We have dined here a couple of times since they relocated. You can now choose between the al fresco and airconditioned dining areas. Some of the food are displayed at the counter and you can order from there or from a menu while seated.

No matter how many times I eat here, I always get the Pork BBQ, Ensaladang Talong and Garlic Fried Rice. I still love all of them. The Pork BBQ is marinated just right and I love it swimming in vinegar. The Bagoong of the Ensaladang Talong is on the salty side but the salad is perfect with my BBQ. The Garlic Rice is so flavorful and garlicky. Although the servers said it was good for 2, it could be shared by 3 people.

The rest of the family ordered Papaitang Kambing, Crispy Dinuguan and Sotanghon Soup. They liked the Papaitan. I've tried Papaitan before and I didn't like it so I didn't bother this time around. The Crispy Dinuguan tasted great. Some pieces were sinfully crunchy but some pieces I could really feel the fat and oil. The Sotanghon Soup arrived last and when we were done eating. They should rename this to Chicken Sotanghon Soup since it had Chicken pieces. No wonder it took so long, they had to cook the chicken well. This tasted like Tinola but with Sotanghon noodles that were too little and too slippery. Their Yema although a bit sweet was a good palate cleanser.

Service needs improvement. They seemed unorganized and to think only a few tables were occupied. They gave us glasses but no water. We had to follow up the Sotanghon Soup 3 times. The bill took several minutes. Even the table nearby was following up 1 of their orders.

Their exhaust should be checked too as the place was getting smokey. The smoke from the outside grill was drifting in each time the main door was opened.

I still love my Pork BBQ, Ensaladang Talong and Garlic Rice but it will take a while before I come back. Hubby needs more convincing for a return visit.

Had our early dinner here today. I wanted soup so we ordered Sinigang na Baka (php 170) and liempo. We were supposed to order pork bbq since we heard that it's their best seller. Too bad that 2 big groups came before us and they ordered the bbq. They were offering us inihaw na baboy instead of pork bbq because the bbq were still frozen. Confused ang lola niyo, pareho lang ang inihaw na baboy at pork bbq diba? I asked what's the difference pero sabi ng ale inihaw na baboy na nasa stick. So I have to effing clue, is it pork bbq or what. I feel bobo tuloy. Paki-explain please.

Anyway we ordered liempo instead.

It received thumbs up approval from picky-eater daughter and she finished 1 cup of rice.

One guy who served us, medyo lolo age na. Nakakailang tuloy nung siya yung nagbigay ng pagkain namin. Dapat baligtad diba, tayong mga bata ang nag-serve sa matatanda.

Anyway, looking forward to be back here. Sana by then matikman na namin ang pork bbq nila hehe.

A trip with my best girl friends lead us to this restaurant in Katipunan. I picked up my high school gals pals one at a time in each of their offices until we met up with the last one in our group here in Katipunan. They were all hungry and a friend said we should try this place because she's eaten here before. You can find this on the Katipunan side heading towards blue eagle territory.

This place was a surprise. I would never eat here if it wasn't for them. It's a Filipino eatery, like a bonggang carinderia or inuman place, depending on the time you visit. Though I didn't attempt to, I have this feeling that if I order a soda for take out they'll put it in a plastic bag for me. Barbecue is grilled right before you enter.

We liked this chopsuey the most. Veggies were fresh, not limp nor overcooked the way other restaurants make them, still with a crunch to them. We ordered another plate of this because we liked it a lot.

So my bro brought me up north to this place last night. They serve Filipino food and grilled stuff such as Isaw, etc. The sisig is to die for. (I rarely eat this)
I would prolly go again for a few beers, sisig and more isaw. Pls excuse the pics as we hurriedly ate the food. 128514

Back when we were dating, hubby and i used to fulfill our BBQ cravings here. We would park along the road and smell like BBQ when we went home.

We were really sad to see the original place demolished. Hubby was ecstatic when we finally found the time (and parking space) to visit the new location along Katipunan in between Conti's and Iceberg's. This was a much much more upscale and airconditioned version of Countryside (they still have an al fresco area)

Carinderia/turo turo style still but there are more chairs and tables for diners. Plus a flat screen tv hanging on one of the walls.

On the table
🔹Pork BBQ- this was a no brainer. We loved it still and i liked it even more paired with their vinegar.
🔹Ensaladang Talong - pretty presentation but i had to cut and toss the pieces on a separate plate to avoid spilling. Just the right saltiness and the perfect match to my BBQ
🔹Garlic Rice - extremely salty, like chunks of rock salt were thrown in. Server said an order was good for 2 but i think it could be shared by 3 people.
🔹Adobong Pusit - didn't look pretty but they loved how it tasted
🔹Lechon Paksiw - we've had better
🔹 iced Tea - came in a tall glass. Mom and lola found it too sweet so they added water
🔹 Sago Gulaman - a really huge serving. Just what i needed for a hot day.

Hubby fell in love with the place. He swears he will keep coming back (must have said it 3 times) 128540

As for me, i'm going back for the Pork BBQ and Ensaladang Talong. 128525. We left the place without smelling like inihaw 128516

Our go to place after boxing. (Seriously thinking about transferring gyms because my friend and i are gaining weight lang 128517)

I really like the isaw here. Best paired with hot rice, soda, and atchara. Countryside atchara (pickled raddish) is the best!

Apart from Mang Larry's, this is likewise our go-to for pork barbecue and isaw! They also have kaldereta and papaitan, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Karen and her ninong introduced me to this place almost 3-4 years ago. It definitely is a great place to overeat, bahay-kanto ambience din kasi so mapaparami ka ng kain. All time favorite ni Karen yung kambing, forgetting the name though (kaldereta?) :(. I always have the grilled ones: liempo, bbq, chicken ass, isaws. And lastly, the finisher: a small plastic sachet of Cow Label as a dessert!

Lutong bahay concept. The carinderia setting that we as middel class students can all relate. The barbecue pork and chicken is already an institution. The lechon kawali is the best for me. All the home cooked dishes and more...

no one comes between a man and his beer. A no frills place which has been an institution for i dont know how long. come here if you want your basic ice cold beer and barbecue. Try their tokwa't baboy.. pretty good , especially since they use lechon kawali (who doesn't these days?) in the dish. tip: dont leave valuable things in your car when parked along katipunan. keep an eye for tow trucks as well.

Over-priced carinderia. Perfect for a laid-back lunch or dinner with laid-back friends. Usually eat here with UP friends. Love their tenga, isaw, lechon kawali and all the unhealthy innards one can think of. :)

If you're into side-of-the-street, carinderia-type joints, this is a pretty good place to grab a few sticks of BBQ when hunger strikes in the middle of the night.

At around P30 a stick, it's a steal! Sisig's pretty good too (but kinda pricey at P200) If you ever drive by Katipunan late at night and see a row of cars right before hitting the flyover (heading north), you should know where this place is.

If you don't like smelling like smoke afterwards and prefer a restaurant with actual waiters, this place ain't for you. :)
