East cafe serves favorites from Asian countries (Japan, China, Philippines etc), trying to innovate the popular dishes but sad to say their food is mediocre at best. Their Chinese noodle soups are far from authentic, their thin gyoza and ramen are forgettable, the bestselling crispy short ribs are dry and not flavorful at all, and the other main dishes are overpriced for the taste.

Two dishes that stood out are the soft shell crab salad and the sumaki (Suman dessert with ube inside topped with mangoes and ice cream. You won't find this elsewhere).

Loved this place! The food and the chill ambiance. 128076

My family and I ate here for lunch today and had salmon sashimi, chicken bulgogi, ebi tempura, and crispy beef ribs. The beef ribs were heaven! 128539 I will definitely come back for that!!! Hehe I loved how the service time was fast and the food was hot. The servers were also very nice. 10084️ It's just kind of pricey but what the heck it was good for sharing and Rustan's anyway. 128521

Always avoided this place because whenever Id passby, the cafè looked empty thinking it wasn't good but was I wrong!

Mom was craving for sandwich and something new, we saw the tofu burger and that was it!

Tofu Burger Php200.00
Our "healthy" tofu burger was delicious even tho it was fried and very oily 128513

Ebi Tempura Maki w/ Kani Php260.00
For the taste, price and the serving of about 8pcs, I think, that was sooo worth it!!!

Really appreciated also the staff, specially how the waiter whispered the amount of money we gave for the bill 128077

Overall experience was fantastic!!!! See you real soon!

Their ebi tempura maki with kani is so good! I'd brave the Makati traffic for it. 128525

The restroom here is really pretty and well-maintained too. 128077 One of the nicest restaurant restrooms I've ever seen.

I finally decided to give this place a shot (after much convincing from my girlfriend). I was not disappointed! Got the tempura kani maki and chicken bulogi. The maki is one of the best I've tried- warm prawn on the inside and topped with a cold fresh kani salad. Beef bulogi was good too but kinda wish there was more spice/kick to it. In any case, I'll be back for more!

Salt and pepper crab salad is just always perfectly crunchy salty and sweet. Their Pad thai and Wasabi fish in warm fruit salad is also a must every single time. Don't forget Pistaccia tea to wash down all that food.

Travel time from Parañaque to Rustans - 2 HOURS.

It is just cray cray. I hate the traffic especially when I forget to brings books or magazines with me in the car.

Anyways, we ordered a noodle dish and the salt and pepper crab salad. The former one was too disappointing for both my mom and me, it tasted like pancit canton.. While the latter wasn't really that impressive, it was still better, though, I wished that it came with bigger portions.

Happy Holidays! 12788212788112787810084

Disliked. Why? So-so lang yung food eh. We actually ordered a lot because the food in the menu seemed promising but when we got our orders, nothing satisfied us but 1, their suman. We just this saw from another table and tried it. Sarap! It was soft, warm and it tastes authentic. Even the sauce was really good too. Id give it 4 stars!

I would come back for this! Sorry, no picture of the suman 128523

Impromptu lunch with my bosses. I've already been having a terrible morning, so this surprise lunch was sweet.

The pad thai noodles were the bomb!! I have nothing else to say about it.

I ordered the vegetarian noodle soup and it came back a bit ramen-y. I might've made a mistake ordering it as i expected something clear. I should've gotten a salad instead.

The menu was interesting, would have ordered more if i were with my family and if I had the chance to experiment with better food combinations.

The prices were reasonable considering that it's located inside an upscale department store. To digress, I wanted to shop a lot, too.

Had dinner here while waiting for Pacific Rim.. 128522

Ordered our usual favorites salmon sashimi, california maki, and split the bowl of shrimp and pork wanton noodles.

Everything was good.. The salmon was fresh. 128512
The place was quiet and clean. Plus, they have a koi pond inside! Cool! 128526

Loved it! Thanks for recommending this place Charlene N! 128516128538 Now i know a place to go whenever i feel like hiding.. 128522

Recently renovated, East Cafe offers a comfortable place to eat and rest in-between retail therapy at Rustan's. Today, we had the salmon sashimi, california maki, and unagidon. Serving sizes are small and food is average. But the waiters are attentive and friendly. They remember us and even say hi whenever we'd stroll by while shopping.

Perhaps, the highlight of our visit today was discovering that they serve Pinkerton ice cream. We tried the dulce de leche in sea salt. I thought it was well-executed, but I'm getting a bit tired of all the sea salt caramel and its derivatives flooding the market. I think I'll try a different flavor next time I'm in the area.

I've been frequenting this place. Today, we went there to pick up the gown I reserved the last time and stopped by for a desert.

We had the Pinkerton Ice Cream's Chocolate flavor since we wanted something decadent. Smooth, rich and luscious texture you won't get enough of!

It is homemade, is made from quality ingredients which really shine through and is truly a labor of pure love.

They offer unique flavors that include Banana Nutella, Honey Rosemary (Very intriguing, I'm curious what the taste is! 128586), Carrot Cake, Rum Raisin, Apple, Honeycomb, Banana Honey Glazed Walnut and Candied Maple Bacon.

Or cool down with some refreshing sorbets like the Guava Basil, Strawberry and Mango Basil.

P.S. Pinkerton Ice cream pints are available at Rustan's Fresh!!!

Rustan's has always been my go-to-place when in need of a satisfying retail therapy session. If you are not familiar, East Café is discreetly tucked in the woman section, a perfectly quiet place to just chill and it is a place that I usually go to have a quick recharge.

My mom and I had Tuna Sashimi and Vegetarian Noodles after I tried fitting on some gowns for a friend's debut party.

The Tuna Sashimi was fresh and what not, however, I found the slices a little bit thicker than the standard ones. I'm quite picky and OC with the way they slice my sashimi 128129.

The Vegetarian Noodles was brought out right after we finished eating the sashimi.

Have I mentioned the great service here? Yes, they do. I think the head staff even knows me already. 128563

It is made of noodles with mushroom gyoza and shiitake mushrooms in a light dashi stock. Sounds boring but fantastic dish. The AC was also blasting hard, so it was a perfect complement to this no-frills noodle soup.

I enjoyed that the broth was rich but not greasy. All of their gyozas have a different twist on the taste and appearance, it is flat, not like in most restaurants. It is quite a delight! Taste for yourself!

P.S. You can just go here and order their gyozas with that unique sauce!

Tucked and hidden inside the 2nd floor of Rustan's Department store is a lovely cafe that serves yummy and affordable East Asian dishes. A perfect quiet place to take a breather while doing some shopping.

We chanced on this cafe while waiting for our purchases to be wrapped as bday presents from the Department Store.

I like East Cafe. The interiors and furnitures are generally red wood, Chinese inspired carvings and decors all mixed with modern touches. It is not overly done or cluttered. They even have a small open sushi bar. A very relaxing touch was the Koi Pond inside the cafe! Piped-in music playing tunes from a Chinese Guitar. Very cozy and plush Oriental-Modern feel.

Their menu is extensive. They serve Chinese, Japanese, Singaporean/Malay, Pinoy, and Thai dishes. Offerings range from appetizers, soups, salads, pasta/noodles, ramen, sandwiches, Jap rice toppings, sushi and sashimi, desserts, ice cream, and Pinoy kakanin. Pricing looked reasonable/affordable with price ranging from Php 95- 380.

The place is staffed by friendly, efficient, and knowledgable servers.

I wanted something light. Their server knew what to suggest. I ended up ordering the Inasal Chicken Quesadilla. My friend ordered the Binondo Lomi. We also ordered their Spicy Salmon Maki. For drinks, I ordered their Red grape shake.

We loved their Spicy Salmon Maki. The salmon bits tasted fresh. The spicy-vinegar marinade was just flavorful, sweet-tangy with the right spice hotness. The mango was firm and sweet. The cucumber bits ---crunchy and fresh. Not the best spicy salmon maki in town, but for 250 and the taste---we were very happy.

My friend enjoyed the Binondo Lomi. She liked the fat lomi noodles--- firm, chewy, thick. Serving was huge for one person. I tried her lomi. I liked it. The broth was flavorful and thick with curdled egg. The tofu fish sticks were a bit sweet and chewy. The lobster balls, tasted like shrimp balls, and there was a generous serving of veggies. For a price of 290, not bad.

I liked my Inasal Chicken Quesadilla. It was Quesadilla stuffed with Inasal Chicken breast, kesong puti, caramelized onions and drizzled with Japanese Mayo. Side dishes were shoe-string kamote fries and a mixed green salad. The inasal chicken stuffing was flavorful and seasoned well with the orange inasal oil. I liked how it worked well with the creamy melted kesong puti and the sweet caramelized onions. I enjoyed the crunchy kamote fries. The salad had a yummy sweet-soy-vinegar dressing. For php 270, not bad!

The grape shake was refreshing. Not overly sweet. Nothing spectacular, but twas a good palate cleanser for the yummy oily inasal chicken. I must say that I still prefer Cibo's Grape Shake.

We were happy with our food on this first visit. I will come back to try their other dishes. Their server said that their suman, bibingka, and palitao were merienda best sellers.

Perfect place for some good eats while taking a quiet breather from shopping.

The taste of their Halo-Halo was somewhat sugarless while the Carrot Cake Overload simply explained where all the sugar went.

I was surprised when my good friend brought me to East! Hidden at the 2nd floor of Rustan's Makati, you will never guess there is such a place. Its Asian theme complete with a coy pond is such a relaxing place to stop by.

The food is simple yet elegant on the palate. The selection is good and easy on the budget. A well priced placed if I may say.

They're renovating so tables are few. Was disappointed with their Ramen during this visit. Wild Ginger's Pad Thai is way better than theirs (lacks coriander). California Maki is okay and Mushroom Gyoza is great, but their Pinkerton ice cream, the Dulce de Leche with Sea Salt flavor, more than made up for my crushed expectations.
