Circles catered one of the events i attended. We had a four-course dinner at the ballroom.

Food was pretty and delicious. They obviously used high quality ingredients and had good chefs cook them. My favourite dish was the pear and chocolate tartlet with walnut ice cream! All the elements of the dessert were absolutely wonderful.

Dinners at Circles are always something I look forward to. It has been the venue for most of our Sunday family dinners, birthday celebrations, and anniversaries. In short, it's been a favorite of mine eversince I was introduced to the wonders of buffet restaurants.

There are two staple buffet restaurants in Manila for me, and Circles is one. I must say that after years of dining here, they still have the best rib-eye steaks, always served in big portions, complimented by their red wine sauce or mushroom sauce. It's definitely the place to visit if you're the steak-devouring kind of person.

Choices in the Asian section arent as much, but boy do they have yummy dimsums. The magic happens after you pass by the Asian section. The western part is a dream. If you happen to chance upon their shawarma, go for it. They have a good one, although it's not always there. Their pasta section is also nice, chefs are always so nice to diners and serves good pasta. This time I tried their spinach ravioli in white sauce and I enjoyed it. Their seafood thermidor is also a must try. No lansa factor at all. Love it. Lamb portions are also great.

Try their cold cuts section, they have this particular cold prawns/shrimp and that's the one I always go for! Their charcuterie section is not as big as Spiral's, but they have a good selection of cheeses, brie being one. They also have hummus but I havent gotten around to liking it yet even after two tries.

After stuffing your tummies with all the good food, go directly to the dessert section!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has been more than a year since they upgraded it and I must say that they just keep getting better and better. I love everything, but I love their signature vanilla ice cream mixed with the dark chocolate cake (self-discovered easy recipe years ago!). Their catalene creme is also great. If they happen to serve their kitkat cakes, try it without hesitation, you will love the hazelnut kick!

Circles is perfect for family gatherings and intimate dinners. They have a smaller selection of food but then I think they curate them well. Their staff are familiar faces already and they all look like they love their jobs. Service is great and cleanliness too. Be sure to try dining on a table with a view of their outdoor water feature!

This is the counter version of makati Shangrila. I actually got two passes for this buffet. So sad i could not invite anyone with me cause we always go out with friends as a group. I initially invited my sister however she declined cause she got work.

Having completed all Shangrila buffet cafes around the metro, i could give them a compare and contrast review for all. At the end, IMHO shall i decide who's the best.

128204service
I think among the three (heat, highstreet, circles), i still find high street the best. At high street, i remember they would still check if you are enjoying the food. The second best is circles already. I remember them offering me coffee. But i think they could really get busy when customers flock the place. I remember the service here on my first day. Grabe. None was changing my plate.

128204place/ ambience
Still, ambience at high street is the best followed by heat lastly is this place. Among the three, this is the smallest buffet area. Still, overall, the three were high classed naman.

128204food
127808 salads
Take this salad first. As you enter the place, you'll see it immediately. There are mixed greens, solo greens, different kind of olives, capers, quinoa, sun dried tomatoes, mayo and thousand island dresings, nuts (walnuts, almonds and pecan).

127837 italian
Choose/ make your own pasta. I chose the red (healthier) option which is more tasteless. You could choose your proteins next (i chose prawns, mussels, broccoli and zucchini) then choose your sauce (i had red). Chef will take time to cook your pasta so get other stuff.

127843 japanese
Not so hype. I think high street still wins this round. I remember from HS the sashimi served right from the tuna. At circles, it's not so fresh. The huge clams amazed me though.

127836 chinese
Still, HS is better. At circles, you can find this on the farthest end from the entrance. There's roasted duck and asado which were very tasty. The noodles served there are not yet cooked. Get a bowl and place them there and ask the chef to cook it for you. As for me, i did not take a bowl. I told the chef i don't like soup. So i requested my noodles to be blanched lang.

127830 rotisserie
Yay! Circles won this time! I love how tender it is! I super enjoyed the medium rare steak. Wine and mushroom sauce to taste. There were also roasted potatoes and veggies at the sides. Just make sure you go here early so you get the tasty and best parts.

127835 indian
This one is unique for circles. I like the corn palak(first day) and mushroom palak(on the second day) the lamb korma was so tender i couldn't believe it was lamb! The fish curry was so-so (used tuna). There were weird vegetable stuff which i did not taste cause it was not that appealing. But i guarantee it's authentic because i saw the indian chef walking tall.

127856 desserts
I'm torn between circles and HS. But this one is good too. I love the big raspberries and blackberries. The chocolate fondue--who could not resist dipping those marshmallows!! Their ice cream was a flunk though. Magnolia with only three flavors (chocolate, vanilla and ube). On the second day they have the yoghurt sorbet which i took. I added the granola and nuts ay the salad station. (HS won the ice cream cause they served manila creamery)

There were some food that i did not try at circles event cafe: filipino and seafood. Simply because filipino food and dealing with crustaceans does not interest me much. The fruits as well i did not try.

Don't park at shangrila kasi mahal. I parked at car park link just beside it. I just paid 50PhP for my whole stay.

The CR is at the left side outside the circles event cafe. High classed as what is expected from Shangrila.

The wifi is really fast and reliable. I posted my pics at IG right after capturing good food.

So for me:
Winner: High Street Cafe. High 5!
1st runner up: Heat. 4!
2nd runner up: Circles. High 3!

I'm not a big fan of eating in buffet restaurants, but I do enjoy the process of having a variety of dishes to choose from. It's nice to come back at Circles Events Cafe. Last time I was here was last month during my father-in-law's birthday (lol). The food selection is pretty good. It's a selection of international cuisine but being the usual me, I just ate the sashimi, fresh seafood, salad, prime rib and of course, dessert! My favorite here is the prime rib. This is just my personal opinion, but for the price tag - I would rather eat at Escolta or High Street Cafe in Shangri-La Fort. Good thing though, tonight's dinner was free coz somebody gave us coupons.128514

Celebrated my dad's birthday here last week for lunch. It's been ages since I've been to shangri-la and a few years as well since I've eaten at circles.
No big changes to the interiors or even place setting from what I remember. There are several stations - seafood, Japanese, carving, hot dishes, salad, Indian, Chinese and even a few Filipino dishes. We added 155 for the iced tea buffet which included brewed peach, berries or lemon lime
Tea. Very refreshing IMO!
For the spread, there wasn't any stand out for me except maybe for the seafood which you can have prepared to your liking. The steak was just meh for me and my dad, seven corners parin Kung steak 9786
Had a long lazy lunch 128522 service was good too.
Spread was good but i like the spread at heat better.

You'll surely love it here. They offer a wide variety of steaks, salads, seafood, they also purvey different cuisines and not to mention their gastronomic out-of-this-world desserts.128525 Unlike other buffet restaurants that i've tried the ambience here is soothing and relaxing maybe because there is a man-made garden outside and also the noise caused by the other guests is not that loud. Staffs were attentive and efficient. Will definitely go back.

I haven't eaten here in a long while.

they have an extended promo of P1,280/head nett and we ate here during Chinese New Year's Eve.

I didn't eat a lot, i just ate what i was craving for.

the salmon sashimi was a bit wet. not sure if fresh or not.

the California temaki. I ordered less rice and no vegetable. but the nori wasn't crunchy.

the prime rib (pictured) was excellent. I requested for the end so it will be flavorful.

the watermelon was seedless, juicy and very sweet.

Had lunch here with a friend. We were lucky that they had a promo of PHP1280 nett per head, vs. the usual PHP1800 or PHP2350. Understandably, Circles was packed, so we were lucky to have been accommodated even though we didn't have reservations.

Upon being seated (in the far corner), I skimmed the area to see which items are no-miss, since I won't be able to taste everything anyway.

The Japanese station offered just a few variants, but glad that my favorite salmon sashimi and nigiri were present, and were very fresh, with no strong fishy smell or taste.

Other items I tasted: cheese and crackers, pizza (quite good!128522), veggie tempura, fresh salad, and ravioli (this one tasted a bit weird for me--I couldn't figure out what was in the pasta, but it tasted like medicine). The cuisines I wasn't able to visit--Indian, Chinese, Filipino.

Personally, the highlight of the whole experience was the dessert station, more specifically the assorted cakes, pastries and ice cream. I unfortunately was unable to take note of the names because I was too overwhelmed with how good the desserts were. They had this dark chocolate mousse with actual blackberries thay was so amazingly rich and smooth, that eating it was like flavorful chocolate melting in my mouth. The sweet, slightly sour berries were a perfect complement. This is really one of the best cakes I've eaten.

There were these cheesecake-ish and mango cake dessert that were so light to the taste. I also got to taste a strawberry cream puff that was so creamy and fluffy inside. Then I tasted a bit of the vanilla-chocolate ice cream, which was light but quite flavorful.

I ended this sinfully, sumptuous buffet meal with Peppermint Dilmah Tea, while my friend got their brewed coffee.

Overall experience was almost perfect except for some opportunity areas-- wish they could have quickly refilled some of the stations, specifically the shrimp tempura. Another is on service. Consistently, the staff wasn't as warm as compared to other competitors (ie., Manila Peninsula); some were even cold/irritable, detached at best.

Still, one of the best dinner buffets I've had, in terms if variety of options and quality of food 128077128077128077

We availed their 50% off buffet promo. I dunno if it's because of the promo discount that their food, lineup and quality were bad. The only items I enjoyed were the following: Salmon sahimi, fresh mussels which I had them baked with cheese, and their unlimited fresly brewed iced teas (addtl Php120/head).

I didnt like their roast beef carvings, bland bland bland. They didnt have any lamb.

Ongoing promo is ok for the price, but asking for the bill takes longer than the last day of school.

Service sucks now. What happened, Circles?

They have an ongoing promo that will last until Feb 4 (i think). For only P1,280/pax (from its regular price of P2,400+), you can now enjoy their lunch/dinner buffet. But you have to make a reservation days before because they are always fully booked. Crazy food selection! Love the US Prime rib, melts in the mouth! The breads are good too! Definitely worth it!

I just have to get a taste of their dessert first! As with all buffets, their panna cottas are great! Limited ice cream flavors, though. Sushi, sashimi and steak are superb. They just don't offer discounts for certain credit cards on specific days unlike in Spectrum.

This is a buffet resto inside makati shangri-la, more on the upscale considering that it's a bit pricey. There are several cuisine stations. My favorites are the carving and roastings, given the steak and crispy liempo and lamb and the dessert! Their desserts overpowers the other food i must say! 128522 I have a sweet tooth and a keen taste in pastries and everything is good! (not a fan of their chocolate cream puff though, chewy na e)

Another buffet at Circles - dinner this time. It was great that we were one of the first ones there so it was quite peaceful compared to my first experience - weekend lunch. 128513
Circles has less variety of food compared to Sofitel, but that's fine since Sofitel's obviously much more expensive.
Desserts are my favorite here! I also love putting ice cream in my complimentary cup of coffee. 10084

Their buffet lunch has always been a comfort to me.

Had the ff yesterday:

1. Japanese - salmon, maki, sashimi, veggie tempura
They're always fresh and refilled instantly so you can never miss a thing.

2. Salad bar
Always complete, from the sauces to the ingredients. I love their mini cheese station.

3. American - roast beef with buttered gravy
Nothing so different about this.

4. Italian - beef pot roast, seafood pesto pasta, homemade pizza, cannelloni
Loved the beef pot roast's tenderness and juicyness! The seafood pesto was extra good too but lacked a bit of salt and pepper. The pizza and cannelloni were more good looking, the taste wasn't that OK.

5. Chinese - buchi, siomai
The buchi was really yummy! Siomai tasted just fine.

6. Desserts bar
I loved almost everything in it! The raspberry and calamansi cakes were so yuuuuum! The tarts were good too!
