Their food prices are good and affordable for those that want to try some chinese foods around binondo. The Beef and Wanton Mami makes us happy because the taste were good but the Xiao long bao is a bit saucy. Over all it's a good place and they will serve you good tasting food.

We had Braised Beef (WHICH IS GOOD BTW) and Beef Mami (WHICH IS FLAVORFUL) They are a bit pricey though, but comes in big bowls. Can be for sharing, but for me it’s good for one. Tehee.

This fastfood has delicious food! I loved their Asado Ube Siopao. It was soft, the meat was tender and the sauce was tasty and has the right balance of sweetness. I also liked their beef wanton and it's soup was very well-seasoned, though I wasn't a fan of the thicker noodles they used. Their Miki Bihon, though, has no "yum!" factor in it.

This is also where I ordered the most delicious halo-halo I have ever tasted (please refer to my last review128523).

Binondo restaurants are, so far, so good! I'm excited to try other restaurants/fastfood in the area :)

When I was younger I always avoided eating at Chuan Kee because they’ve been around for so long and they haven’t entertained the idea of putting up air-conditioning. But they serve great and cheap comfort food, the maki and the kiam pong.

Now the place have been a landmark of sorts, ventilation has been improved (still no aircon but a lot of fans), with the familiar colors of the famous Eng Bee Tin prominent in their store. (They have the same owner) Chuan Kee has been upgraded and food still tastes consistent all these years.

Sweet and Sour Meatballs (Php 60)
These sweet and sour meatballs are tender and perfectly seasoned. Incredibly delicious sauce is so simple but has perfect tangy flavor.

Chopchay Soup (Php 110)
We enjoy them as it is, or we mix them with our rice to add moist and texture. I still prefer the childish way by mixing it with my rice. It reminds me of the good old days.

Kiam Pong (Php 40)
This dish for me looks like it was inspired from the Chinese Machang and Spanish Paella which seems to be logical.

Chuan Kee is located across Binondo Church, actually there’s a café on the second floor but it doesn’t capture the ambiance of Chuan Kee.

When I go to Binondo it's a must for me to visit Chuan-Kee, try the Kiampong rice, pata tim, asado and their hot wanton soup! But The Black Gulaman is nothing special.

I would have given them only 2 stars if weren't for the food.

So my girlfriend and I went to Binondo to see the activities. I remembered that I read somewhere online that there was a great tasting halo-halo somewhere in Ongpin cor. Yuchengco. So after several minutes of walking and waiting in line, we were finally seated inside Chuan Kee. To our dismay, they don't have halo-halo. But instead, the halo-halo was upstairs in the cafe (I forgot the name). The crew even told us "sir kung gusto niyo po ng halo-halo dun po sa taas". But of course, because of my pride, I decided to just stay and order some food. So we ordered Black Gulaman, Mango Shake, Asado with Egg, and Canton. It's Chinese New Year. Gotta eat some noodles. Haha! But while waiting for our food, the same waitress approached us and told us something like "Ma'am ano po ba kailangan niyo? Kanina niyo pa po kasi pinipindot yan. Tumutunog yung sa table five o?" (While referring to the device which has a button that when pressed, will call the crew's attention). My girlfriend told me that she did not pressed it. Though she was playing with it, but she did not pressed it. I got pissed because the waitress has an attitude. She could have said it in a nice way. Also, none of the crew were smiling. I mean, shouldn't they all be glad because there are lots of people who are waiting in line just to eat at your resto? I understand that you are all tired but I don't care. That's part of your job. That's a big no no in your industry.

Black Gulaman- 50 php
Mango Shake- 50 php
Asado with Egg- 110 php
Cha-Canton- 100 php

Overall, even though the food was good enough, still I can't say that it was a good value. Really poor service. If the food is nice but service is bad, then everything comes along too. I really hope they can read this.

P.S. Sorry for the crappy photo.

Had their pata tim with Kiam Pong rice. The pata tim tasted bland and the meat wasn't tender. Cheap yes, fulfilling (not filling) no.

Today i ordered Asado With Egg and Kiampong for Lunch and i must say it was A delight. The Pork Asado with Egg was sweet and somehow tasted a bit like Adobo and has Atsara under it..
And Just my Luck when i was about to leave one of the waitresses had told me that just around the corner i might actually get a free moon cake at Eng Bee Tin's ( on a separate review) i was once again Busolved!

One of the things that I like being in Manila Chinatown is the opportunity to feast on Chinese yummies randomly in unpretentious restaurants.

🔸Kiampong (Chinese Flavored Rice Php 38)
Salted fried rice (brown in color due to soy sauce) that’s usually mixed with mushroom, pork & dried shrimps. One serving may seem small, but if you actually quantify it, it’s good enough for two people. Best paired with any kind of soup.

🔹Asado (Php 95)
Mouthwatering braised pork dish marinated in a delectable sweet sauce.

🔸Sweet & Sour Meatballs (Php 58)
Tasty and juicy fried pork meatballs with sweet & sour sauce with carrots, onion and bell pepper.

All in all, another great experience at Chuan Kee. I've been there several times before, and once again, I am very satisfied by their great food and service. 128536128077

I just had my breakfast here and was very satisfied.

At P145 sulitsarap and busolved at the same time compared to eating to other popular fast foods for the same price.
Plus the "Chinese folk song" background music really wind it big time
I ordered my all time favorite Pansit Cha-Mi and Pork Siomai, the siomai tastes good the sauce really added some of the taste it has some kind of bagoong taste in it but not that over powering not a bit spicy though.
Then finished it all with Eng Bee Tin's Custard Ube Hopia

"Ma-Nga-Nin" - an Ilokano-Chinese word that means "Let's Eat". well, sort of...

Anyway, before going on a shopping spree in Divisoria or right after, i recommend to fuel up with some authentic Chinese Cuisine.
There are lots of Chinese Restaurants along Ongpin and China Town but this particular Food House gotta be one of the best out there
I like the whole ambiance a bit small to handle vast customers but the food is really heaven.
I really love the Pansit Cha-Mi and Kiam-Pong, kikiam and asado/asado with egg looks really good and might taste even better. I ordered the Pata Soup it has an awkward taste but the Pata bits was really soft it was like eating marshmallows on soup. What i liked the most is that it was actually cheap plus if you want something Chinese for dessert an "Eng Bee Tin" store is right beside it and their different Flavored Hopias are really delicious
Totally SulitSarap and Busolved at the same time
Gotta Love this place!
