I'm pretty much an Army Navy person but I don't mind eating at Coco Hut every once in a while. I am a big fan of their outrageous pasta offerings. So today during lunch, we dined there again. I've been meaning to try other pasta dishes such as the Kare Kare pasta but at the last minute, I decided to just stick to what I know is good - the Longganisa Carbonara.

This time, it wasn't at par with what I ate before. The sauce is a bit watery and the longga is reddish and not as crispy. I was kind of disappointed.

We also had their potato chips which was quite good, it would be best if they have dips but on its own it's actually a good munch.

My friends had the Lechon Kawali which looks really deadly but actually really flavourful and yummy. It comes with two sauces to complement the pork. As well as a cup of plain rice. Yes, because you can't just have lechon kawali, you've got to have rice and lots of it! 128514 IMHO.

Plus, you can also order another size for sharing but if you're alone then you could stick with the lechon kawali meal 128513

I have a thing for creamy pasta. I prefer it over red sauce and it started because typically at home, we would only cook red sauce pasta almost every time. Never the creamy white variety. I guess I craved for it up until adulthood.

You're familiar with Coco Hut. They are well known for their Fried Chicken and Poor Man's Fish. I was surprised that they are now offering a different kind of meal in their menu -- Pasta cooked in unsuspecting ways using varied ingredients.

Today, I share with you this delectable and creamy pasta.
BACON BITS? Naaaaaaah. That's Longganisa bits fried and crisped to perfection. On top of it, perfectly poached egg 128525

I was pleasantly surprised on how good and creamy this is especially when you break the egg and mixed it well with the pasta sauce. I also can't get enough of the longganisa 128523 Sarap eh!

This is priced at around P250+. Serving is advertised as good for sharing but I can honestly finish this on my own in one sitting. There are also other pasta flavours including one with peanut sauce (Kare-Kare style) 128550 I wonder how that would play with my taste buds.

So there, there's no harm in experimenting and taking the leap from the usual to the uncommon. 128523

A good tip: If you want to try new offerings or meals, order two kinds, one would be you go-to and safe option then the other would be the new or outrageous meal. So that if your order doesn't taste that great, you won't get bummed and you would still enjoy your meal 128521 at the same time, if both meals taste great then you are a definite winner! 128513

There was a time when my favourite Army Navy branch (which is supposed to be 24 hours) is temporarily closed. So instead of feeling beaten and hungry, I decided to go to Coco Hut instead. Coco Hut is right beside Army Navy and serves all day breakfast meals too. Coco Hut is bigger in terms of space and they are serving quite a lot of customers that morning. I opted to order the Tapa Ala Pobre just so that I can compare it with Army Navy’s tapa. I was thinking that maybe just maybe they are just the same. Alas, it was not! They look alike but the flavouring and taste was not the same at all. I don’t know why but I felt that Army Navy’s tapa is better. Coco Hut's take has more fried garlic which is also good. Now, I was in a hurry because I was already late for work but since they are serving a lot of people, my number took a long time to be called.

Stick with their other rice meals, that is better than their breakfast meals.

We were at Commerce and mom got hungry, I was suggesting so many good places but I have no idea how we ended up here. First off, the crew isn't as warm as you expect them to be, upon entering we chose a place to sit at since there wasn't anyone assisting then we were told to move to a different table because the table we chose was "reserved" (There was no sign or anything)

After moving, mom and I lined up for our orders and boy the crew was EXTREMELY HELPFUL (please notice the sarcasm) whenever we asked about the dish they'd just repeat the name and tell us how much it is.

Anywhoo, we settled for fried chicken coz seriously, who can screw up simple fried chicken? APPARENTLY THEY CAN! The chicken was so damn salty I could've sworn that it was fresh from Bikini Bottom. I tried to neutralize the taste with ketchup, nope! Wrong move. The ketchup tasted weird, ended up making the most of my potato chips and coconut shake (which were the only two good things we ordered). Oh and the gravy - horrible!

Twas a total waste to go here. Never ever coming back again (well maybe for the coconut shake but that's it)

Too pricey, poor service, not-so-good food. 128078🏻

Finally a chicken and fish place! Yehey!

Although it's a bit pricey esp their kani cake for php 140 for 4 pieces 128531 their fried chicken is juicy and spicy for php 120 128522. The fish fillet with coco squash is php 160 tastes good but i'm not a fan of the coco squash..lastly the teamarind has a bitter after but overall it's good food.

We'll try other items on their menu soon..

I find it strange that although I don't really crave for anything on their menu, every single time I do happen to eat at Coco Hut I really enjoy it. If I had to single out 3 things on their menu it'd be the hut chicken, the poor man's fish, and the kani cakes.

The hut chicken is perfectly fried, crisp, and juicy. It has that spicy glaze thay gives it an extra kick. The fish makes for a great late night snack - crunchy, spicy, and salty bits of galunggong perfectly contrasting every spoonful of hot rice. But my favorite would be the kani cakes. Deep fried breaded pattie made with kani and mozzarella cheese! 128077128077128077

The rest of the menu that i've tried is more than decent - the monggo, laing, chicken adobo flakes, and drunken mussels. Nothing too special but delicious nevertheless 128076 The adobo flakes is worth a special mention since its topped with lots of garlic, just the way I like it! Was tempted to try their dirty yogurt (ube yogurt with cheese bits), but I'm not the biggest fan of ube haha 128541

They had me at "chicken & fish". My two fave main course! And to top that off, coconut errthang pa! Lol. We've passed by this place a million times but when I found out jt was a sister company of army navy, I got intrigued by it. So happy they did not disappoint. The veggie selection is awesome. My 4 fave dishes in one place. I was so happy to find they have coco langka! I super love this dish and it was really close to how my granny used to make it. The laing was awesome too. The squash had a hint of spice, my wild guess is ginger. Mind you, it's doesn't taste like powder or if it is then applause to them!!! 128513 would love to try the bamboo and monggo soon.

As for the chicken. It was juicy & crispy but really oily and salty. Goes darn well with white rice 128513 which is a little small or matakaw lang talaga ako? 128513 The poor man's fish is perfectly crispy enough to eat and leave nothing but the tail.. Or not? :)) #pusamode 128514 the fish goes well with the veggie selections, like how we use to have at home. Partner-partner. Lol.

As for the dirty yogurt, amazing. Great concept, bad cheese though. Tasted Too cheap I say.

My only concern here is it took a while for our orders to come, about 20mins. But I'm confused, is this a fastfood chain?? Also, tables were a little to dirty... Nonetheless, happy tummy! 128522

Finally, fish and seafood options in a fast food restaurant! Nothing too fancy though which is very similar to their sister company, Army Navy. Even the look and feel scream Army Navy.

I got the fried tilapia meal and since they have a promo during Mondays for fish meals, they will come with a free regular Teamarind (which I upsized anyway).

Nothing to rave about the deep-fried batter-coated half piece of tilapia but I liked the coco squash side poured over rice. The monggo also wasn't good, expectations too high probably because I was thinking it'll be like home-cooked.

Anyways, will come back and try their other meals. They look promising especially the tinapa... Although one would think how they could screw that up 128513

Where have you been all my life? 128517128517128517

If you're a potato lover, you'll surely love this very cheap Potato Chips from Coco Hut. Imagine a platter of very crunchy yet real potatoes for only 60 pesos. I ordered it as my appetizer while waiting for my Hut Chicken (spicy fried chicken). Just add 75 pesos for their refreshing Teamarind- freshly brewed tamarind iced tea.

Crisp and juicy spicy hut chicken not overpoweringly spicy. Comes in classic too, but too bad this comes in single part meal either thigh or breast with rice. Almost same look and feel in most details from the mother store Army Navy. Would like to try that poor mans fish meal of crunchy GG someday.

We wanted to try the newly opened The Farm in this mall but they were closed that Friday. So we searched looloo for a good place to dine. We read mostly good reviews about Coco Hut so we tried it. We ordered the following:
Kani Cakes 128074128074128074
Our kids said they liked it that there's a good filling of mozzarella in each cake. Taste-wise, it was okay.

Coleslaw 128074
Bland and sad. Just bad.

Cream Dory Fillet 128074128074128074
Crunchy batter, well-cooked fish

Chicken (thigh) meal 128074
These are cooked to order, but we waited too long a time for 2 orders of these. The moment my order was served, I knew it's overcooked and it's gonna be as dry as summer. I could even smell & taste the char-bitterness in the skin part and the top part of the meat.

Service 128074
Aside from the long wait time for the chicken meals (30mins WILL overcook chicken thigh), staff was inattentive. There were about 4 in the kitchen, 1 on the pass, 1 cashier who were all giggling and chitchating even if we're right in front of them, waiting to be accommodated.

Interiors 128074128074128074
Same look & feel as Army Navy, which is right across Coco Hut.

Might have been a bad day in the kitchen, but we're not coming back here.

The juiciest chicken around and the best-tasting hot sauce too! Try their Hut Chicken (comes with the aforementioned hot sauce) and request to have sauce on the side if you'd like to control the heat. Try also their Chicken Adobo Flakes! Super tasty. And wash it all down with Teamarind, their tamarind flavored iced tea.

It's open 24 hours so you can get your cravings solved any time of the day!

It's never too late to catch a good breakfast just in case you didn't get a good one. Coco Hut's all-day breakfast offerings has always been our all-day, all night comfort food.

After a long drive from QC back to Alabang, Coco Hut was our top-of-mind choice. Espie was craving all the way for galunggong while I had cows in my head. I had to choose Coco Hut's corned beef (at P150) which I haven't tried yet. Kandyce? Rice and chicken as usual! We had to choose the leg part as the thigh would be too big for her. Coco Hut's chicken are usually much bigger than your usual McChicken, Chickenjoy - even KFC's doesn't seem to match in size. To complete our breakfast, Espie and I added coffee (at a very affordable P50 for a wonderful hot brew) to complete our meal.

Coco Hut's approach to cooking your daily food has been remarkable and true to their statement that food is cooked only as you order it as the food is served fresh and hot. Just as how they meticulously prepared Espie's GG (aka Poor Man's Fish) which I have already reviewed here at looloo.

My corned beef was delivered just as expected - the beef was freshly done with no aftertaste whatsoever - quite true to the Coco Hut credo of freshness. I just love how they put in a generous bunch of onions!!!

Kandyce was still very energetic that she managed to eat most (if not all) of her big legged deep fried chicken. At almost three, we didn't expect her to eat this much!

Oh, how would we forget one of our favorite brews in town. I'm not really a coffee connoisseur but this brew rocks! A twin brother to Yellow Cab's brewed coffee, Coco Hut's version is similarly absolutely no-nonsense simply straightforward down-to-earth coffee that's very good at a very affordable price!

These are very simple reasons why we keep coming back here. Fresh food yet very affordable = great value for money.

Poor Man's Fish @P175 isn't exactly how you would like to pay for your daily GG but see how Coco Hut prepares it and you'll be amazed, and perhaps have this GG everyday!

This galunggong is fried to perfection. It's so crispy and tasty you can even eat its tinik. Coco Hut serves it with their signature suka, toyo and bawang sauce and make it more irresistible! As a bonus, they have added the best kalabasa soup with their magic gata that makes your GG meal really worth every peso that you paid for - or even more, as you can't get any other GG this good!

Coco Hut gives you the option to pair it with plain or garlic rice (i think garlic rice goes best for your GG). Prepare another P20 since you may wish to have extra rice - since medyo bitin yung single rice for this yummy fish meal!
