Cyma

It has been a while since I visited Cyma. It was my first time to try their branch at Edsa Shangri-La. It was a great experience as always at Cyma. They never fail to please my taste buds. I had:

Tonnos Salata (Coriander-crusted seared ahi tuna, mixed greens, feta, baked onions, homemade anchovies, roasted bell peppers, Kalamata olives, marinated potatoes, green beans, boiled eggs. Served with Cyma’s summer herb vinaigrette.) 1008410084100841008410084️ All time favorite!

Paidakia (Char-grilled lamb ribs. Served with your choice of side) for the side dish it is best paired with Roasted Potatoes (Marinated in lemon, garlic, oregano, Parmigiano Reggiano, EVOO.) 1008410084100841008410084

What a sumptuous lunch! Plus Cyma's crew are very accommodating. You'll love it here.

Hace ya un tiempo visité Cyma. Fue mi primera vez para tratar de su rama en Edsa Shangri-la. Fue una gran experiencia como siempre en Cyma. Nunca fallan a mi paladar.

Te va a encantar aquí.

First meet up for the year with my HS friends,Cel C and Andrea, in Shangri La last Sunday.

As early as past 5 pm we are in the mood to eat. I was so happy when the 2 ladies wanted to dine in Cyma... my favorite place. Not only that I love their menu but also most of it are healthy meals (#dietmode). This time, we chose what meal we wanted. And everything is for sharing.

Cel, ordered pita breads with hummus for appetizer. There were about 6 pcs of pita breads. You can never go wrong.

I ordered my ever favorite, Tonnos Salata (solo size P475) it has coriander crusted seared tuna, home made anchovies, roasted bell peppers, green beans, olives, potatoes and boiled eggs. Served with summer herb vinaigrette.

Then Andrea ordered, Greek Clams (P600, sharing) it has lots of clams, angel hair pasta, parsely, white wine and lemon. Sharing is quite big but we almost finished it. This is how good this pasta is.

Verdict: solo size in this place is quite big. Like the tonnos salata which can be shared by 3-4 pax. This time lets make an exception, we ordered sharing size of Greek Clams yet we almost finished it. This place has great meals to try esp when you're looking for something healthy. Ice tea is worth noting.. must try!

So happy to be back at Cyma in EDSA Shangri-La Plaza last Thursday. Its like a feeling of being at my dream place in Santorini. Accents of blue and white, wine bottles as decor, ropes that covers the ceiling and wooden tables & chairs. Nice place to catch up with my dear friend, who happens to be my regular food buddy in Cyma. Why? We have the same favorite & none of our friends like the food we order whenever we dine in Cyma.

We had our favorites:

Tonnos Salata (P475 for solo size)festive looking as ever, solo size is good for 2-3pax. Made up with Coriander-crusted seared ahi tuna, mixed greens, feta, baked onions, anchovies, roasted bell peppers, Kalamata olives, marinated potatoes, green beans, boiled eggs served with Cyma's summer herb vinnaigrette. The best salad for me 128522 plus chili oil makes it more palatable

Spinach Artichoke Fondue (P390) melted cheese with sundried tomatoes & feta. Served with pita breads.

Iced Tea (single glass for P90) ever refreshing and love the taste. This is not the usual ice tea.

Food: quality & healthy food options. Over the years of visit, they are consistent of taste & freshness. Food servings are generous, no regrets 128522

Ambiance: clean and cozy. 2 yrs ago they have renovations, almost the same yet it has improved

Servers: pleasant servers and knowledgeable of what they are serving

it tasted different. not that good anymore.

half slab baby back ribs 128077128077128077 before when i eat this I don't need the side sauce that it came with, it was tasty already. now you need the sauce. without the sauce, it tasted like non-marinated ribs.

roka salad 128077128077128077 it lacked the shaved cheese and sun dried tomatoes

chef salad 128077128077128077 it lacked some taste

Apologies, this is going to be quite long. Tonight, my mother wanted to eat here specifically as she had been craving for Greek food. We were here at 6.30pm today (May 28), 5th on the waiting list. A long table of 10, quite hard to seat. But then, at 7pm the reservation preventing us from getting seated still has not arrived. At 7.15 still no show. So at 7.25 we finally asked Ms Judy the manager for a table for us. Well, she said the ones on their reservation list were *regular guests*. They could not just give the table away, even after our 45 minute wait. To cut the story short, we ended up going to another restaurant, after Ms Judy the manager insisted that it has not been 15 minutes since she tried to confirm the reservation. My mom was, of course, waiting patiently so she knew that it's been almost 25 minutes. They actually had no specific reservation policy when we asked how long they were going to wait for the guests with the reservation.

I would like to thank Ms Judy the manager for ruining my mother's birthday weekend celebration. Because of her, we'll probably never become regular guests at this branch. Apparently, there's a different set of rules that apply to regular and walk-in guests here. So sad that my mom had to experience this kind of discrimination, on her birthday weekend at that.

Never again, Cyma Shangri-La.

Me and boyfriend just had our 1st year anniversary. I thought of spending it somewhere he hadn't have a taste of yet. He doesn't like pastas especially tomato pasta but this is an exemption. He love loved it so much and asked for the name of the pasta. Thanks for the wonderful night CYMA!!!!!

And I'm back. Most of my friends don't really enjoyed this place much. Lucky that I have a dear friend, Ate Susan, who enjoys and craves the same food in Cyma. "Kelangan pa ba i-memorize??!" then laugh! That's the scenario before ordering.

We ordered :
Spinach & Artichoke Fondue , solo size.. Its good for sharing. That's what I 10084️ about Cyma. This appetizer is served with breads + spinach & artichokes baked with sundried tomatoes & various cheeses.

Bottomless iced tea, is a must try when visiting here. Its not much sweet and its refreshing

And lastly, the reason why we're back is for their Tonos Salata . Or in layman's term its simply tuna salad. Coriander crusted seared ahi tuna with mixed greens, feta cheese, baked onions, homemade anchovies, roasted bell pepper, black olives, marinated potatoes, green beans and boiled eggs. Served with summer herb vinaigrette. Need to say more? The dressing complements every mixture 128077

Service: well, they have very pleasant servers. Should i say.. "Hindi puchu puchu".. Hehe! Seriously, they are some kinda attentive and some kinda nose bleed. Hehe

Cyma has plateaued in popularity for a while now. We used to frequent the branch in Shang and Eastwood. Its human nature for people to get "sawa" in anything and everything. No restaurant is immune to it, people will eventually get tired. That being said, we tried to order something different. I liked the lamb gyro I ordered. It's just the right amount of lamb and the sauce is divine. The usually order the flaming mangoes (OPA!) but I decided to give something else a shot. This chocolate lava cake a la mode was very sweet but the serving portions felt greedy. Its like they don't want you to share dessert. But I guess in the end, smaller portions would want you come back for more.

I've always loved eating at Cyma (and a lot of you here do, too!). But there were things about my visit to this branch with my family this afternoon that didn't sit well with us:

1. The Roki Salata they served us didn't have any feta cheese and barely any trace of arugula. Still good, but it lacked the flavor the dish is known for. (And our server couldn't explain the absence of fera cheese in our salad.)

2. I was able to consume barely a third of the entire solo serving of Greek Sea Urchin Spaghetti I ordered (see picture) and decided to take the leftovers home. When I checked it before placing it in the fridge, it looked like only a fourth of what I asked our server to pack was in the take-out container. I know that you should check every order you take out of a restaurant, but my family and I visit the branch from time to time and we've never had any problems while dining there in the past.

3. We were told that they were waiting for their catering staff to return from their gig, so they were folding table napkins and sorting out stuff. But for everyone in the front of house crew (there were about four or five of them) to gather in one spot to do these while there were a few tables filled with customers placing and waiting for their orders was a turnoff.

I sincerely hope that this review gets the attention of the concerned branch's manager because we were disappointed with today's service there. If not for the food we ordered, I would've given a lower rating for this review.

Please don't mind the duck face128035.

Can't believe this is my first review of this place cause I've been here at Cyma many times but we actually didn't plan to eat here we really wanted to try the Green Pasture but thanks to the long queue Friday night that didn't happen.

Anyway we ordered our usual artichoke fondue, roka solata and yuvetsi! They wanted the clams with angel hair but I won the coin toss so we ordered the yuvetsi which my uncle and aunts liked naman and they can't believe its not rice!

We always stay at the table near the balcony cause we think the inside looks a little cramped andd stuff.

Service was great as usual! They easily granted our request for extra parmesan for our salad. Hmm I wonder if they'll give me extra candied walnuts if I asked next time?

First time to eat in the renovated Cyma, and everything was great. The roka salata was as good as always, the yiouvetsi (now labeled as Greek Paella) was a lot better since it came with more protein as compared to before, and the artichoke toast was amazing!! Seriously haha my only comment is that the egg wasn't perfectly poached, but we all know how difficult it is to do so. :))

Really kind servers too. Go Cyma!

Had a nice late dinner with friends here on Sunday. I ordered fillet mignon with feta cheese on top and roasted potatoes. YUM. It was so good.

Kal K ordered the steak souvlaki (correct?) and said that his was slightly too well done for his taste and wasn't as tender as usual but we both enjoyed our food.

Got baby scallop, seared tuna, clam pasta and lamb rib.

Everything was smothered in oil. 128078

Baby scallop was ok.
Seared tuna was averaged. The huge tuna has some tendons or something that doesn't make the whole thing fun to eat like the little seared tuna.
Clam pasta was classic. 128077
Lamb rib was a bit tough.
