The last time i went to a bar was ages ago.  I think it was Saguijo or Peligro.  I rarely go out on a Friday night as i think i am way to too old for the gig/band scene and i dont get the music that kids listen to nowadays.  I don't miss it,  to be honest.  I've had my share of the band scene ages ago.  I've watched Rivermaya,  Eraserheads,  The Youth,  Yano,  Datu's Tribe,  POT,  the purveyors of Pogi Rock - Razorback and Wolfgang perform live before they were even famous.  I've had sleepless nights spent at Club Dredd and spent Sunday Grabe Sunday at Mayrics.

Nostalgia and amnesia aside,  CMA booked a table for two for Ebe Dancel's birthday performance.  I was giddy.  I like Ebe,  i used to go NU 107's pocket concerts to watch Sugarfree perform.  If memory serves me right,  they performed alongside Radioactive Sago Project at Glorietta before (prior the explosion,  the spot where Fairmont Hotel is situated).

We arrived at Conspiracy an hour early.   The place is a house converted to a restaurant/bar.  I'm such a sucker for anything vintage.  We stayed inside,  no smoking zone!  Yey!  No second hand smoke!  We can sit comfortably and not be concerned of our lung health while watching Ebe perform.   We had dinner at Rock and Seoul prior so we settled on ordering drinks and bar chow.  I had the flavored beer and he got Cerveza Negra.  Sizzling mushrooms for bar chow.

Show started at 10pm, place is packed.  I can hear unfinished conversations from the table adjacent to ours.  Then Ebe sang a beautiful cover of Moon River - the room was silent.  All i hear is his voice and his guitar rift.   Man,  he is an anomaly.  I've never heard someone sing live and sound exactly the same as the CD.  Then he sang  Paalam Kahapon - my world stopped.  The live version is heart-wrenching and will make you feel all sorts of feelings.  Unjustified melancholy.

I am glad that there are still artist like him who is really passionate about music.  OPM ain't dead after all.  We need more artists like him.

Friday night spent at Conspiracy is one for the books.

I remember the countless of nights we spent here during college, listening to bands and chilling without a care in the world... Poetry readings are also held here, though I haven't been to one in so long!128077🏻

Great hangout place!128522

A good place to chill and listen to folk/alternative/upcoming artist/s and/or band/s.

They serve reasonably priced food that doesn't disappoint. Serving size is good for sharing.

CONSPIRACY OR “CONSPI” IS NOTHING LESS THAN A CULTURAL INSTITUTION THAT BLENDS KINDRED SPIRITS TOGETHER. SINCE IT OPENED IN DECEMBER 2002, IT HAS EARNED THE TITLE “BEST FIND” IN QUEZON CITY.

And one of the primary reasons why it’s known to be your home-turned-café is – apart from the amazing live grassroots music, apart from the legendary Cynthia Alexander, and the old stories you get from Sally, the resident staff (whose paella is sought-after by frequent guests) – artistic freedom. It won’t matter if you’re a square, a triangle, a circle or an abstract sketch. You enter and you melt with the music, the soulful belting of the artists’ songs, the wine, and with the dwellers both strange and familiar, almost immediately. On occasion, you will even be asked to read your mind aloud, to sing along on stage, and probably tell stories of things past and present. But if you’re there for the sole purpose of immersing yourself in authentic art and good vibes, then come over for Salinawit (open mic) where professional artists and like-minded people like Pete Lacaba, Dulce, Rizza Hontiveros trade and share their thoughts and songs for the audiences’ listening pleasure.

The place is very cosy. With the ambiance and the friendly people will float you away in conspiracy. Here is where you can adopt the music intimately while the artist plays.

Watched my friends gig here in Conspiracy. The place is really SMALL. The instruments provided by the bar (amps, drums, and mixer) were all crappy.

It was kind of hot inside too. This place is one of those crowdsourced saunas.

It's a nice place for gigs and a few drinks. Sometimes it's fun to just go out and hear people play and not have to shell out seven grand just to be able to see their faces.
