I walk quite some walk to not feel guilty about getting a slice of their cake.

Worth the walk. Worth the calories.

Manang, maybe you should put down your mobile phone when a customer enters the shop. I really dont want to hear about how your FB is not working on your mobile. And maybe when you talk to me, call me or address me properly since i cant tell if you're talking to me or whoever you're talking to over the phone. Bad service.

My 2nd try was worth the comeback. Not too satisfied with the 1st visit. But i came back and it was all worth it. Tried their bestseller 'Death by tablea' and the taste was just right --- not too sweet and not too dry. This is highly recommended!!!

Got their Death By Tablea cake for my brother's birthday. Two laters of very moist chocolate cake with bitter tablea frosting. No wonder it's ranked as one of the best chocolate cakes in Manila.

Something we noticed though is that the two layers of chocolate cake aren't the same. The top one has a cake texture while the bottom one has a more "puto" texture. Not sure if that's really how it's supposed to be.

Finally tried their death by tablea. Chocolatey goodness - moist, creamy with just the right sweetness. Love the taste of tablea in the cake.

Chocolat

There's always room for dessert. 128540

After eating Ramen at Hokkaido, my friend and I opted to have a dessert before going home. We wanted to try the Salted Caramel Cheesecake at CO/OP but unfortunately they're already closed at 10pm.

Wanting a Dessert badly, we ended up here at Chocolat. My friend ordered Death by Tablea to be eaten there but they are about to close So we had it as take out and I'm kinda disappointed coz I really wanted to stay there with a cup of hot coffee while eating the cake. Oh well...

We went to mcdo nearby and ate the cake there. 128540

The cake was ok. It's dry but I liked the Icing on it, not to sweet and you could really taste the tablea flavor.

It's my auntie's birthday but we decided that we have already over celebrated things, so a cake would do.

Chocolat is my nanay's favorite (that's what I call my aunt), specifically the the choco caramel cake. But to me, all of their cakes are sinfully overloaded with a chocolatey taste. But for a more filipino touch I recommend the death by tablea because they use pure tablea for it. Their cakes aren't too sweet even with that powerful chocolate flavor, and really moist. 128077128077128077

One whole freaking goodness that is Death by Tablea. Was already able to taste their caramel cake before but Chocolat's tablea cake (apart from being not that mainstream), offers a really good mix of dark chocolate with a reminder of how Filipino hot chocolate can make a good ingredient for a cake. 128513

Death by tablea. A chocolate cake with bittersweet icing made with native cacao and condensed milk. The only cake on my plate whenever I'm at Chocolat.128582

Not really a fan of dark chocolate but this always hits my sweet spot. It might be the generous chocolate icing that is well distributed all over the moist cake. Or probably the deep chocolate flavor that lifts my experience from other chocolate cakes.

Ah basta! Try this to know what I'm blabbering about! haha128540

Chocolat is a simple place that serves good quality chocolate cakes, at an inexpensive price.

We came to Chocolat for dessert and ordered a slice of Death by Tablea, which I think is their best-seller (or one of). The best part of this cake is the icing, which tastes like deep dark chocolate mixed with the local tablea that they make into hot chocolate drinks. It's also a bonus that the icing is very thick and rich.

The cake itself was a bit on the dry side, but still quote enjoyable. And at 88 pesos per slice, it's definitely not a bad deal!

Its probably not so good to eat chocolate cake before eating a cheesecake so I ate both cakes on separate days. Chocolat is known for their Kahlua Chocolate Cake and their Tablea Chocolate Cake. For around 400 php you can avail of their Kahlua loaf and when I bought it they made it fresh. Their cheesecake was also super luscious. The taste of the lemon was super light. I think a slice is about 85 php? Super worth it!!

After the numerous times I pass this place going home, I finally got to try out their infamous Death By Tablea Chocolate Cake.

The verdict is, just OK. Being a self-confessed chocoholic, and a fan of chocolate desserts in different forms, I'd say I've tasted better chocolate cakes out there, considering this is their specialty. It's 2 layers of chocolate sponge cake covered with tablea chocolate icing and tablea shavings on top.

Comparing it to Purple Oven's "Grandma's Chocolate Cake", I'd still recommend Purple Oven.

"Sweet Cliff of Goodness"

I only have one mission everytime I visit Chocolat and that is to devour their best seller cake -- Death by Tablea. The (oh so!) stuffy dark chocolate icing is made up of condensed milk & native cacao with uber moist chiffon topped with cacao strips. Every bite will always leave me from the edge of a sweet cliff of goodness. Nomnomnom!
