Somewhere inside The Alley, a popular food hub in Kapitolyo, is a beach-themed restaurant called, Crunchy Crab. What sets apart Crunchy Crab from the competition is their clever take on seafood dishes. One of the owners, Kara Limchin, said that they are trying to reinvent seafood in a way that is fun and delicious. Despite this, their food is affordable because they source their products straight from the local suppliers. Crunchy Crab is fairly new; they started operating in October 2015.
Sure enough, the food that they serve is unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Their bestseller and understandably so, is the Soft-shell Crab Burger. Unlike the regular crabs which edible parts are within the confines its shell, soft-shell crabs can be wholly eaten. This is because soft-shell crabs are removed from the water as soon as they molt, thereby thwarting the hardening of their shell. Crunchy Crab found an ingenious way to serve these crabs and that is by covering it in bread, deep-frying, and using it as a patty of their burger. And I am absolutely in love with this burger, not only is it unique, but also quite yummy. I was close to devouring the entire burger but I had to stop myself lest I’d be full to try the other dishes. But for this burger alone, I am certainly going back Crunchy Crab.
Another unique food that is worth mentioning food is the Shrimp BLT; that’s right shrimp burger with bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Personally, I’ve never had a shrimp burger before so just like the soft-shell crab burger, this one won my attention, not to mention my approval because the patty is spicy, just the way I like it!
The dish that can use a little improvement, in my opinion, is the 3 Fish Pasta (sardine, tuna, and tuyo). I find the pasta dry, and a wee bit salty for my taste.
Eating seafood can be messy (hello crabs!); thank god Crunchy Crab provides plastic gloves. It made the eating even more exciting because I no longer had to struggle with the knife and fork.
So if you want a unique twist on seafood, try Crunchy Crab, and please don't forget to order the soft-shell crab burger. I swear you will love it!

I hate it that I don't have a single picture for Crunchy Crab. Sorry guys. I'll get it next time.
Anyway, I knew the menu here but it would still surprise you with its flavors.
Here's my personal experience for the softshell crab. Imagine waking up on a good mood. You go to your school/work. When that's done you leave for a date, when suddenly Manila traffic tries to ruin your day. It succeeds. You stay in traffic for hours and you're hungry. Bad trip di ba? So as you sat down, and took the first bite, suddenly everything's bubbly again. You feel as if paradise has landed on the tip of your taste buds. You like how the salty crab touches down on your tongue. You pop your eyes out of surpise, because some mangoes will surprisingly complete the meal.
Yup. That's my experience. The service was great as well. They were closing already but atill let us finish our meal in peace. I was expecting that they would tell us to leave at any moment but they didn't so kudos to the staff of Crunchy Crab.

Back in your arms Manila! ️ Eversince I moved to Cebu, whenever I come home to Manila, I now have a |ooloo list of must-try restaurants. This was one of them, and it was perfect because it was meat-less Friday. My bf and I were also celebrating our 11h month together so a small celebration was in order!
Everything about this place is great, the food, the ambiance, THE PEOPLE, the service, except probably its location. Ok, I blame Manila traffic on that, that location's ok. My bf and I were running late because of the traffic, and we knew the place was gonna close up for lunch by 2:30PM. I really wanted to eat here, so I called the restaurant and told them we were coming, and were just stuck in traffic. The lady graciously accepted our request. We arrived at exactly 2:25PM, 5 minutes before closing. The guards told us to have it for take-out instead but I begged for us to dine, and were given the rare chance to do so. I was so happy with the food and the fact that we practically owned the place.
We had the Soft Shell Crab Burger plus a side of Fries, and the Fish Taco, also with a side of fries. I really loved the crab burger! I've never had anything like it! The soft shell crab was crispy on the outside but juicy and flavorful on the inside. The mango salsa that went with it was great too! I'm also a sucker for their very good bun. ️ The Fish Taco was great too, although the mayo-based dressing was a tad too sweet for me.
I would definitely come back! Hope next time they don't close up their doors after lunch anymore.

Catchy part is the "Soft Shell Crab burger" well because literally your patty will be the crab itself. Upon serving, a little bit disappointed because it looks like a sad crab burger too much expectation maybe compare with the other post i've seen. The taste is good, weird to eat actually.
The best for me is their "Fish Taco" delish!! Coleslaw taste like kani salad Choco lava cake is

Well, well, well... What do we have here? A crab place in the back alley?! I don't think they have a sign outside, must not have seen it because the H was super excited to see a crab place in the Taco Vengo area. He was convinced to eat here after our tacos that he pre-paid his order, telling me he had to place it already because it takes 30 mins for it to cook. Im not aware of any purely seafood place in box/container restaurants, most box parks actually have almost the same cuisines and food concepts.
We got 2 original crabs for 350 each, fries for 50 pesos. They make it exactly how my Lola makes it so I was happy to be reminded of her cooking. The H couldn't help compare it to Claw Daddy's, our go-to crab place for big, succulent Crab Maritess, which we pay 1200-1600/piece. Crab tasted fresh, not as meaty as we would've preferred, but for the price it's pretty decent. I loved that surprise quarter cob of corn in the bottom of the bucket, it sucked in some of the sauce and was a yummy ending to the dinner. Funny though how they gave us a garlic press instead of a crab cracker. I was too lazy to ask for that tiny fork/picker, I hope they have them though. They gave out gloves which allowed us to use our hands without reservations, yay!
Beachy interiors, very clean and spacious despite the small container size. If you're craving for for crabs, fish and shrimp that won't put a dent in your wallet this is worth the try.
I'd love to come back for the soft shell crabs. We just didn't have enough space in our bellies coming from Taco Vengo and the H just couldn't pass the place up.
"Eat, drink, beach, repeat."

Who would have thought that Soft Shell Crabs would make such awesome "burger" sandwiches? I am loving Crunchy Crab's Soft Shell Burgers.
Plainly put, this unique seafood sandwich treat consists of deep fried coated soft shell crabs, mango cilantro salsa and lettuce on a sesame seed bun. I loved that the whole soft shell crab was coated with a flavorful tempura-like crust that remained perfectly crunchy on the outside yet moist and tender on the inside (yep, crab skin , crab claws, crab meat, and all). Perfectly deep fried without being too oily. The mango cilantro salsa was a sweet-tangy garnish that nicely balanced the deep fried shellfish.
Aside from these crab burgers, they also offer soft shell crab tacos and other shell fish specialties with a twist.
The place may be a bit of a challenge to find. It sits hidden behind Nav and Longganisa Sorpresa in Kapitolyo (along United St across Ace Water Spa). One has to enter a narrow walkway. For foodies who would happen to visit, Crunchy Crab sits among a good list of "new" foodie places in a newish complex made of 2-storey repurposed container vans housing a number of new dining spots.
Crunchy Crab's Soft Shell Crab Burgers are highly recommended to foodie's who enjoy seafoods with a twist.
