I was craving for Japanese curry so Coco Ichibanya was the first choice for dinner. I know "ichiban" in Japanese means number one and "ya" means shop. I dunno what Coco is supposed to mean though. 128517

There were so many choices! I wanted to order veggies curry or the spinach curry. But I have been eating mostly veggies the whole week that the pork cutlet was screaming at me to order it. Haha. So I did. Lol. So much for trying to be vegan. Baby steps.

I like that you can order 20g lesser rice for a -P20 to the price (P340) of the pork curry. Choose your spiciness level and add toppings for additional P80. I chose Hot or level 2 and added natto as my toppings since it's been a year since I've last eaten natto. I think they messed up our order since the server was serving our curry but says the spiciness was Standard only, but we insisted that we ordered Hot. So we had to wait for them to sort it out.

Our order finally arrived. The curry smells good! And the sauce is thick and tasty. Spiciness was okay. I am used to Indian curry which has more zing to it so the Hot level of this Japanese curry was not too hot for me. The next level is probably the perfect spiciness for me. Rice was cooked just right. I didn't love the natto as it was bland. I prefer it salty with a dash of wasabi. The egg salad was good. I think the P100 price was worth it. I liked the roasted sesame dressing.

I really enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back for a spicier curry.

Curry Craving? Give Coco Ichibanya a shot.

You can customize your order from the size, spiciness level and down to the add-ons.

Don't get the miso soup though as a side dish as it just tasted like beef or chicken broth.

I did like what I ordered, which is Chicken Cutlet Curry.

Quite poor on the food presentation part but at least the food is good.

Coco Ichibanya just made me change my impression about curry. I was able to sample both burger with cheese as well as the chicken cutlet curry and i give it high marks. The meat was literally swimming in curry but he flavor was not overpowering. The beef patty was very tender and the cheese added flavor to it. The chicken cutlets on the other hand was quite similar to katsu. Word of caution though, for those not used to spicy hot food just get the mild spicy version. I tried the hot and I was sweating like a pig after the meal. One can just imagine how hot the extra spicy and super spicy would be. I need to come back and sample the other recipes in the menu next time. By the way, I just found out that this resto belongs to the UCC which explains why the food tasted kinda familiar

This brings me back to my days in Shanghai around three years ago when I would have Coco Ichibanya for lunch at Carrefour Gubei. I'm so glad they're finally here. I ordered the hamburger with melted cheese. Yum!

I had fever when I first visited Coco Ichibanya. Walang panlasa and it's so hard to appreciate food. Last Saturday, I was at Estancia Mall. There are only limited choices and I was torn between Ba Noi and Coco Ichibanya. I thought it was the best time to give this japanese curry place another shot so I went for Coco.

I ordered the same thing, Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry, one of their bests. Customers have 6 levels of spiciness to choose from, STANDARD, MEDIUM HOT, HOT, EXTRA HOT, SUPER HOT and CRAZY HOT. I tried Super Hot during my first visit and I did not find it challenging at all so I went for the spiciest.

I definitely did enjoy my food this time. Their crazy hot is still not uber hot but it was really good. The egg was really perfect with the curry and it was soft and fluffy. 128514 The pork cutlet was delicious too.

I had Cheese Hamburger on the side. The burger was smaller than I expected but it did taste really good especially with curry. I just hope it's bigger like Morganfield's ribs haha!

Usapang spicy Peanut D

Service was great, fast and friendly. Would love to go back and try the rest.

Curry House Coco Ichibanya is one of the top rice curry chains in Japan, and this is their first branch in Manila.

Cheese Hamburger
Wow, look at that delicious cheese (on the photo above) just oozing out of it! Taste-wise, I think the hamburger would pair better with the curry than the pork cutlet.

I am very happy with the curry sauce and found it quite flavorful, the pork cutlet was really not a good combination for me. It was like, yum yum curry flavor, then eating some of the rice.

It was a good experience though. At least we’ve tried it and know what to expect next time, and are a bit wiser about what to order. 128516

Tried their omelette mushroom rice with medium curry and a side of their japanese sausages and it was so addicting. The curry was fragrant and was so flavorful! It might be pricy but hey, it's worth it! My friends also ordered the pork katsu curry and the chicken curry with cheese. Definitely a must try!

Probably the best curry places I've ever been. Their curry sauce is thick and rich, and they have a good staff training.

Kare raisu!!!!, so much variety to choose from! And The popular katsu-kare is also there. Also you can customize your meals here with Several add ons to choose from or just add fukujinzuke (pickled veggies)!!!!. If you want a light meal they offer salads too at a very affordable price... Great place to enjoy food or just hangout

Forgot what it's called but that fried chicken balls and omelet with curry sauce. Tasty food! You can have your choice of hotness (naks! Haha jk), tho I prefer the mild. Standard is your typical curry anghang. You also have your choice of rice servings tho, of course, at an additional price. Also, you can combo the ala carte with at least two sides for 80php minimum. Sides would include drinks, dessert, soupd, and salads. Price range for every curry ala carte is 200-300.

Curry House! Was having 2nd thoughts coz I'm not a fan of spicy food - and we are going to eat with 3 little kids 128102128102128102....good thing we were brave enough to try! 128077 The Japanese rice itself was already good, plus you can even customize your dish! The serving of rice, the toppings, and of course - the curry sauce. You can control how spicy your curry sauce will be - for the kids the mild one with no spice at all and they loved it! They even added cheese which made it super yum! For me I got the standard for just a kick of spice 128076 you might want to try the higher levels if you love spicy food 128522 Overall it was a great curry experience!

It was my first time in Estancia and I was amazed by all the new restaurants that had opened! Nice one, Capitol Commons 128513128077🏼

We decided to wait for a table at Coco Ichibanya, which was a good choice because the servers were so courteous and accommodating. Service was lightning fast, too! Our food reached us within a few minutes 128523 Perfect for when you're too hungry to think, like we were!

I ordered the pork cutlet curry with omelet at a mild spice level! The pork cutlet itself was meh, nothing special but the curry was divine! The sauce was so good, especially when combined with the Japanese rice. I tried my mom's shrimp cutlet curry though and I liked it more than the pork! Next time I'm definitely going to go up a spice level (and maybe try the hamburger curry! Sounds interesting!)

Finally got to try this one. Loved my Shrimp Cutlet with medium spicy curry sauce. Curry sauce was nice & spicy 128561 I added mushrooms & sausages. Good thing I checked looloo for some tips, there were so many ways to customize your meal 128077🏼 came prepared, knew what I was going to get already 128522. The music was just a bit off for me, they were playing Kenny G & Sinatra during lunch 128563. Otherwise, was a pretty good visit. Might go back again 128512

Had the chicken cutlet with medium hot curry--it was so good! No scrimping on the rice and curry sauce. I hope they maintain this quality. Oh and the pickled radish is the perfect pantanggal suya for every curry bite!

i got pork cutlet with vegetables, standard spice; she got cheese hamburger, mild spice. given my benchmark for tonkatsu is yabu's, the cutlet definitely has room for improvement. the cheese hamburger was very enjoyable with a charming cheesy twist, and did not taste like it's processed meat. now let's get to The Curry. boy that was curry nirvana right there. the standard has great balance, hitting that goldilocks sweet-sour-curry spice spot just right. the mild was just as good. when it come's to japanese curry, it's now gonna be my benchmark and it might be quite hard to trump.

I'm not really a fan of Japanese curry just because I'm not into spicy food, but because of good reviews and saw that you can control the spiciness so I give it a try.

And it was pretty good, we ordered pork cutlet curry, creamy chicken omelet curry, hashed beef omelet curry, sausage salad, and additional natto curry just because I always wanted my cousins to try it 128541

The curries has a perfect spice, pork cutlet good, the cream in chicken curry balance the spiciness of curry but I wish that there's more chicken, I love the sausage, crunchy outside but soft, moist, tasty inside yum! just try it! The hashed beef is so good if your not a curry fan. Also try the pickeled radish on the side with your curry, yum!

The place is big and spotless, the servers are friendly and attentive.

One of the best curry I've had in the country... The Japanese Sausage was awesome. The pork cutlet was not something to write home about but the curry made up for it. I would say this place is a must try for all curry lovers out there.

I've always believed that the most unappreciated Japanese dish is curry.

Normally, the normal curry dish in other Japanese joints only offer Katsu or beef or a seafood option.

At Coco though, they bring the curry into the spotlight by adding the benefits of customization of your curry dish (you choose your rice serving, topping, and spiciness).

Simple yet familiar items such as their Cheese Hamburger Curry bring the fun back to the boring notion of curry dishes.
The melted cheese and ground beef swim perfectly with the piping hot curry in each bite, and remind one of comforting, trouble-free days.

Everyone raves about ramen and sushi - which isn't wrong, but there has to be some kind of love given to curry as well. Thankfully, with the kind of love found in each bite in Coco, giving back the love wouldn't be hard to do.

This is my second visit to CoCo Ichibanya here in Estancia and I have to say, service is pretty fast. 128077🏼 There's not that many people but it was still a reasonable wait.

We ordered the Pork Cutlet Omurice Curry and the Cheese Hamburger Curry (in photo) and it was gone in less than 20 minutes! Maybe we were just that hungry after being stuck in traffic.

The cutlet was tender. The egg was fluffy and soft. The hamburger was juicy. And the cheese was oozing! Need I say more?
