMY! We all enjoyed it and promised to dine here again! 128077🏻11088️11088️11088️11088️

Love this chicken karaage bento so much, way better and/or equal to some karaages you can have in Tokyo. Crispy, plump and juicy with sides that are way too cute to eat and a perfect complement to one excellent chicken meal. I wish they fan out throughout Manila and have people enjoy this.

Love everything inside that plate! That karaage is so sinfully delicious and mouth watering that even without any sauce, it'll stand just fine. Their mushy rice that's very friendly to chopsticks topped with that black thingy that doesn't taste anything. Been here once and ordered take out twice already. It's really a good thing that this is very near our place. 128525
