Finishing up what's left of my birthday cake (that I bought lel), a.k.a. the chocolate caramel cake from Cravings, a.k.a. THE BEST CAKE EVER. I swear. If this could be my wedding cake, it would be. And I don't see why not LOL.

My mom noticed how heavy the cake was, literally, when she took it out of the fridge last Saturday. Well for P1100+, it should definitely be more than just air! The dense chocolate cake, frosted with rich caramel icing is well worth the hefty price tag that I don't mind paying for my own birthday cake! (IS THIS HOW TO ADULT) I mean, I have it once a year so why not splurge on something I love?

I'm glad that they had it when I paid a visit to Cravings the afternoon of my birthday. There was one year when all I was left with was the white version of this which was just not as delicious. The birthday gods have smiled upon me!

Yeeeeesss. It was my birthday yesterday, and I was surprised by my dad with this exquisite cake. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST CAKES THAT I HAVE EVER TASTED. The cake is moist, not too sweet, and simply delicious. And it is huge! I had to slice it a bit thinner because the cake base itself was thick and moist. The buttercream was so good and with the immaculate swirls of caramel on top, I literally ate it more slowly. You got to try this. You won't be disappointed. :))))

Cravings is well-known for their unlimited soup and salad offerings.

I tried some dishes when my family and I ate there last April 5, 2015. Here's the rundown of the ones I tried:

128031 Almond Crusted Fish-Fillet 128031
This was the one that I ordered. The serving was huge. I think it was one whole dory that they served. I didn't order rice because it already had potato chips. Those were a disappointment though as they were chewy and soggy instead of crispy. What establishment serves chewy potato chips?? Apparently, Cravings Katipunan does. Oh, and the tartar sauce? Forget about it.

128020 Chicken Bang Bang 128020

This was their version of a sweet and sour soy chicken dish. It really didn't work. The meat was a bit tough as well. Definitely not going to order this next time.

128020 Chicken ala Pobre 128020

This dish was very salty in my opinion. And this is coming from someone who doesn't mind salty food. I just think if they could tone down the saltiness a bit, it would be something I can look forward to the next time.

127861 Cream of Lettuce 127861

This was the one that saved them. Just right and exactly as I remembered it from way back. I think it's best to start off your meal with this and maybe go back to end it with soup as well IF you don't like your food.

Overall, I was just surprised that I didn't enjoy my experience here. I've dined here before and the food before was absolutely great. I'm still hoping that the next time would be a more enjoyable experience for me.

One of the best birthday cakes ever! It was not too sweet, which is one of the qualities of cakes I love. The chiffon was soft and moist. Definitely going to come back for another! :D

We frequent this place for their breakfast buffet, which I think is pretty reasonably priced for what they had to offer.

The rice is always perfectly cooked. I love how tasty their tocino is, and how they cut it in small portions so you won't have to worry about leftovers (they don't charge leftovers BTW). I also like their cereal selection. So neatly arranged and the milk is always fresh! Finally, the fruits! Super fresh and yummy.

A great place to get together with friends and chill out.

Had lunch here c/o our dear friend Harry who was celebrating his birthday. We ordered meals which entitled us to the soup and salad buffet. The salad was okay. It could've been better if they had bacon bits (I love bacon!) and Parmesan for the salad bar. Oh, I would've loved it even more if they also served vinaigrette (they only had balsamic, Asian and something else aside from mayo based dressing). There were around 4-5 variants of soup with a number of toppings for them (chopped fried garlic, chives, potato skin, croutons etc). They also served bread with butter, jam and peanut butter. I had 3 servings of soup to go with my Chicken Bang Bang order (around P350 which included the soup and salad buffet). My friend Steffi ordered their almond crusted fish. The serving was huge and it looked like it can be shared. However, I noticed that there were only a few pieces of almonds in the crust. What I imagined was that the fish was covered with almonds. Since it was our friend's birthday, we asked our server if they had anything (cakes, cupcakes, whatnot) for birthday celebrants. Sadly, the waiter said they don't give any. So Steffi and I decided to just order a slice or mini cake for the celebrant. When I asked the manager and told him I was picking a cake for my friend who was celebrating his birthday, he told me that the cake was on the house. AWESOME! 127775127775127775127775127775. I picked the chocolate caramel cake. They served it with a candle and a Happy Birthday song. Yay! 128079128077 the cake was very moist and soft. The birthday celebrant liked it. 128076

I would say that they really take care of their customers. 128521 more power Cravings Katipunan!

Almond crusted fish had so much almond. It was good at first, since I love almond, but at some point I was already looking for more of the fish's taste? Maybe it was just me.

Their apple-cucumber-lime drink was good too. But I think it would be better with more apple and less cucumber. 128540

Their cakes look cute and interesting! Tried three flavors and they tasted fair and fine, though I wasn't crazy and raving for them. Still good though 128523

Classes got suspended midway through the day last Friday, so my mom and I went off to Katipunan for a late lunch before heading home. She was craving (ha ha pardon the pun) for some salad, and knowing Cravings' unlimited soup and salad promo (P265), decided to eat here.

They have free valet parking service! That helped a lot, as all parking spaces facing Katipunan were filled plus it was raining hard.

The interiors of the restaurant were reminiscent of an old, regal house, with old wood stairs, high ceilings, and quaint chandeliers. Nice.

I ordered the Baked Fish in Olive Oil (P340, pictured). Included in my choice of main course was the unlimited soup and salad promo. After ordering, our server asked me if i would like some soup. They had two kinds: cream of asparagus and vegetable soup. I opted for the vegetable soup. She got the soup and served it to me. Great service!

I found the soup quite oily and salty though. Maybe it's because of the soup stock?

I went over to the salad bar, and it had just the basic ingredients for a salad. I'm sad they didn't have gelatin, salad croutons, and white onions though. :( at least the ingredients were fresh!

I just didn't like the layout of the buffet spread. It was salad-cakes-soup. The thing is, the cake/dessert option isn't included in the unlimited soup and salad promo. Why on earth would you put the cakes in between the salad bar and soup part? Me no comprende!

You'd have to pay an extra P200 for the unlimited cakes. That would total to P465 for the soup, salads, and cakes. Not worth it. There were only four cake choices. And the slices were bite-sized pa. Nakakawalang-gana.

My order arrived just as I finished my third plate of salad. The fried noodles served as garnishing were disappointing. They tasted like old oil. Bad! X(

The very small serving of vegetables disappointed me as well. But then again, there's a salad bar for my vegetable fix. Oh well!

Nice that they put lemon to go with the baked cream dory fillet. Even if cream dory isn't the most 'malansa' fish, it's nice to have some citrus flavor! The fish went well with the shallots, garlic, and capers it had as toppings. Harmonious flavors in my mouth!

The rice pilaf got me a little confused though. It looked green, so I guess it was cooked in olive oil and parsley. It tasted... Weird. But with the fish, it was a good accompaniment!

I finished my meal nonetheless. AND I went back for another helping of salad! HAHA.

Overall, a decent meal with great service. I was stuffed! The prices are kind of on the high range though.

I felt sad that they didn't have my favorite chocolate caramel cake when I went to buy my birthday cake for mah party. :( I settled for the closest thing they had to it, their white chocolate caramel cake. Nowhere near as good, since I'm not a fan of white chocolate.

The chocolate cake base is still AMAZING though. Moist and oh-so-heavenly. But the lack of caramel is a total bummer.

While service was good and fast, I was a bit frustrated that they kinda limited my choice by showing me only one menu. Yes, there was another menu pala ... and a better one. The C2 menu offered a better selection of local food that Cravings is known for. I had to settle for the bacon burger, it's good but small. Advise, be sure to ask for the C2 menu!

The service is superb!!! They gave us the best place in the house, a big comfy couch near an electrical socket for our gadgets.

Ordered unli cakes and coffee, the selection was limited to carrot, smore-like, and chocolate cakes. But, they were very attentive when I pointed out my dismay, and they brought in cherrry almond cheesecake just for moi!!! Great job guys.

Couldn't really take all that sweetness after a few bites. We just enjoyed the homey feel of the place. Definitely a great place to unwind. We were the last customers out!

I liked the crispy pata, the skin was crunchy and I always appreciate it when places cut it up for you coz I'm lazy like that. Flavor-wise though, it was nothing special.

Had the batangas bulalo too and found the broth to be a bit bland. Very generous with the meat servings though.

Didn't like that 2 of the dishes we initially wanted to order weren't available. That's always a bummer.

The service was really good though. Servers are smiling and are pretty attentive to diners.

baked fish in olive oil was so soft and has such a delicious delicate taste. perfect with steamed. white rice. the sumpia, their version of fried lumpia, was crispy and has a sweet salty taste. the meatballs cocktail (not the one with spaghetti) is a steal at P190. The medium size meatballs come in a rich tomato sauce with real tomatoes and lots of parmesan cheese and served with toasted garlic buttered baguette. mmmm 128522 oh, iced tea of cravings is one of the best i have tasted.
