It seems like eating at Kresto (Korean restaurant) is becoming a habit of my team after our very loooooong work shift. This time we tried Dong Won Garden.

Dong Won is a pretty nice restaurant. Their food are more expensive compared to Jumong and Min Sok, but they also have a bigger space. What I like about Korean restaurants is their unlimited side dishes. In this visit, they served us kimchi, radish, meat loaf, and anchovies. Out of these, my favorite was the kimchi. It's super fresh and tasty. However I wish they have other variety of side dishes like egg, tofu, and probably sweet potatoes.

For the meat, we ordered Samgyupsal (330php). This is thin-sliced pork BBQ. This is a usual order when dining at a kresto. I love this being paired with their special sauces (soybean chili paste and gireumjang). We also ordered Dwedji Kalbi (330php). This is pork short ribs BBQ. This was tastier than the former but this has bones which you can remove before eating. I can probably eat this with rice. Lastly, we ordered beef also. Thinly slice at that. They call this Woosamgyup Gui (450php). This was very flavorful. I liked this with my lettuce. I love making lettuce wraps for my friends as they say I'm good at it. 128517 The servers gave us free soup based on our orders! I just forgot what it's called but it was delicious. It had a right amount of spicy ingredients which made it bearable to eat. Their rice was good too!

I have nothing to complain about the service as they provided all our needs. They even took a group pic for us. I loved that they served us pitchers of cold water when we told them we won't order something to drink. I just hope we can grill our orders of meat in our own grilling tables the next time we visit this place. They ran out of charcoal during this visit, so they grilled everything in their kitchen. 128541

P.S. Like most of Korean restaurants in Makati, Dong Won is open 24/7. That means no problem for those who are working until midnight like me. 128517

Unlimited side dishes and large servings of main dishes as well..^^ quite affordable, though some of the dishes were quite bland(zucchini) and tough(eggplant) it's acceptable..i forgot to take a photo of beef bulgogi..it was really big serving! I eat a lot so that serving was enough for me with extra side dishes of course! 128514128514128514 oh they gave free fruits for dessert!

Dong Won Garden had a really good beef stew dish, an ok samgyupsal set and an acceptable variety of side dishes. The fried sweet banana was my favorite, but unfortunately they eventually ran out of it--this, when it was only second refill and the side dishes were supposedly unlimited.

Didn't like the service as well, especially from one female staff. She never smiled and slightly banged dishes when she placed them on top of our table.

They also have this talkative myna bird that got on my nerves. Are myna birds supposed to bring good luck in a Korean Restaurant or something? Otherwise, don't see the value add of this noisy bird.

Lastly, I'd give a satisfactory rating, from a value for money standpoint as the total bill for myself and 2 companions was at around PHP900 and we were quite full.

Hence, an ok option for korean food but not that much worthy to be smelling like grilled pork for.

Fridays mean FISH and veggies. My cousins and i did not want to eat monggo for dinner so we opted to go to Pipino to have a vegetarian dinner. It was closed for renovation and would be open the next week. Next best thing in Jupiter was to hit Dong Won.

Payday Fridays are always traffic and since we took a while getting ready, boom, no budging. You can imagine the hunger we had when we got to Dong Won.

We ordered sooo much, salmon and tuna sashimi, seafood and tofu stew, tempura, that onion pancake i am not a fan of in general, chap chae sans the meat, my spicy squid and my favorite fish, the fish ice cream!

In my life, i have only tried the red bean fish, so finding out that there was chocolate was gratifying. No judgments please, i ate both. But i shared!! I did! 128522

It was quite a night of feasting.

I love their short beef ribs BBQ (Php450) and their thinly sliced pork BBQ (Php350) which you then wrap in lettuce and dip in different condiments i.e. sesame oil, garlic sauce and that red paste (ironic how i really love it but forgot what's it called 128513).

I also like the many side dishes they serve though I don't like some of them. They have kimchi, crunchy raddish that has the same kimchi sauce, dilis, macaroni salad with apples, hot soup (with squid, shells and vegetables), and more.

The fact that it's open 24 hours is a plus! 9200 The service was good with attentive staff considering it was the wee hours of the morning.

The only thing that threw me off was the little crawling intruder on our table. Since the restaurant is a bit old, they might want to consider fumigating the place.

Overall I still like this place and will definitely go back.

Been craving for Korean food lately and I must say, cravings satisfied!! 128077128513

They give so much appetizers unlike other Korean restaurants where you only get 2 to 3 kinds.. So when they serve the appetizers i knew right then and there that this will be a winner! 128077

Korean food is an acquired taste. This place is my first love affair with Korean cuisine. In every Korean resto, the spread of appetizers normally comes for free, and Dong Won is such a generous host. Aside from the famous samgyupsal (grilled thin slices of pork belly wrapped in lettuce), i am keen on going back because of the beef kalbi. Its has chunks of uber tender beef loin with a thick reduction of sweet, salty, and savoury sauce. I vouch it, its a pot of Korean bliss. I also love their Kimchi Chigae during cool weather or when your feeling blue, or down with a flu. Finish the meal with red bean and vanilla ice cream sandwich shaped as a palm-sized fish. Customer service is top notch, from the moment you step in, every staff will drop everything to shout their share of Anyeong Haseyo! (Forgive the spelling).

We ordered the marinated short ribs and it was not that great The beef didn't taste fresh. I will not go back to this place. Bulgogi brothers is way better. Great food starts with great ingredients. The only thing I like is their rice and their service.

Not bad at all. Spent 700++ for samgyeopsal, beef ribs soup (forgot how they call it) with 10 other side dishes to enjoy. I also like their house tea (made of barley). Some korean resto dont give as many as these sides.

Samgyeopsal is good, they serve a lot of lettuce so you dont need to ask for more. Their beef ribs soup was really too delish! Plus serving is generous. This can feed 3 people.

Will definitely go back to try their grilled stuff - these could be a bit pricey.
