One of the main landmark and attraction of Corregidor Island is the Corregidor Island Lighthouse. You should not missed this historic place in the Island of Corregidor. According to Philippine History and Geography, the light station was one of the most important lights in the archipelago. It was established in 1853. The lighthouse was the guide of the ships and boats going to Manila Bay. It is also one of the oldest lighthouse in the country. The oldest one was in Pasig River before and the other one was in the nearby island called Caballo.

During World War II the lighthouse was damaged. The Japanese heavily bombed the island and the lighthouse did not survive the bombardment.

In 1950's after World War II, the lighthouse was rebuilt using some of the original stones from the ruins but using different design.

During our visit in Corregidor Island Lighthouse, the aesthetic view of the light station will remind you how Filipinos and Americans fought and suffered to the Japanese bombing of the Island of Corregidor.

At the ground of the lighthouse today is a houses of souvenir shop for tourist like us where we can buy ref magnets, T-shirts, paper holder and many more.
