Legit Japanese curry right here! Well to be honest, Japanese curry more or less tastes the same in any legit Japanese restaurant, but this place pulls out the stops to give you that authentic curry house experience.

The menu mostly consists of variations of what they have + curry sauce: katsu, beef, veggies, a rice omelette, seafood, etc etc. Being my first visit. I kept it basic and close to what i think the basic curry is - katsu, curry, and rice... but i also switched to the omurice variant for good measure. One kasama had her curry with oysters and veggies! All orders allow you to set the spiciness level to taste and add any combination of soup, salad, dessert, a drink, or all 4.

The pork cutlet was tender enough to cut with a spoon, it was flavorful, and with an apt amount of breading for that right crispiness. And the egg on the omurice was really fluffy! Both went really well with my spicy curry sauce! Couldnt help but add a dash of togorashi for a lil more kick hehe.

Coco Ichibanya is gonna be top of mind when my next curry craving comes along! 127835

Another first! I don’t know why but I was never a fan of curry. After my experience here, everything’s changed! Haha!

I went safe with my order and tried the Pork Cutlet Curry with mild spicy curry and 200g (smallest serving) rice. To my surprise, I actually liked it. I was even able to finish the rice! The consistency of the curry looked oily but I wasn’t able to taste that during my meal. The pork cutlet was good, too.

I think that the service in this branch can be improved too. It took some time before we got our bill which we had to request for minor changes. We also requested for an official receipt with our company details and it took them more than 10 minutes to return to us.

One night after a successful and productive meeting with the coolest society ever, @foodsocietyph (please like and follow their FB and IG accounts!!!), Reich, Ruth and I had dinner here.

Before anything else, can I just say that I never ever imagined myself eating here! Never! Why? Because CURRY. 128563128115🏼128567128566

Good thing, the place does not smell 100% curry. There's a slight hint but not too overpowering. Nagpaparamdam lang. 128518 And most importantly, non-curry items are available like SALADS. I love salads so I was happy to know that their salads are curry-free! 128513128588🏼

They have different kinds of salad - tuna, chicken, squid, corn, and egg! Prices are from 100-200 pesos only. Super sulit, diba diba!!! 128077🏼

So I tried the Tuna Salad (100). Asked our server if it's good for sharing and she answered yes, so for 100 pesos, WOW!!

But don't expect good for sharing size. Once served, you'll see why the salads were priced that way. Serving size was just right. Just the size you're supposed to expect given that you're only going to pay 100 + service charge. Enough lettuce with tomato, cucumber, and corn. But was pretty surprised with the amount of tuna added, it's the canned tuna type but I'm not complaining because they added a lot of tuna! And salad dressing was my ultimate fave: roasted sesame!! 128513

Ruth ordered the Cheesy Hamburg something which is a burger steak with gooey melted cheese inside and of course, with lots of curry. 128563 You can customize your order by choosing the level of spiciness of the curry and the amount of rice you want. Tried this and hello, curry. 128518 It was cheesy but the curry was just too much for me to appreciate/enjoy it. Sorry! 128586 And then we also tried Reich's Udon Ramen something. It was just okay. Again, you can really taste the curry. 128563

Service was good. Place is nice, clean, and spacious. 128077🏼 As much as I don't like curry, I am still looking forward to eating here again. Definitely going back for the salads! 128521

I was with The Ruths one Friday night.  We just finished a productive meeting and our stomachs are growling in unison,  screaming FOOD!

The plan was to have dinner at Manam but the line is discouraging.  We found ourselves loitering around Burgos Circle.  After x number of minutes we dediced to celebrate Friday with some good old fashioned curry.

Friday Night is Curry Night!

Curry Udon.  This marks my first time to try anything with udon in it.  I gotta admit,  ze curry swayed me (i am a lover of anything curry).  I dunno,  maybe i aint cultured enough to appreciate udon but i find the noodles too heavy (i guess i aint used to noodles on the thick side).   The curry infused broth is delicious though,  perfect for the gloomy weather.  The only beef i had is that the "spicy"  variant is not spicy at all.

Anyway,  I'll stick with the hamburger with cheese curry thingy in my next visit.

I am not a fan of curry but among the rest that I have tried this could be one of the best. Here you can customize the size of meat and the level of spiciness. I tried beef curry with rice( not just "A RICE" but a lot of rice )... Gave it a four star because I think it will be better if they could allow minimal serving of rice(hehehehe)..

This place is beautiful!!! Doesn't even look like it's just a simple, not so expensive curry place! The restaurant has beautiful interiors, with the lightings and just everything about its design still amazes me. Even the bathroom is really a comfort room!

The food is not bad. We ordered the curry udon and the pork omelet curry. We were asked about the hotness level of our curry. I love curry but I can't handle spicy food, so I went with the mild, but my boyfriend wants a challenge so he went with the spiciest. I loved that even if I ordered the mild version of the curry, I didn't feel like I missed the real essence of curry dishes. I was still able to taste the curry and the dish was what I expected. Oh, and good thing their staff recommended that I try a special sauce to mix with my order. According to her, the pork cutlet curry goes best with that sauce, and she was right.

Prices here are reasonable given the serving. It was enough for me. Although I'm not sure if it'll be enough for other guys out there. I didn't have a hard time finishing my food, but it did fill my growling tummy up.

I love their service. Food was served to us in less than 15 minutes (if I remember correctly). Also, I think the servers are trained to watch out for the glasses of their customers, since it's expected that the customers will need water for their spicy curry dishes. We never had empty glasses of water. It might be something small for other diners out there, but not for me.

You may not always consider a restaurant's ambiance, or service, or pricing when deciding where to eat, but once you experience the full package, it's only then you'll realize the great impact it creates on your whole dining experience. And for that, I thank this restaurant. Kudos!

I think my only mistake was expecting their tonkatsu to be on par or at least close to, Yabu or Saboten. Maybe it is in other branches, but for this visit I think the breading is quite different but to be fair the pork was good and it was cooked well.

Got the number 3 which is extra hot, but it wasn't that spicy. I guess my taste buds may have a higher tolerance than some other people.

But then curry itself was quite good so I think I may have ordered wrong, so I'm going to have to go back to be sure.

It's a bit on the pricey side if you compare it to what you get from Yabu or Saboten, who give you more value for your money. And I know you can ask for curry sauce on the side in Yabu, so I wanna give Coco Ichibanya another shot. :)

We ordered the Pork Cutlet and Vegetable Curry and the Shrimp Curry Rice Gratin. Great curry flavor! I like that the rice servings are customizable as well as the spiciness level. The gratin has a nice balance of curry and cream too. Recommended for curry lovers out there!

I don't know why a lot of people are saying they have enjoyed dining here.

Didn't enjoy it a bit. Got they're best seller, I can't even remember what the name was. It came with omelet and rice.

I had the curry decorated cuz I picked the "crazy hot" choice but it's really not that spicy.

Oh well...

Been looking for an authentic japanese curry and i can only name afew here in manila but that was before i got to try it here, i was very impressed by the fresh taste of its curry here such that i was able to finish it till the last curry sauce.

I ordered pork katsu with omelette which was very good and add another 100 to have 3 sides including dessert. Also order shrimp gratin which was equally impressive in taste so there would be another take in terms of curry.

Might come back soon. 128522

The pork tonkatsu was tender and the level 2 spiciness of the curry was just right for me; borderline "taking a sip of water with spoonful" hot. Combined with the rice omelette and it was a nice crunchy, juicy, spicy mix of goodness. And i definitely walked away full so a single dish is more than enough to satisfy. Good stuff!

Coco Ichibanya has such a huge space in Forbes Town, more like it's neighbor Casa Italia. We first tried Coco Ichibanya in Estancia and loved it. Other than offering good food, they have kid friendly options and that's just a PLUS PLUS for me as a mom.

In this particular visit, I got my daughter their Children's Curry Set. It has sausages, breaded pork, potatoes, jellies, rice and curry. Cherienne loves the sausages and the curry, but of course the jellies too. This set even has orange juice in a cup.

I got myself a Naan with Curry as dip and opted to add cheese into the dip. I was hoping they can put cheese into the Naan itself but sadly they only have a plain one. That's okay because the Naan was really good - warm and soft and light. The curry, I chose mild level of spice, with the cheese was a perfect dip for the warm naan. Coco Ichibanya's curry isn't overwhelming. Compared to other Japanese restaurants with curry bowls, their's doesn't give me a headache afterwards. I would say it's milder or more subtle in terms of flavor and spices.

Hubby got their Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry. He usually likes this but during this visit, the pork cutlet was overcooked as seen in the picture. It totally changed the experience coz the meat was dry and he didn't enjoy it. I urged him to tell the staff about it so that they can replace it but he's too hungry to wait lol

Overall, it was still a pleasant visit. They're always friendly with kids. My daughter loves tomatoes and they gave in to her request of more cherry tomatoes at no extra cost.

I love curry and i love spicy food. Combine those two together and you're definitely a winner. Amazing interiors and great space. I love the arrangements and wall art. The mirrors made there space look open and big. High ceiling are cool. Lovely staff and very efficient. I ordered the fried chicken omelet curry. Just look at that photo. So delicious. I requested medium heat but still not hot enough for me. It was pure curry heaven. Chicken was fried perfectly and was still crunchy even if it was resting in a bed of curry sauce. I also love the pickled sides they had, I'm not sure if it was pickled peppers but it was delish. It took away the spice and curry flavor. I'd definitely come back to try the other dishes as they have so much to choose from. My friends got the chicken gratin. It was pure baked heaven. Delicious cheese on top. #50kSummerGiveaway

I'm not a fan of curry but being an avid supporter of anything Japanese, I've been wanting to try Coco Ichibanya ever since it opened in BGC.

So one day, my officemates and I had lunch here, and we were fortunate that the place was barely full. The ambiance was really nice, spacious and bright, customer service was commendable. The staff knew their products quite well. It was our first time to dine here so we had a lot of questions. One of them very patiently entertained our queries and explained what each meal was composed of.

They had a wide array of food options--from chicken, seafood, beef, burger, pork, even salad--but were a bit pricey, with each plate at an average of PHP300 or higher. One order can actually be split to two people; though if split, serving may be insufficient for some people especially if hungry. But each meal had sumptuous serving of curry sauce, which can easily be mixed with rice, and can serve as extra viand 128522

I ordered the Clam and Ripe Tomato Omelet Curry with moderate level of spicy-ness. The curry sauce was absolutely flavorful and just the right level of spicy, the omelette was cooked to perfection and was slightly fluffy, which covered a bed of Japanese rice. There were also traces of tomatoes and seafood scattered around the curry sauce. It was indeed an interesting and superb plate of curry!

I was also able to sample the hamburger curry, which was a thick burger with delicous gooey cheese inside. Yum!128522

I will definitely be back to try the other curry variants!128513

It's nothing special. Not even good. No flavor to the food. 128529 I ate food like this in our high school cafeteria, but at one-tenth the cost.

That, and the staff brought us TWO wrong orders. Good thing we confirmed the food was ours or else we would've gotten the wrong takeout.

An extra serving of rice costs 80 bucks. And the clincher was paying fifty pesos for an additional egg. AN EGG. AN EEEEEGGGGGGGG. 128529

I've never been to a Japanese restaurant that is just about curried everything. From all veggies like eggplant and spinach, to meats like pork and beef, to seafood like squid and shrimp. If you love Japanese curry, you should visit this place. No other food here except curry. No sashimi or ramen or gyoza or any other yummy Japanese food.

We got the pork cutlet with standard spicy level, shrimp cutlet spice level #3, and shrimp gratin. I find the meat servings really small. Poor Raf M, he was not happy with the meat portion. The order is literally just your ulam, rice and sauce. My shrimp gratin only had maybe 8-10 pcs of small shrimp. The shrimp cutlet for the H I liked. The pork cutlet was just ok. I'd rather get breaded chops from Saboten or Yabu (or anything breaded there) and pour their curry sauce over it. I even like UCCs gratin (that's also topped with mozzarella) so much more than this. And of course the beautiful beef curry soufflé in Le Petit Soufflé.

Do I like their curry sauce? Hmm... Doesn't it taste like every other Japanese curry sauce out there? I mean, I've been making the imported Japanese boxed version at home even when I was a teen and it kinda tastes the same. Sorry if I can't tell the difference.

Rice was good as expected. We got less rice for the H, he still didn't finish it. Not enough meat. If you're the type though that can eat a kaldero of rice with a little ulam, you'll have a feast with the extra rice option that goes with all that sauce. It's a lot of rice for me though. I have half of my gratin to my son and I was still busog.

I liked the food, not super liked it though. We did enjoy our dinner here. No frills restaurant, clean place, fast service, well
lighted. I wish you had the option to add more meat. I only saw boiled egg, tuna, tomato and corn to add on to your food. You can also add soup, a small salad, and ice cream to your order for an additional price of 130.

Place was full, but at 745 PM this Sunday night we were able to get a table within 10 mins. A lot of Japanese patrons were there too. A group of them ordered San Migeul beer while kami naman na Pinoy ordered Asahi.

Lastly, I found it really weird to see words that reminded me of bowel movement throughout the restaurant. Words like peristalsis and digestion on the walls are just way too graphic for me.

Would I come back? Maybe128522

Ps. I forgot about the naan! What part of the menu is it because I don't think I read it128557 I knew I forgot something.

Yay! Finally tried this very popular Japanese curry place!

Was a bit hesitant because I'm not a big fan of curry (hi Jairus d.!) but with so many people liking it and me ending up liking new dishes (and hopefully becoming a bit more cultured), I thought maybe it's now high time to try it again.

Got the vegetarian curry (I already ate an entire order of sinigang from Fely J's when I ordered this so I couldn't order their katsu haha) and also their naan bread.

Got it in mild spicy and thought the curry was actually pretty good! It didn't taste like kili-kili at all! My only concern is that there were only about 2 pieces of carrots and 2 asparagus sticks and maybe 2 potatoes.

And the curry with the naan bread was sooo flavorful! A little spicy though but very good nonetheless.

The place is also very beautiful! High ceiling, bright lights, clean - good stuff!

It was their first day when I went and when I greeted their staff "Congratulations on your first day!", they didn't seem to know how to respond haha. Parang nagulat sila. So they just blankly smiled at me and said their usual "Arigato gozaimas!" as I left. :))

P.S. I'm writing this review via the new looloo web! You can write reviews on your desktop computers/laptops now! YAY! Congrats Erick B. Patrick B. Nesty A. and Stephen C.!

I feel so late in falling head over heels in love with CoCo Ichibanya.  I've been meaning to try their curry dishes for the longest time,  work and other mundane stuff got in the way.

January 07, 2016.  I finally had the time to try CoCo.   The newest branch is near work,  i decided to grab some grub before heading home.

First,  i dunno shit about curry and the one that hails from the land of the rising sun.  All i know is that i love stuffing my face with it.  The menu is extensive,  they offer a lot of stuff paired with curry - beef,  pork,  chicken, veggies and seafood.  I asked the server for the bestsellers,  Cheese Hamburger Curry is one of the creme dela creme.  She sounds convincing,  so i gave in.  I opted for Crazy Hot level of spicy.

The food was served quick.  At first glance,  the dish ain't much to look at.  A slab of rice with brown unassuming curry sauce and hamburger steak in the middle.  But this dish is packed with flavor,  they stayed true with the Crazy Hot sauce.  Man!  It is crazy hot and i want more!!!  The first spoonful gave a rush of endorphins and set my mouth on fire.

What i like about the sauce is that despite the spicy element,  you get to taste the flavor,  the spicy stuff doesn't overpower the other flavors.  And who would've thought that burger steak  can taste this good...this is not one of those run-of-the-mill, fast food-ish,  full of extenders type of burger steak.  The steak is juicy and packed with flavor.  This is how all burger steaks should taste like. Cheese and curry.... Mmmm-mmmm.

And oh,  the interior is lovely.  Modern meets traditional,  brick x tiles x wood, high ceilings,  and exquisite lighting.  The walls are adorned with big-ass photos of spices with a short description of its health benefits.  Wifi connection is stable and doesn't require a password.  The servers are quick and attentive.  I was standing outside ogling at the menu for a minute and one of the servers quickly approached with a big smile on her face.

Overall,  i liked my first dining experience at CoCo.  I will come back to try their other dishes,  next on my list is the Naan with Curry dipping sauce.  Next week perhaps?
