We had our family dinner at Crisostomo! Yaay! We ordered different dishes.

Protacio's Pride - my favorite! 128525
Baked New Zealand mussels with garlic and cheese P345

Enseladang Erehe
Tomato, mango, onion and bagoong P195

Tinapa and Salted Egg Rice P265

Adobo Rice P265

Siningang ni Kapitan
Sinigang na hipon P450

Don Maximino
Hot and spicy crispy pata with garlic sauce, atchara and soy vinegar P695

Ka Plaridel
Binukadkad na pla-pla with soy calamansi P325

Gising Gising
Chopped green beans cooked in coconut cream with shrimps, onions and chilis P295

Their interior exudes a Spanish vibe, i like the cozy and warm ambiance! They also offer home-made cookies, spread, etc. They have good staff, when the resto is full, you have to keep a little patience for the waiting time. It's good for family gatherings, meetings and even on dates! We'll definitely go back! 128525

I went to Laguna last week for work. We had a foreign visitor and so of course, he had to be taken to a Filipino restaurant. And also, he asked for it. He has had Filipino food for more than a week and never got tired of it. 128514 Anyway, we decided to have lunch at Crisostomo in Nuvali.

We ordered the following, for 6 persons, based on what our visitor wanted to try, and what we wanted him to try:

🔹Bolas de Fuego. It would have been fun for him to try deep fried fish and squid balls on the streets but of course, we could not do that. So this was perfect. An order, with a few sticks of fish and squid balls, comes with the usual fish ball sauce as well as sweet chili sauce.

🔹Sinigang ni Kapitan. This is Sinigang na Hipon. This was good, had the perfect sourness for me.

🔹Sisig Linares. Their pork sisig was the crispy kind. It was good and tasty.

🔹Corregidor. Well, this is one of the dishes that we wanted our visitor to try. Dinuguan. A dish I don’t eat. And he liked it. I think he even loved it.

🔹Don Rafael. I liked their Crispy Pata. Skin was really crispy and the meat was tender. The taste was classic.

🔹Kare Kare ng Kura. This is another dish for the visitor to try. He liked it but not as much as the dinuguan.

🔹Adobo Rice. I only had a few of this and I could not actually recall if it really had that adobo taste. An order of their flavored rice is probably good for 4 people.

🔹Tinapa & Salted Egg Rice. This is very flavorful, it could pass as a meal on its own.

🔹Soledad. As if the visitor hadn’t had enough, we asked him what he wanted for dessert. He actually wanted something light as he was already full from everything he’s eaten. But, being Filipinos, the dessert had to be “carbs” again. And so we ordered this mango and suman with hot chocolate for him. When it came, he said he would have to share it because it was too much. But that did not happen. He finished it alone.
128514

🔹Campeon Turon. We had this to share, I think there were more than 3 thin turons served in what seemed like a glass for halo-halo.

Typical Filipino dishes, but surprisingly good. This was my first time to try this restaurant. Normally if I'm hankering for Pinoy food, Kanin Club or Abe's is the place I go to. Now I can add Crisostomo as an option.

I realised this place has funky smell on a Monday where there's not much people. Come here on weekends and you won't detect the funkiness. Staff here are mixed. Some are at par but most are walking dead. Food is ok, I find it generally salty. It's pricey for me for filipino dish of course esp if you think you can cook it by yourself. They serve nice desserts though like the manga and suman or the ginumis.

Somewhat pricey yet worth it. I was impressed with their menu because of the unique and funny names like Crazy Sisa Squid, Pilosoping Pakbet and many others. 128149

We wanted our supplier from Spain to taste Adobo so we went here on our way to a meeting. Aside from Adobo, we also ordered Lengua, Laing and Grilled Panga ng Tuna. Our supplier liked the Adobo. The rest of us Filipinos also liked it but we agreed that homemade adobo will always be better. The Laing was meh; Mesa has set the standards so high for me that no one has able to come close. The Panga hmmm di ko type. But the winner of our visit: the Lengua!! It was so good that I scraped the plate clean. Haha. We were in a bit of a hurry so the quick service really helped. 128077

I cannot believe that i'd still get disappointed after our second visit. I thought we just ordered the wrong food the first time we got there... Coz it didn't appeal to our palate and wasn't friendly with our pockets. But i guess this time, it's confirmed. We are never, ever going back there. The service was just so bad. We didn't wait to be seated. And it was supposed to be a good sign because there wasn't much crowd when we went in. Took 30 mins for our food to be served. And an hour for our drinks. We had to ask for service water ( which also took so long) because we were about to finish our meal and our drinks have not arrived. My bottomless malunggay kalamansi juice took ages. So much for the refillable drink, i was almost full with water and food. The bar was crowded with used glasses. We were wondering if no one was tasked to wash them right away. I even got the feeling that the bartender just rinsed the slightly used glass when we asked for another round of water. It ended up that we were just too scared to drink from it. Sad because we were celebrating two occasions, a birthday and a confirmation. We spent nearly 5 thousand for something we all didn't enjoy. Chef florabel, i hope you keep an eye on this branch. Yes, it has been featured at kris tv... But it was way way too far from what we expected.

Our first three orders were not available. Tsk. What we ended up ordering was Pork Sisig, Beef Tenderloin in Olive Oil and Garlic, Laing with Lechon Kawali and Crab in Garlic and Butter.

The sisig was good but most of it was super crispy that it was hard to chew. I really liked the beef! Tender and savory! Not so much though when I saw an eyelash on top of one chunk. 128563 The laing was just 128534!! The lechon kawali were huge but they were dry and hard to slice. The crab was fresh and flavorful but the butter taste was different than what I usually taste. Parang di butter. Nonetheless, it was still good. 128523

Another downside are the extra many langaws flying around the restaurant. 128528

I used to love Crisostomo. This time I was a bit disappointed because of the many BUTS in this experience. 3 stars for now.

Will u look at that? 128556128558 how sinfully delicious is that!

Although the service was really slow because the family dined here on a Sunday, the resto still gets quite a good rating bec of the quality of the food that they served us.

Try crab in adobo sa gata (it's messy to eat bec of the thick sauce), baked oysters, yummy chicken tinola, ensaladang mangga, adobong pusit, and melon juice.

Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio or Crisostomo Ibarra those are few names that you'll think and say Filipino but how about food? Crisostomo + Filipino Cuisine = happy tummy! 128540128521 I love sisig so I was kinda "critic" whenever I order it and their sisig is too much crispy for me but the taste is good (it was a so-so). Sinigang sa miso is always for my nephew but he didn't like it cause of too much yellow color (due to old school sampaloc that makes super asim- that makes me good). I used to only eat Kare-kare cook by my tita then when there is no sisig to be taste kare-kare is next in line and so we try seafood kare-kare and I can say that you can be full by rice and sauce (I base on the sauce if it is good or not). We order other dish and all are great as well as the service and place. Sorry, I forgot to try their dessert so next time I will return for that..hihi 9786
P.S. For first timer, check on the picture and description of dish since some of the name is a bit unique.

Filipino food FTW. Our team ordered a lot but I had a chance to try a few dishes only. First was the fried chicken which didn't have anything special. The kropek that served as the side dish of the chicken lack consistency - some were makunat already. Second was the bulalo. Didn't get to try the soup but it looked appetizing to me. I tried the meat and I found it soft and tender which made is very easy to eat. To my surprise, it wasn't also masebo. Third was the assorted grilled/fried plate. I had the chance to taste the fried bangus and grilled squid. Both were delicious in their own way. Fourth was the pork sinigang which was served late but was worth it. The meat was soft and the veggies weren't overcooked. Overall, the food didn't leave any aftertaste and the dishes didn't overpower each other so we were able to enjoy our meal.

Major turndown for this branch is that their service is a bit slow. We had to follow up our additional orders at least twice before it was served.

Just to note that it's good that they're using paper straws in their iced teas. :)
