One of my daily problems in life is figuring out where to eat. Mainly because I have so many places I want in and, despite having more than enough tummy space, my wallet will cry buckets of tears if I eat in all of them in one day.

When my cousin and I were in Megamall the other week, it took us around an hour figuring out where we want to eat. We initially ended up here in Din Tai Fung but, after we didn't find anything we want to eat besides Xiao Long Bao, we just decided to split a basket of that and move to another restaurant after lol

We went for the Pork Xiao Long Bao, which was good and flavorful. Always best eaten with the ginger and the vinegar. Though, I will always maintain that the Din Tai Fung branches overseas (like Singapore, for example) serve better Xiao Long Bao than the branches here. I wonder why that is 🤔

Our lunchy buddies Lorie Mae B celebrated her pre birthday at Din Tai Fung located in Ground Floor of SM Megamall.

This is not actually our first time. The place is always packed but on some days, waiting lines are empty.

Prices are actually affordable, you just have to know what to order. Servers are attentive and professional, they are very accomodating and friendly. Food was great!!!128523128077🏻9786

They also provide you with a basket where you can put your stuff or bags in while dining so, you'd be more comfortable and at ease.

Overall, it's a go-to restaurant for me. Superb!!! I Loved everything so far and would highly recommend it!

RATED ù Din Tai Fung!!!

Din Tai Fung is world famous for its Soup Dumpling.
It originated in Taiwan and is even part of the top 10 best restaurants in the world.
Megamall is one of the malls I rarley visit cause of its distance from my house So when I got the chance to drop by, I knew instantly where I will dine, DIN TAI FUNG! Whether you are a foodie or not, this restaurant is a must try wherever your are in the world 128076🏼

127845Pork Xiao Long Bao
Ohhhh lala! This isn't my first Xiao Long Bao but since this is Din Tai Fung and claiming to be one of the best in the world, I expected highly of it. I honestly didn't fell in love with it at first bite cause I find the wrapper to dry. But when the soup exploded in my mouth, I knew why people are going gaga over this! Classic. 100% DELICIOUS.
I liked the balance and proportion of the meat and the soup.

127845Crab Roe and Pork Xiao Long Bao
I was planning to try the Truffle Xiao Long Bao but its P135 per piece! Lol so I stopped dreaming of it and just tried this one instead. The texture is drier than the Pork Xiao Long Bao but I like the crab roe's texture and taste which added a slight sweetness to the Xiao Long Bao.

*Tip: Don't forget to use the dipping sauce which consists of vinegar, soy sauce and ginger

127845Shrimp and Pork Wonton with Special Spicy Sauce
This is a MUST TRY. Wontons are a staple in Chinese restaurants and this is one of the most uncommon recipes of wonton i've tried. I thought I won't it cause its spicy but it really isn't. It has this sweet, salty and a tinge of spicyness that makes it tasty! I remember liking it more than the Xiao Long Baos that night.

127834Salted Fish Fried Rice
I can't believe i've never tried Salted Fish Fried Rice, thanks to the boyfie for the reco. He told me he used to eat this when he was young and reminded him a lot of his childhood. I though it would taste like Tuyo lol, but it didn't. Twas good! Perfect pair with the Pork Wonton!

127854Golden Lava Salted Egg Yolk Bun
Ahhh Shreeeeet! This is my first salted egg bun in my entire life and it was delightful! When I saw the sexy Golden Lava come out of the bun, i drooled over it. I really love it though I find it pricy for P85 (2pcs.) and the size is too small I can finish it in one bite 128546 I really liked it and it's something I'd crave for from time to time.

127863Iced Rose Tea
When I saw this on the menu I got curious so I ordered it. The aroma was like that of a rose, it's so refreshing. And it tastes good too! Light and sweet!

Things to take note of:
✔️ They have a systematic queue system
✔️ The restaurant can accommodate a lot of customers bec. Of the huge space
✔️ They don't accept reservations

Happy that i've finally tried Din Tai Fung. 128525 I will definitely come back cause I have more to try on their menu!

Another resto off my to-try list! After what seems like a hundred years, we've finally visited SM Megamall again. Didn't really have any intention to try Din Tai Fung, but there was no lines and I've heard a lot about this place so we ended up having `merienda` here lol.
We got their...
Noodles with Minced Pork sauce - this was good, I liked this one. Texture of noodle was just the right amount of firm. There's also a lot of minced pork present in the dish.
Truffle and pork xlb - this was just meh. My mom and I agree that it's way overpriced, not something we'll be ordering when we come back here.
black pepper beef - !! we both really liked this one. I love this dish, and I think it really packs a lot of flavor.

Place is really big, they have a lot of seats. Orders arrived quite fast. Service was great. They also have their own bathroom (male and female are separated).

Xiao Long Bao at 340 for 10 pcs is just the right number of pcs for snacks. Soft Xlb skin with the right amount of soup inside. 128523

Chocolate overload with a trio of takaws who can't pass up a good deal - me, Kristin A, and Ang-ang P.

We just couldn't pass up the piso anniversary sale of chocolate xlbs in DTF. No limit and no extra purchase needed. Yes, we consumed 11 baskets. Kaming 3. Plus a few baskets of XLB and a noodle soup for my toddler.

Chocolate was rich and creamy. It was just soooo good. Sa uulitin DTF128513

I love DTF!

Their service was excellent, there were a lot of people but it looks like they've mastered the art of serving. Everyone was polite and every single one of them know what they're supposed to do. There were men and women on a chef's uniform delivering orders from the kitchen, then the other staffs on a more formal uniform will serve them. 128076🏻1108811088110881108811088

Food was great 1108811088110881108811088

Shrimp fried rice 127834🦐- bf was glad he ordered this it has a lot of shrimps and it was good as it is. 128076🏻10084

Crispy pork and shrimp wonton 🦐128022- it was okay, the wrapper was too thick for our liking but it was good. 128522

Steamed veggie wonton with spicy sauce 127841- 6pcs. all mine! 128077128523

Hot prawn salad 🦐🍽- this was really good 10084128522

Noodles with spicy peanut sauce 127836- this was good but I think I prefer the one with the house special spicy sauce. 128517

Buchi- too much filling 128514128541

Chocolate xiao long bao 127851- yum! Too small for me and 3 pcs. Per order ☹️... But it was really good!

* Chicken and Pork XLB
* Sweet and Sour Prawns
* Shrimp and Pork Wontons in Spicy Sauce
* Steamed Fish
* Shrimp Fried Rice

Ordered the salt and pepper squid as well but its out of stock..

Wish they would improve on serving the refills for hot tea since if you ask for a refill it takes them time.. other than that.. food was delicious as always.

Lunch date with my constant lunch buddies, Yna N and Lorie Mae B So its our first lunch out of the year and thought of having sumptious Lunch in Din Tai Fun. We ordered our favorites:

Chicken wings in shrimp paste (P185)

Shrimp & Pork Wanton with House Special Spicy Sauce (P175 for 6 pcs)

Salted eggyolk prawns (P375)

Fried rice with sweet garlic and scallions (P100)

Food: Tasty and yummy! The salted eggyolk prawns is my favorite. The fried rice we had is good for 3 pax, which is sulit for me.

Don't you just love Din Tai Fung?🙃

I remember being disappointed during my last visit at this branch. It was during the time when the local staff was left to their own devices. They were initially trained by staff who flew all the way from Taiwan, where DTF is originally from. During said visit, the service was just okay and the xiao long bao was noticeably dry. But, it seems like it is just growing pains on their part.

Months have passed and my fiancé and I were again craving for DTF's XLB. We sat down ready to order our go-to dishes when the salted egg squid caught my eye, part of their new menu. We (actually, just me) decided to skip the truffle XLB and try out their squid. Of course, the 10-piece pork XLB and the salted fish fried rice (which my fiance absolutely loves) had to be ordered.

The pork xiao long bao was gone faster than you can say pork xiao long bao. O, diba ang gulo? We were both so happy that it's the hot, soupy, and oh-so-satisfying XLB that we know so well. The salted fish fried rice was spot on... But pick another spot if you have kidney issues or high blood-- this is a very salty dish! Think dilis galore. Lastly, the salted egg squid was definitely worth the calories. That salted egg coating was really good and nicely complemented the mild taste of the squid... Great meal all in all...

How was the service? Everyone was on their toes, very attentive and dishes were served hot & fast... We both really appreciated it!128077

Finally got to try this resto and of course it won't be complete without ordering their famous Xia Long Bao (Shrimp 285PHp). Then we also ordered Spicy Shrimp wonton (175PHp) and Crispy Beef (235PHp). All of the dishes we ordered were delicious.

We will surely go back to try out their other dishes.

Late lunch on a weekday with the sister and a friend. Our friend had lunch already so we convinced him to come with us since we had our hearts set on the Chocolate Lava Xiao Long Bao.

On the table
🔹Pork Xiao Long Bao - delicious
🔹Crab Roe and Pork Xiao Long Bao - yummy but I prefer the pork version
🔹Chicken Cutlet Fried Rice - flavorful and good for sharing
🔹Steamed Red Bean Xiao Long Bao - that tiny bite wasn't so bad but red bean really isn't for me
🔹Golden Lava Salted Egg Yolk Bun - a delightful surprise. Interesting but I'm still partial to chocolate.

Service was great and we loved that hamper that stored our bags.

Our Chocolate Lava Xiao Long Bao mission was a bust. It wasn't available and we should have asked them beforehand. Food was ok and I'm sure we'll be back for that Chocolate Lava Xiao Long Bao.

Celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary lunch at the #1 Taiwanese restaurant in Manila , Din Tai Fung at ground floor Mega Fashion Hall

It's totally true! They are the worlds famous soup dumpling , Xiao Lang Bao!

We've been seeing long queue every time we were attempting to dine and lucky last October 26, we were finally able to try it for our anniversary lunch.

The place was so big and spacious. We got string beans for appetizer, salt and pepper squid, salted egg yolk prawns which I super enjoyed , pork Xiao Lang Bao , fried rice, for dessert , we had chocolate lava Xiao Lang Bao, and golden lava salted egg yolk bun which is a must try for dessert, so good! I love Xiao Lang Bao!

Fast service , excellent service and systematic even up to paying after we eat. Staffs are always checking our table of orders were complete.

Definitely will come back! Cheers to our 17th weeding lunch celebration!

Journey to megamall on a weekend is not always a pleasant one. Either you went there early or use a ride sharing app but in case you went with the former i suggest parking at building A as the chance of landing a parking spot is higher.

With all the traffic, i arrive very hungry and immediately went here for their famous xiao long bao, my order didnt take too long as its on my desk within minutes. With 10 pieces for 300+, i find it abit expensive but maybe im used to the price of xiao long bao at those hole in the wall at shanghai but i can say that xiao long bao here was the best so far here at manila.

With its Soggy and transluscent skin plus with pork juices inside and mouth watering meat, add some soy and black vinegar.  It was really good.  Only 1 pc breaks when pick up with chopstick, not a good feeling to see those juice flowing out. Haha. If your going here and just wants to try out their xiao long bao i suggest to come here at around 2pm to 530pm as this was the time where theres not much people lining up and youll get a seat immediately, i remember i was on the waiting list on my last visit here. Other items on their menu were also good.

But overall its a good one. :)
