America's diner arrived here latter half of 2016 with the Bistro group's introduction of Denny's. I'm a sucker for the diner concept, which brings comfort food, all day breakfast, and greasy big portions to Filipinos. Perfect for the line up of the Bistro Group (TGIF, Italianni's, Moe's, Texas Roadhouse, Crazy Garlik, Village Tavern, Watami, etc.).

Worth a Try: Yes. Reco to try for first timers and curious folks, foodies and families alike.
Worth a Return: so-so 128528
Tips: Try the Slam dishes. Their dishes are good for sharing so it allows customers to order less plates. Plus it allows curious foodies to try more than one dish.
Verdict: Denny's has decent American diner food, a wide selection of choices, BUT the service of their dine-in staff needs to improve to be at par with Bistro group standards and be commensurate with the resto's price; in fact its service so far is inferior to IHOP and Pancake House, similar diner and breakfast establishments. Worth another look but not anytime soon with all the establishments in BGC and all day brunch places available in the metro. Free Wi-Fi inside plus parking is decent at Uptown Parade P35 for the first few hours.

(I'm trying a new format so readers can appreciate the summary at the start of my review. Let me know what you think.)

Denny's operates 24/7, which is consistent with many of these classic American diners operating in the States; further, it may be a convenient option for the party goers of next door Palace Pool Club, Valkyrie and The Brewery, looking to remove their buzz.

We opted to go here for breakfast (this is one of my real time reviews) on a Saturday morning, 3 months after their hyped opening last October, so things may have quieted down a bit. It's still about half full when we got here. And the turnover is good.

We ordered their Grand Slamwich, one of their myriad of Slam choices, which are skewed towards breakfast. The waitress claims which they claim to be among their best known menu items. Aside from the Slams, they also serve diner items like burgers & sandwiches, soups and skillets, appetizers and salads, & classics like fried chicken and fish dishes, and breakfast fare. So one wouldn't be lacking of choices here. And like I said, servings are a plenty.

The Grand Slamwich is a big chunk of sandwich filled with crumbled sausage, bacon, shaved ham and American cheese. The potato bread is quite good, but deadly, as it's spread with Maple spice syrup & perhaps butter while toasted. Crunchy good outside, with a slight sweetness. Nice. Served with Fries usually, but we converted to hash brown instead. P395 which my wife and I split. It's a good choice, enough to split between my wife and myself. Rating, 3.5/5

Also added an order of Pancake Puppies which looked so good on the menu. 6 Pancake puppies between the size of a Munchkin and Bomboloni. Sprinkled with Cinnamon sugar. Promising first bite as I loved the crunch of the outside, and I liked that the inside was a bit gooey; going for my 2nd, it was dry while still dense so it was not as enjoyable; the rest were like that so it was inconsistent. But I then tried putting maple syrup on it (they have one on the table), it was better. When we asked the staff which is the real version of the puppies, she pointed at the drier version. If that's the case, then it's okay, maybe worth the experience since it's fairly unique a side order, but best to limit to one per person. 6 was too much for a pair. P195 is a bit pricey too. Good presentation in a parfait glass. Rating, 3/5

Added a side order of sausage. They serve 2 kinds, a shueblig and a frankfurter. The shueblig is better, frankfurter is okay. Both sausages at P125. Decent. Rating, 3.5/5

Service of the kitchen was very good. We received the food fast enough (less than 12 minutes). But the service of the dine in staff needs improvement. Cases to point out:

> They asked us if we have the BFF card (aka Bistro foodie card) which we gave at the start. When we got our bill, the discount and free coffee weren't applied.
> It tough to call staff and like I said, it was not overly full for it to be chaotic.
> We encountered 3 different personnel so consistency was not present. We even told the supervisor that our coffee should be free to which he said that it will be automatic when the card is used, but it never was.

So the service, though not terrible, was inconsistent and unimpressive. Very un-Bistro like. Just came from Texas Barbecue last night and they were more full and we got that usual superb level of service (on a plus note, my wife left her Kidzania tickets there and their manager Niña kept it safely for us to get it back).

Ambience was nice for an all day diner, clean, brightly lit, makes use of wood accents well. Still new but I see minor imperfections in maintenance. It was annoying to see glossy retouches to the ur matte black accent upper wall towards the kitchen. The OC in me.

Ordered The Original Grand Slam and Chicken Bacon Classic. I liked the taste of pancakes but it could have been more moist. Bacon 🥓 was crispy while the sausages were tasty too! The chicken bacon classic was disappointing though. Chicken could have been marinated more so it will be juicy and tasty. It was just too bland and dry. 128556 Jollibee/potato corner/Mcdo fries are better too. Haha!
Delivery of our orders arrived around 25-30 minutes after. It was so slow to think there were few customers inside. Oh well 128556128522

We ordered The Original Grand Slam and Chicken Bacon Classic at around 7:45AM. The place was not crowded at all but it took our meals to arrive after 30 minutes. We were not advised that their waiting time for all of their dishes (even if you're the only customer there) is 20-25 minutes. The dishes were way smaller and very different from the menu's pictures. Chicken Bacon Classic is NOT extraordinary, the pancake was just so-so. Place has mosquitoes. They have free and decent WiFi though. Restroom was fine. No free parking. Prices/Dishes are somewhat cheaper/better than IHOP. Not going back to this place.

Pretty pricey (around 500 pesos per head), but the servings are huge and the staff is really attentive and friendly. Food tastes great, and I'd choose this over IHOP!

My 3rd at Denny's. After we dance and shout with Armin Van Buuren we planned to have breakfast first at Denny's before heading home.

Spicy Sriracha Burger for Php495.00 (Sriracha seasoned burger with cheddar cheese, bacon, pickled jalapeños, creamy sriracha sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onions served with brioche bun and side with fries) - 11088110881108811088️ 4/5
"Yes, its spicy but manageable and the burger is flavorful. I also liked the seasoned fries. But I find it expensive for Php495.00"

Chicken and Pork Adobo for Php295.00 (Chicken and pork simmered with vinegar, soy sauce and garlic served with egg and garlic rice) - 11088110881108811088️ 4/5
"Small serving for Php295.00"

Crispy Bangus Belly for Php325.00 (Pan-fried bangus belly served with egg, garlic rice and vinegar dip) - 11088110881108811088️ 4/5
"Masarap, kaya lang sunog."

I've been reading bad reviews about Denny's.

But I just love breakfast food. I could eat breakfast for lunch and dinner. LOL

I ordered their French Toast Slammer; french toast, sausages, bacon and eggs. This is also what I order in IHOP.

I waited quite a while for my order, but it was definitely worth it. It's huge! 4 big slices of french toast, bigger (than IHOP) sausages, longer (than IHOP) strips of bacon and two perfectly cooked eggs.

It's actually good enough for two people. I didn'even finish it. Mas sulit for me. I would definitely come back.

Dun sa mga hindi nasarapan, try the French Toast Slammer. YUMMY! As in.

Since I had a couple hours to spare today, because coding, I decided to try Denny's. I have expected it to be packed but it wasn't. Not too many diners at this time of the week, I guess. I got a booth with a clear view of the tv which shows NBA but without audio. Pwede na. The place is big and the booths have a bit of privacy coz it has glass panels in between unlike those at pancake house. The server was very accommodating.

I had a hard time choosing what to order since I am dining alone, I will only be able to taste just one dish. I decided to go for the bourbon ribs (P425). Served with bourbon sauce, rice and mixed veggies. I liked the veggies very much. Zucchini, carrots and squash. The ribs is just ok for me. I've had better. The meat was not fall off the bone. But the sauce is really good. It really had that distinct bourbon taste. I wish I ordered something else. 128540

For drink, I chose apple ginger from their fresh juices. I love it! It has lemon slices and lots of ginger bits. They can lessen the sugar a bit though. But I take my milk tea at 25% sugar or sometimes even 0%, so everything is a bit sweeter for me. Haha.

I wanted to order dessert but I am already so full. Maybe next time. If ever I am in the area. But I probably won't visit again if I'm dining alone. Price is reasonable naman.

This is not my first time at Denny's. I went here to avail the free Moons Over My Hammy given to me by their manager on the opening day of the breakfast place last month.

I also order Arroz Caldo for Php195.00 and paired it with Chamomile Tea. I got the tea for free because I used my bistro card.

Moons Over My Hammy (Original Price is 355.00 but I got it free) - 11088110881108811088️ 4/5
"Egg and ham sandwich version of Denny's"

Arroz Caldo - 11088110881108811088️ 4/5
"I like the chicken chunk in my arroz caldo. It's big."

Had Lumberjack Slam and Belgian Waffle Slam...nothing great ... service is super slow considering the place is not packed at all at 0200H. Waffles and pancakes were bland...their toast is a candidate for machakaw hahaha128515

Lumberjack Slam -- pancakes were very dry and not fluffy at all... the food on the plate actually felt like it was prepared and cooked a day before...

Buffalo Wings -- might be the best part of the meal...

I used to dine at Denny's when I was in the US so my expectations for their first PH branch were pretty high. Unfortunately, they weren't met. :( The food was pretty dry and there wasn't anything special to them. This will probably just be a one-time thing. :(

Not sure why some reviews have few stars but I think we had the best customer service.

We ordered Steak and Eggs and Ribeye Philly Melt and both were delicious and flavorful.

Steak and Eggs - I loved it! At first I wanted to change the toasts with rice and they said that it's okay but I realized that there's hash brown so I just had it as it is (I like that they allow it when you want to modify/customize your order). The steak may be a little bit dry. I had it cooked medium well. The sauce is really good though! The toasts are butter and not like your ordinary 'tasty' bread.

Ribeye Philly Melt - My boyfriend said that it's good and best to eat while it's still warm. He loved all the toppings specially the cheese!

Riz was our server. She was very attentive. She mentioned what the best sellers are and let us know what to expect. She made sure we've got everything we need. She apologized that they had issue with wifi but it got fixed after few minutes. When she noticed there was a fly near us, she immediately gave us a candle. Bravo!

The three-star rating is largely because of the comparative overall value that Denny's currently has over its contemporaries in the country. Denny's prices are generally affordable, considering the serving size, location, and the fact that it is a franchise. Personally, I like the huge and thick pancakes, sausages, and the signature hot chocolate (until it got a bit cold and you can see suspicious choco remnants floating in the cup). The diner ambiance, the table and menu colors, grand Manila Bay photo wallpaper, and TVs everywhere were good, too. Ah yes, there's also an extra restroom for ladies, weirdly though definitely favorable enough (for us. Hehe).

But its score is precariously close to a point lower, especially if Denny's don't do something about the horrible waiting time (to get seated and to deliver the order -- customers don't have to do a follow-up), the unavailability of signature items (hash browns, really?), and the inconsistency of service (it took a while to get another fork, and yet, for the loyalty card, the attendant was there in a flash). Food presentation could also use some sprucing up and please check the completeness of condiments per table the next time.

It would take me a long time to go back here. Food and place was good, but their service 128545 We would appreciate if they have taken our order and given the option to choose rice or fries, since hashbrown was no longer available. But none and just served it without explaining. The interval of serving our meal were 10mins, if I haven't made a follow up. Asked for the waiter why there was no hashbrown and her reply was she'll have to check and was even asking if we were offered rice or fries. Why am I ranting. Because the couple beside us have hashbrown and they came in after us. Our waiter even said that the hashbrown will be delivered in a few. Nothing. Instead we were advised by the manager that they will replace the hashbrown with a different add-ons. Thank you manager.

One of our first meals in California almost 10 years ago was at Denny's. I can not remember what we had but I recall huge platters of food. My social media feed has been flooded with Denny's posts since early this month so I was curious to check out the franchise. I had the chance to dine here with my in laws for late lunch last Saturday.

I had the humongous The Grand Slamwich. It was a kickass sandwich with scrambled eggs, crumbled sausage, bacon, shaved ham and American cheese on potato bread grilled with a maple spice spread. Every element was delicious and they all went well together. It wasn't overly sweet. There was just a hint of sweetness from the maple spread. I had a brief how-do-i-eat-this moment. I started slicing it up but it was getting messy. I decided to just squeeze it together and got down and dirty. I was expecting a bigger, crunchier and golden hash brown. It tasted great though with catsup.

Hubby's Ultimate Omelette pretty much tasted like my sandwich but with bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. He felt that we could replicate this at home.

The nieces Fish and Chips tasted fresh. They were seasoned right but I was expecting something crunchier. I kept asking for some of their fries. The kids shared this dish so we asked that it be split into 2 plates.

Bro in law's All American Slam looked sad on that huge platter. The menu photo looked way better.

Sister in law had the Blueberry Pancake Plate while mom and lola shared the Banana Pecan Pancake Plate which we requested to be split into 2. The Pancakes were huge and very siksik thus quite heavy on the stomach. The bacon looked a bit sad but it was very crunchy.

The Zesty Nachos were ok but we've had better. The meat got cold right away.

It was unanimous that the best dish of the meal was my Grand Slamwich for its unique, bold flavors and huge size. I didn't hear any complaints from the rest of the family but no one was jumping up and down either.

Service could and should be improved. They forgot about our additional Chicken Noodle Soup. We just cancelled it because it was still being prepared and lola was almost halfway done. Coffee refills took a while and they said it was still being brewed. Only 2 of us had coffee and perhaps because of the follow ups, they got confused. My sister in law was given 2 consecutive cups. We mentioned it to them and they still gave it to us since it was refillable anyways. Water took a while to be served and refilled. The person assigned to our station seemed rattled around the end of our meal.

Most of the servings are good for sharing except probably the Filipino food which looked small in the menu photos. We must have over ordered as we skipped dinner because we were still full.

My curiosity for the brand has been satisfied but I don't think I'll be back soon unless I am very hungry and craving for that Grand Slamwich.

*plus points for wireless credit card terminals. They swiped our card at the table
**2nd floor bridgeway between uptown mall and uptown parkade is not yet operational

Knowing that Denny's is a counterpart of iHop, i knew immediately that i should visit their first branch here in the Philippines to compare it with their rival. It was a Saturday morning and call time was 7:30am. Learned from Sandy P (yay! Wb to reviewing) that she was already waitlisted fir a few minutes.

Parking is very convenient since it's just infront the palace pool club (where, well, i could still see people coming out from partying!) ATM will be a little too far from this place (considering the mall is not yet open; the nearest is at the 30th Toyota--so better bring cash with you) but but but Denny's already accepts credit card.

We were seated at the corner where it's cushioned but the table was a little trapezoid and awkward if you were to sit at one part of the cushioned seat. The server immediately entertained us and gave her recommendations. She told us to try the lumber jack-- but upon seeing the menu, it was waaay too heavy. Lol. We ended up on getting their pancake set

128204128525 cream cheese cinnamon pancake plate @395php
Served within 5 minutes (no joke! Because we were early) we were aghast to see how big the serving was!
128073🏻pancake
The pancake itself is not commendable, ihop gets this point. BUT i really love the cream cheese and cinnamon drizzle!! (Also sandy's peanut butter and chocolate drizzle) without these, you can throw away the pancakes which were, in fairness, thick, a little stuffed but tasteless.
128073🏻hashbrown
Im gonna give this point to Denny's because it's not soggy nor oily. The oil used does not seem old (compared to my experience at iHop BGC one Sunday morning)
128073🏻sausage
Of course Denny's parin. IHop are smaller (sausage links lang kasi) plus Denny's are more stuffed
128073🏻egg
Sorry. Not gonna compare this one. Mejo too no brainer to compare it. Lol. Denny's will offer you either scrambled or sunny side. (I hope they do poached!)

128204128525 lemonade with oregano @135php
Love this refreshing, herby drink!

Service wise i think iHop does things a little faster. Denny's not that keeping up with the customer's demands. However, the latter makes it up by faithful servers who will always update you that your order will come out within 10 minutes (happened twice with Kristin A and Marc David M).

CR is good i noticed there are two CRs for ladies.

I still like Denny's more than iHop giving this place a little below 5 stars. Yes, Denny's is opening somewhere near Nuvali so super southern people may experience their food too! 128522
