Quick snack at Dohtonbori. We ordered pork yakiniku (180PHp) and mixed okonomiyaki (290PHp).

Good for sharing but if you have a healthy appetite you can choose other dishes on their menu.

I've been wanting to go to this place ever since it was featured on PopTalk - a TV show hosted by Tonipet Gaba featuring some of the latest trends including the most raved and newly opened restaurants in the country. I was really amazed when they featured Dohtonbori and I was more than excited to try their okonomiyaki or Japanese pancakes!

My work schedule had been hectic so I barely had the chance to try it not until I realized the GC handed to me by Looloo will expire in the next 3 days. Lol. So I immediately planned on going here and tagged Jayson J to join me for having okonomiyaki that night. Also, he had already tried Chibo so he would be more critical with his review of this place! 128539

The place is really amazeballs! Haha. It lets you feel that you're in a restaurant in Japan, at least, for an hour or more of your stay. We tried Butatama and Hiroshima Yakimix all for less than a thousand bucks, mostly around 700-ish!

The assigned staff got all the ingredients from the kitchen and laid it on the table with the griddle. It's quite hot so most of the time, I'm thinning distance from the griddle to avoid my face got cooked! Lol. While cooking, he carefully explained to us what he's doing and what's going on. Lol. It's like we're the audience of a cooking demo right in front of us. We were amazed on how the raw ingredients have incredibly turned into these delectable Japanese pancakes. The server also lets us try to play with it and I failed horribly in turning the other side of the pancake! 128514

Gotta love it when they served the pancakes on our plates and shouts, "Ponpokopon!"

I really like how both okonomiyakis were generously filled. Well, we have witnessed how they stuffed the dough with all those ingredients, primarily the cabbage, egg, meat, spring onions, and a lot more so you can really tell how filling it is! To be honest, a piece of okonomiyaki will do for 2 persons but of course depending on your capacities! You can also have unli mayo, and bonito flakes since it's just right on your table so you can have more of it if you want to.

I like the Hiroshima Yakimix maybe because of its various fillings that were quite unusual for this kind of dish - talking' bout the yakisoba stuffed along side with the pork, cabbage, tempura bits, and spring onions. It's my first time to try okonomiyaki and I find it interesting though I'm quite overwhelmed with it. If you ask me, I prefer the Butatama. It might be a bit lesser than the former, but I like it more because it's figuratively (or maybe literally) lesser to digest. Both are tasty and filling, by the way!

Aside from okonomiyaki, they also serve other popular Japanese dishes like Gyu-don, Katsudon, Tempura, Ramen tonkatsu and a lot more!

All the staff has been really courteous and friendly. They're all trained and knowledgeable with the dishes they serve so that's a plus point, especially for first-timers like me who has lots of questions. Lol.

The overall experience is really good! It's exciting to see how all those ingredients on the table turned into delicious and delectable pancakes! It's also a proof of testament that I sucked in cooking. Lol. 128514128079🏼

Will surely go back to try the Four Cheese and 3-meat okonomiyaki! 128076🏽

It was my first time to eat in this restaurant. I was impressed because the ventilation system is very good despite having griddles jn all their tables. The staff are well-trained. They are courteous and you can see that they are focused in what they are doing. I would like to commend the one assigned to our table, Miss Steph. She cooked for us and she was very nice. She was all smiles despite having a lot of customers that day.

My best friend and I ordered the mix okonomiyaki, steak fried rice and the mix yakisoba. They were all so yummy!!!!!!!!! I am impressed becauss it tasted very Japanese.

I will definitely go back to try the other items from their menu.

We tried the four cheese pizza, but my son wanted bacon bits with it. So, we ordered Pork belly and used bits of that with the pizza.
The result?
Very happy children. They loved the pizza.
The okonomiyaki was great. My son who hates vegetables finished his portion with a smile. He said it's as good as the one he tried in Japan. I tend to agree.

The service here is top-notch. Friendly staff who know most of their products well.
The food is on the pricey side, but the experience makes it worth it. They cook it in front of you and keep you informed with what is happening.
I had their Kiwani Pork, some cold Edamame, and Suji Pon (some beef appetizer incorrectly called beef tendon).
I didn't come out full but I was satisfied.
Will bring my family so we can all try this dish where you make your own four cheese pizza.

It was my first time here! Finally! I have been wanting to try this place out eversince it opened.

We tried their okonomiyaki of course, onigiri, grilled pork and some yakisoba.

Even though people come here for the okonomiyaki. I have to say that their grilled pork was the star among the ones we have ordered. I just love the marinade they used with it. I would come back for their grilled items!

Service was pretty good but the experience is what keeps us customers coming back. I suggest that you request to be seated in their private room.

You get to experience authentic japanese style dining. Taking your shoes off before you enter the room. The place is awesome for taking pics and Snapping as well.

Thanks to looloo, as always, I finally got to try one of the most talked about restaurants now - Dohtonbori Philippines. I made sure to find time to visit and experience the craze for myself.

Located at San Juan, near Greenhills Shopping Center, Dohtonbori Philippines is found at the 2nd floor. You'll instantly see it given that the exteriors are decorated just how they should be - Japanese inspired.

Upon seeing the restaurant, it's as if you'll be transported into the alleys of Japan - where the resto's exterior is made of wooden frames, with hanging ceiling decors made of cloth that has the Japanese flag in it - direct but with an identified statement.

At around past 1PM, the place is still quite full. It was a good thing that the more private area where you can experience a more legitimate dining experience was still available so we decided to stay there.

We removed our footwear, placed them in mini lockers and stepped onto the wooden flooring of our dining area. Sit on the floor and be excited as you get to experience cooking the dishes that you ordered.

Specializing in Okonomiyaki, Dohtonbori Philippines has a lot to offer, from noodles to katsudon to meat overload dishes, drinks of all sorts, you will find it hard to choose from their yummy menu.

We ordered the Four Cheese and Seoul Style Okonomiyaki, Omelette Yakisoba and Pork Yakiniku set meals.

For every Okonomiyaki orders, you will be given the ingredients in separate bowls and will be taught how to cook them. As easy as ABC, you just need to mix everything altogether and once combined well, pour in some oil on the cooking area and slowly pour the mixture on it and give it 5 minutes before you cook the other side. You can actually have it your way, overcooked or not, bring out the chef in you!

The four cheese was really yummy. Imagine mozzarella, four cheese, parmesan and mixed cheese altogether with cabbage, egg, etc., this one looked like your usual omelette but tastes like cheese roll but even yummier. The gooeyness of the cheese inside tastes even better when eaten as soon as you're done cooking it.

The Seoul style was a bit weird tasting given that the kimchi was overpowering the taste of all the other ingredients. Nevertheless, this unique style tasted good with a lot of their Okonomiyaki sauce to balance every flavour there is.

I loved the Omelette Yakisoba. When it was served, I enjoyed looking at the ingredients served - from the vegetables, to the toge to the egg and meat - the colors made me excited to cook it! Combining all the ingredients together, pouring the egg over it and including the separately cooked meat as toppings, this Yakisoba is definitely one favorite of mine given its freshness and yumminess in all ways!

The Pork Yakiniku tasted so yum too! I loved the idea that after cooking it, you'll spread some butter on it to make it tastier and even more addicting.

They serve complimentary tea on the side and they also have a variety of legit Japanese drinks to choose from. Their servers were extra nice and accommodating in attending to our concerns. They always have the smiling face that keeps everything warm and easy.

Their interiors will really transport you to Japan. More than that, the cooking and eating experiences altogether will make you feel like you're really in Japan and that's awesome in every way. I shall definitely come back here with my family! 10084

Okonomiyaki craze. I did not know that i would be trying this out soon after the Chibo experience. This can really be a good time to combat the two in a face off challenge how ever i cannot bring Chibo's teppan sa loob ng dohtonbori, right? Lol. Thanks Russel F for the invite and the GC that is about to expire that day!!

128204 ambiance
🇯🇵 Dohtonbori has a more "festive" ambiance. Tables are set up closer to each other, the servers are more talkative and really loud---ponpokopon!!! Smoke gets in your shirt ang theme. Since there is not much ventilation inside, you'll be smelling like grille after dining here. Low ceiling. The seats were okay. Music was friendly to the ears.
🇯🇵 Chibo on the other hand has a professional and quieter ambiance. The servers are more reserved but still smiling. The tables are close to each other too but there's a wide walk way. High ceiling and has a good air condition and ventilation. The seats were more comfy here. Music is more yakuza vibes.

128204food
🇯🇵 Dohtonbori's okonomiyaki is really malaman! You could taste the cabbage cabbage cabbage pork pork dough dough proportions! There is a bottomless BONITO POWDER and nori flakes at the table--So is the Japanese mayo unlimited! The butatama okonomiyaki is filling but it's cloying at the end. The hiroshima yaki mix is really thick!! I like the yakisoba in it. More flavorful! The service tea was okay. Bottomless. This can really be a food fir main meals
🇯🇵 Chibo's okonomiyaki is not that malaman but the thing is the taste of the okonomiyaki sauce was there-- sauce sauce dough dough pork proportions ba. This means their butatama is less cloying than Dohtonbori's but the yakisoba okonomiyaki loses over Dohtonbori's really thick and tasty yakisoba okonomiyaki. The service tea is bottomless as well. And their BONITO FLAKES? FLAKES talaga. Yung tipong kumakaway kaway pa habang it's being grilled! This can be a food choice fir snacks unless you order more. In their menu you can find more highclass and very nice plated dishes.

128204service
🇯🇵 Dohtonbori is casual, fast paced and lets the customer feels comfy and knowledgeable of what the server is doing (to the point they tell you what nori is) like telling you how many minutes will it take before they flip your okonomiyaki. Since the place is small, it's easier fir them to see you if you raise your hand. The servers makes your okonomiyaki from scratch--as in from pouring the oil on your teppan.
🇯🇵 Chibo is again, "professional" and slow in service. They do it very clean and high classed. They dont talk much while doing it maybe more on "watch and learn" style. Some reasons why they're slow maybe they make your okonomiyaki inside their cooking station.. When they bring it out to your teppan, it's already done, they just add the mayo and nori and flakes.

In defense to Chibo's slow service, i think it's because you are less entertained unlike dohtonbori who really entertains you making your okonomiyaki. In chibo kasi you'll just eat your okonomiyaki pero if you're gonna weigh it, matagl rin ang dohtonbori because it does take time to cook your okonomiyaki before letting you enjoy it.

128204price
Amazingly mas mahal ng konti ang dohtonbori (as for the butatama)

128204claims
🇯🇵 Chibo claims to be the first to introduce fusion of okonomiyaki and teppenyaki.
🇯🇵 Dohtonbori humbly states what okonomiyaki is... So who's first?

No doubt Dohtonbori and Chibo has its different plus and minus and it just depends on what your personality is. If you wanna go casual or formal type. As for me, check which restaurant i liked more by viewing the stars! 128513128513

Its great to have finally found a place whose okonomiyaki is just as good as the one found in Little Tokyo! Dohtonbori is as authentic as they come, and the okonomiyaki variations they have are mind blowing - its impossible to try them all in one sitting, even if you're a big group.

For my first visit i tried the gyu-sentai(?) okonomiyaki, their mixed meat okonomiyaki with noodles, and their four cheese okonomiyaki pizza - think okonomiyaki pancake batter used to form the dough, then topped with honey and melted cheese! 128525

Okonomi-yummy i'd say! And all this is best paired with some draft beer and cold sake!!!

Finally we get to use our ROTW GCs from the looloo crew! We've been wanting to eat here for the longest time but our attempts before failed since we couldn't get seats. So we made sure to go early this time around.

Got here 1130am and the place is just starting to get packed, we still managed to get a table by the tatami mats inside for a more authentic experience. Remove your shoes and put them in the lockers provided.

We ordered the cheesy pork okonomiyaki with buttered corn, the rice onigiri with cheese, pork marinated in yakiniku sauce. Pretty obvious that my wife likes cheese. 128522

We both liked our lunch - we found the okonomiyaki really filling so it was a good thing that we only ordered the rice onigiri. Pork yakiniku slices were deliciously sinful being cooked in butter! The corn gave a good balance to the okonomiyaki since that was more flavorful than the other items we ordered.

Next time when we go back, it will probably be when we don't have anything to do after since you will smell of the food you ate. Aside from that negligible thing, I would go for thinner okonomiyaki cake patties instead of the one big pancake as it made the cooking somewhat uneven being quite thick, so that burnt the egg batter since you really want it cooked well anyway. Really good experience, we'll go back next time with the nephews.

I love Okonomiyaki!! Although nakakasuya after a few servings, i'd still go back and eat here! For sharing na :)) and maybe DIY the okonomiyaki next time.

Don't go if you're expecting fast food.
Slow service and the whole cooking process takes time - the Japanese way, with timers for flipping pa!

Dohtonburi perhaps should win the best newcomer restaurant! It serves so good a food that can bring out your inner chef! With a teppanyaki table that's reminiscent of your older Japanese restaurants, this mixes the game up a but and allows you to cook. Hassle? Not really. With a prepared set of ingredients, a pair of cooking utensils, and a set of instructions, it provides more fun than stress.

This is my first time to eat here and I can say that it is on point. Reminiscent of your takoyaki slash omelette slash crepe, the okonomiyaki, which is their flagship product, brings so much comfort and familiarity in its taste. Nevermind the appearance especially if you'll do the dish itself, but the taste just explodes.

We ordered two versions - first, deluxe okonomiyaki. This had all the ingredients (almost) with the seafood and meat variations. Not to mention the vegetables that were really fresh! You can adjust the amount of Bonito flakes you put and other seasonings like Nori flakes and Japanese mayo. The crunchy outside texture complements the hot softer contents.

The second and also in the picture is the four cheese. OH EM 🧀🧀🧀🧀 This was pure heaven - I think I needed bread. Grilled four cheese just elevated to another level thanks to Dohtonburi. Still with egg and other vegetables, it had other ingredients than just pure cheese. Warning though as it can get umay towards the end but it was nevertheless very good.

They have other more traditional Japanese offerings like tempura, karaage, ramen, and others to complement your food. Rice and miso soup is not included but can be ordered as a lunch set. Very friendly and patient staff as well.

I heard long lines await people on weekends. Do your best to go early but if waiting was needed, it would be worth it. :)

I have always wanted to bring hubby and the kids to Dohtonbori ans Carousel Creamery. Husband loves Okonomiyaki and my children love ice cream. We had the perfect chance when we headed to QC on Sunday.

Dohtonbori for our Sunday Family dinner – good thing we got a table right away and my Tatami Room request was granted. It was kinda hard having two malikots in a Tatami room with a Teppan in our table but we managed well without any casualties.

Husband got their Pork and Cheese Okonomiyaki and he loved it! He also got a bottle of Sake (Ras Wayn my friends – Abe C and Jairus d lol) and shared it with me. He was so happy with the whole experience that he was already planning to go back even when we were still there.

I loved the Zaru Soba last time so I ordered it again. Introduced this to Cherienne, sans the wasabi, and she enjoyed it! We got another order because one was not enough. Husband also tried it and loved it! We were never fanatics of cold noodles until this Zaru Soba from Dohtonbori.

Cherienne also asked for a Teppan Pizza and we got the Quatro Formaggi. She watched intently as Mafe cooked it for us. Four kinds of cheeses – Mixed cheese, mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan made this teppan pizza so good! But what made all the difference was the caramel sauce that was drizzled after it was cooked. It gave a really good contrast to the rather salty teppan pizza. It was gooey and lovely! Cherienne loved this!

My family definitely had a great time in Dohtonbori. They even provided plastic plates, utensils and cups for my girls. We will be back soon!

Loved the feel of this restaurant. It's like I've been to Japan again. You can feel the Japanese theme of the place.

If you are craving for Okonomiyaki this is your best bet in Manila. You get to cook the food on your own or ask one of the wait staff to do it for you. They narrate to us what they're doing - the process, cooking time, and ingredients. We were given the cutest little spatulas to help us eat off the grill.

The Okonomiyaki has a creamy taste and the fillings inside are deliciously enhanced by the Japanese mayo, Okonomiyaki sauce, Nori and bonito flakes.

Everything is very straight forward and I would say it's either you like this place or you don't. Well, I do! They also offer ramen, donburi, and appetizers for sharing. This place is kid friendly too! They offer pizza and kids menu which invites kids to cook their own food.

My only problem of improvement here, you WILL smell like grilled food (you have been warned). It takes them too long to bring out your bill and extra long to give your change/card back to you.
