David's Tea House started in 2003 at Tomas Mapua Street in Chinatown. Since then, this chinese restaurant was able to expand and now operates in more than 20 branches nationwide. They started branching out in Laguna last year by opening in Calamba and San Pablo city.
It's an hour away from where I live but because of my car's quarterly periodic maintenance service I was able to visit them a couple of times for lunch. Pretty convenient since it's just across my car dealer. The ambiance is far from the quaint eatery during its humble beginning. It felt a bit of Gloria Maris in my opinion. I guess it's something to be expected since both of them are serving chinese dishes.
Their menu is extensive! Reading everything on the menu will surely take your time. Congee, noodles, rice toppings, dimsum specialties, short order dishes and the likes. My default order would have to be their chop suey as I'm still trying to shed a couple of kilos. The veggies are almost complete - broccoli flowers, baby corn, carrots, cabbage, green bean, bell pepper and mushroom. They always manage not to overcook the ingredients and the flavors are always on point.
On my last visit I opted for prawn with broccoli flowers. It's more pricy and yet I get less compared to their chop suey so I guess I'll stick with my staple dish next time.
The place is clean, good service from the crew and they have a reliable wifi connection.
