Ordered their chicken pot pie, which is more than a comfort dish. It has the right creaminess, that won't make you get that "umay" feeling. The cubed chicken slices were tender, and the pastry was flaky and well seasoned with herbs. I did not remember eating this dish as a child, but it somehow brought me back to my childhood. ***drama. That's just me.

I've not been in Dome Cafe in over a decade, and it was my time to return there today since my days working for San Miguel nearby because my present company had our Mancom here.

It's seen better days, obviously, with dark wenge and old style furniture and an older coffee shop interior (like Figaro was perhaps a few years ago). But it still has quality food and coffee in its menu, so that's good. I guess that's why this has become an institution in EDSA Shang.

We stayed at a corner, we're aptly serviced by the good writers all throughout, got to enjoy long black twice, and I got to order their best selling Grilled porkchops. It's about PhP 500 for two good chunks, served with butter rice, and a side salad. The pork chops were well seasoned, and good and thick, but it could stand to be a bit more moist. But I love the flavors, and the sauce was unnecessary (I couldn't even place the taste of the sauce so never mind that). I think it was a minute overcooked.

Dome Cafe, at a Glance:
> Food & Beverage: 127775127775127775127775(good coffee, good porkchops but needed to be a bit less dry)
> Service (Dine-In): 127775127775127775127775127775 (good service by these old timers; no millennial baristas here 128522)
> Kitchen Service: 1277751277751277751/2 food was fast, there were some fascinating dishes worth a try when we next meet here, like their other mains, and that chicken pot pie my colleague recommended)
> Ambience: 1277751277751/2 (it's old, so I'm not encouraged to hang out here, though their food and coffee were solid)
> Value for Money: 127775127775127775127775 (though I didn't pay, hehe, I think it was fine)
OVERALL: 1277751277751277751/4, rounded off to 3 (food and service were the pluses)
___________
Worth a try - only if you're in the area, and you're meeting people familiar with this resto/coffee shop; otherwise, it's
Worth a return - So-so (it'll be a while or someone will have a gun to my head, or if I get to be treated here; seems they have some decent comfort food

> TIPS: they have free WiFi. Long black coffee is solid. I'll try the pork belly and chicken pot pie next time. The grilled fish with aligue sauce looks devastatingly delish too.

> VERDICT: It's okay to take a pass if you prefer other destinations in the area.

Feeling stressed today so even though I'm not hungry, I ordered Dome's Roast Beef Belly. And guess what, once again, it didn't disappoint.

Maybe this is PMS, maybe this is stress, but whatever it is, the very tender beef relaxed up my stiff muscles, and the deliciously salty gravy, sweetened and lightened up my thoughts.

Dome may have their tempting cakes, but right now, their Roast Beef Belly, is the way to make my tummy happy. 🤗

As a regular customer of Dome, I can say that their Carbonara has been consistently great. Actually, in all things they've been consistent. Both great or not so great alike.

Food - most of the items are good or really good. It's kinda pricey but for me, it's worth it, especially if you stay in this place practically the whole day (me). I'd recommend the Carbonara of course (P295), the Shrimp Pasta (P360) and Roast Beef Belly (P590, their best seller). And if coffee usually doesn't wake you up (like me), try their single or double shot espresso. It works.

Ambience - conducive for working. It's not really quiet but the noise usually won't bother either. You'll rarely find young people just hanging around here. Most are having meetings, so it's that non-irritating kind of noise. Quite inspiring seeing people working actually.

WIFI - stable. They have enough sockets for your laptops too.

Service - good but they fail at one thing: refilling water glasses. They move fast when you call them, but your glass can sit empty for an hour or two until you ask for water (quite consistently). They're all very friendly though.

Restroom - usually clean and tissue well-stocked with tissue. Not a lot of cafes or restaurants in Shang have their own restroom, so plus points to Dome for that.

Instagram worthiness of the place? 3/10. The design is very conventional but if you just wanna focus and work (and not get distracted by taking photos), this place is perfect.

And before I forget, if you'll sit near the magazine stand, bring a jacket. It's crazy cold. But the place is warm and homey. 10084

We had an early morning meeting here and to my surprise its a little crowded meaning they already have an established clientele.

Food- 110881108811088
Place- 110881108811088
Service- 110881108811088

Ordered Tomato-basil pasta with grilled chicken and its not that impressive, their grilled chicken is dry like it was a left over. Their blueberry cheesecake is good because its not too sweet. What I like the the most is their cappuccino because its damn good and so affordable. Maybe i should try their breakfast meals next time.

Over al its a good place to start your day. Would I recommend this to my friends? -- YES! 128077128077128077

Desserts truly have a BIG space in my tummy. No matter how full I am, I have to have desserts.

After watching a late movie, my mom, sister and I went dessert hunting. I thought that Café Metro also serves desserts since there’s the word café but I was not aware that they only serve savory dishes. Well, they have the “Dessert of the Day” priced at PHP90. That day, they were serving Banana Fritters and Buko Pandan. I just had Banana Fritters for breakfast (yes, I also make sure I get to have desserts as early as 8am) and I was not in the mood for anything coconut-y.

Then we remembered Dome and its delicious blueberry cheesecake.

*Off to Dome*

I still have fragments of childhood memories dining at Dome. Some were good and some were not so good. But whenever I remember blueberry cheesecake, I smile.

When we arrived, there were only a few cakes left. There was one slice of carrot cake, a few personal sized Blueberry Cheesecake, Devil’s Food Cake, and Sugar Free Mango Cheesecake. There was also an almost whole blueberry cheesecake.

We decided to order one personal Sugar Free Mango Cheesecake (PHP240), Devil’s Food Cake (personal: PHP195, slice: PHP155), and Blueberry Cheesecake (personal: PHP210, slice: PHP165).

My sister had the Sugar Free Mango Cheesecake and it was just fine. It was not outstanding or something that I would crave. I found it a bit thick and heavy—the type that sticks to the palate. My sister thought that the mangoes were also bit too sour (can’t really say the same thing as I love sour food). Anyway, in the end, we were not able to finish it.

Next cake was the Devil’s Food Cake. I love the one from The Chocolate Kiss. The frosting's delightful as it has the melted marshmallow texture and the chocolate cake is not too sweet. The Dome version on the other hand was a bit too sweet for me. The frosting was sugar overload. I didn’t like the chocolate cake as well as it was not as moist as I think it should be. Nonetheless, I think this is still a hit to those who are hardcore sugar lovers.

Finally, my favorite, Blueberry Cheesecake…

The blueberries were a bit tangy complementing the cheesecake. Also, the cheesecake was light and the texture was smooth. It was one dessert I would love to order after one heavy meal. I just thought that the strawberry syrup on the plate a bit odd though. If only they have spelled Dome or put it more creatively than like a blob or small puddle of blood, it would have been more appetizing.

I'll stick to my favorite next time.

Had a late snack with my mom today, and we got two orders of the smoked salmon salad LOL. Obviously, it was that good 128514 It consists of few ingredients - peaches, asparagus, onions, a chip (?), tomatoes, and their delicious smoked salmon. But it's packed with flavor, yet it's very light on the stomach. 128522 One of the better , if not the best, salads I've had. I'd brave the Ortigas traffic just to eat this again haha.

Went here for afternoon coffee-- a relief from crowded and mainstream coffee shops. People engaged in hushed conversations or individuals buried in books or laptops. Its where most business meetings over breakfast are made, because they open early and even have a mini conference room inside.

Coffee was great and servers approach you with smiles.

I have yet to rate them based on food quality, since we only ordered coffee. Overall, a great alternative when Starbucks or CBTL is too noisy for you. 128077

Yaaay I'm using |ooloo web for this! 128516

Decided on a snack before dinner so as I exited Shang, I headed to this place. The place looks kind of fancy but also laid-back. Patrons all seemed to be either young people working alone on a computer with a cup of coffee or groups of middle-aged women having a chat with each other haha.

I sat down and was given the menu. They serve breakfast from 7-11 AM, and although I wanted some eggs benedict, I couldn't order that anymore because it was already 7 in the evening huhu. They also offer soup, starters, salads, pasta, sandwiches, rice meals and desserts as well as of course their coffees and teas and such. Prices are mostly in the 200-300+ range.

I put a lot of thought into my order and finally settled on their Chicken Pesto sandwich (310 php). It took a suuuuuuper long time though for my food to arrive, even by my standards and I'm usually quite patient. 128530

Eventually, it did arrive though! Yaaay! You have the option of choosing whether you want wheat or white bread. I picked wheat. So my order was two thick pieces of wheat bread sandwiching chicken fillet slices in basil pesto with mayo, lettuce, tomatoes and onions along with a side salad. This was really good! 128077 The chicken fillet was tender, juicy and flavorful. Everything else from the lettuce to the mayo was nice and fresh!

I did thoroughly enjoy my snack. Only downside would have to be the slow service, but I think the food was worth it.

I love this resto because they open really early and they already serve everything on the menu. I eat there every time I have my APE at My Health Shangrila - a rewarding treat after fasting the night before 128521 Their carbonara is a must try. Plus their staff is very efficient and responsive.

We usually come here for their Long Black and the ambiance because it's a good place to study. I was feeling hungry today so I checked out their Grilled Pork Chops and OMG!! As soon as it was served, the first thing I said was, "This smells divine!" My first bite didn't disappoint as well. All throughout the meal, I kept saying oh my god this is so good! I managed to finish the whole thing. Salad wasn't half bad as well. If you're in the area, this is definitely something you should try! Hands down the best pork chops I've had in a while!

I love Dôme's coffee for when I would just like to relax and take a break from Starbs. Flat white this time with Tiramisu on the side. The tiramisu was ok, just the right sweetness. Coffee with (more) milk was frothy. Acoustic nights on Saturdays at Shangri-la EDSA branch. Perfect day to chill.

For the appetizer we had the mozzarella sticks with salsa dip, it wasn't good, parang "pwede na". The grilled pork chop tasted okay, but at least the tomato basil with grilled chicken pasta tasted good.

Well I think this is a coffee shop so you're not supposed to expect on the main courses.

Probably go back here for the coffee or anything.
