I think this was made yesterday.. Tye cupcake itself was tough because it was left in the freezer over night. I wish they put more berries on top

Finally! I was able to try their Birthday Cake milkshake. Had it for take-out (and sharing!). At nearly 200 pesos for a milkshake I would say this was totally worth it! .... Not.

The take-out serving size was ridiculously small. The tip of the whipped cream on top of the milkshake itself didn't even reach the edge of the cup. It was about an inch below the lid. The milkshake was also too sweet- the sugar was too overpowering of whatever milkiness or creaminess the milkshake would've had. I wasn't much of a fan of the texture either. The milkshake was too thick (I know, when is it ever TOO thick?) and there were too many sprinkles in my opinion as there wasn't a sip without them. The cake bits made it all the more rough and grainy.

I know I said the serving size was too small but even then when I had someone to share this with we weren't even capable of finishing it 128532

I'm a sweet tooth, but this is just too sweet for me. 128532 I was glad I shared this with my friend, because I cannot finish this drink all by myself.

It's actually just in a tiny glass and I thought Php 200 for this was a rip off. But no. It was hard for us to finish it. It was hard to suck the milkshake into the straw. 128563

I think Kelis' milkshake is definitely better than this. No boys will go to my yard if I served them this.

All I can say is.. #umaygahd 128532

Banana speculoos milkshake.

Diabetes in a glass. Tastes exactly as advertised, except thicker. You'll run out of breath just trying to suck it through a straw.

Recommend to split one with someone else. For people who like sweets. And diabetes.

One of my Sonja favorites! Pistachio Berries and Cream. I like that this cupcake is moderately sweetened and the frosting wasn't screaming SUGAR.. The berries added an asim-hint to the cupcake. Balanced..

The only other cupcake I've tried from here aside from their famous Red Velvet is the one with the fruits and cream. I didn't like it so much. When it comes to Sonja's I really only have one treat in mind.

I've tried the red velvet cupcakes of some of their competitors but Sonja's is still hands down the best for me. The cake isn't so sweet, it's moist and dense but still fluffy. The cream cheese frosting has the most perfect consistency- thick and creamy, not lardy or buttery in texture. The taste leans more on the sweet side but you still have that tart quality of the cream cheese.

I usually see the crates of cupcakes being brought in every morning and the staff usually frosts them on site. Their store is just a stall near the escalators but they have tables for those who want to dine in.

Friendly staff. I just get weirded out whenever they shout "Hi welcome to Cupcakes!" because I always thought they were called "Sonja's" for short and not "Cupcakes". Haha!

127775 Ambiance - the different colors of tables and chairs attracts my attention, it's small tho.
127775 Value for Money - expensive
127775 Food - just okay
I don't know if it's just me but this is the reason why I only rated it 3 stars.

Red Velvet P85 - the cupcake is dry and the topping had too much granulated sugar. I am expecting something creamy, sweet and a little sour flavor of the topping but was disappointed.

Dessert Comes First P135 - I really didn't like it. The cupcake was so dry, the topping, I really can't identify what it is made of, so bland and so expensive!

PB&J P85 - the cupcake is not dry and the peanut butter flavor topping plus blueberry sauce is tasty.

Chocolate Overload P105 - I felt my money was wasted if I didn't ordered for this. The dark chocolate topping is perfect!

Along with Hainanese Delights, got some cupcakes to go as well. I chose the ones I haven't tried yet.

S'mores Tart (P88?)
-this was delicious! It has layers of rich dark chocolate ganache, marshmallow and cinnamon graham in a buttery chocolate crust topped with caramelized marshmallow. Rich chocolate goodness in a cup! Graham wasn't just crunchy but hard. It would be better IMO, if it's easier to chew but no big deal.

Pistachio Berries n' Cream (P120)
-looking at this green colored cake would make you think at first that it's green tea cupcake. Stereotyping! Haha It is brown butter pistachio cupcake with fresh strawberries and whip cream icing on top! Sarap!
