This is my go-to-shop when I am in need of organic produce,  herbal tea and tofu chips.  I am a regular customer at Echo.  Whenever I shop,  i make it a point to buy Filipino hence my affinity with Echostore.  This is the first market that offers locally sourced products.  Artisan, organic and healthy.

Last visit was a couple of months back when i hoarded Spa In A Bottle,  Messy Bessy and Theo and Pilo.  Decided to swing by after work for some ice cream.  The odd thing is that whenever i am inside the shop,  compulsions happen,  i found myself buying artisan sea salt.  And then this happened.... Eureka!  They have Fog City Creamery!

This local artisan ice cream brand introduced me to the wonderful union of sea salt and caramel during their humble beginnings at Mercato Centrale.  I've been a groupie since then.  I decided to try the Chili Chocolate-Dulce De Leche-Sea Salt Combo.  Got myself a small cup.

The verdict.  This is the sweetest ice cream in the milky way galaxy!  I nearly died of a sugar overdose.  I aint saying it's not good,  my tastebuds is not accustomed to extreme levels of glucose.  Sweet tooth tribe members would have a field day over this ice cream.  Picture this - Chocolate ice cream laced with dulce de leche syrup.  The chili and the salt is nowhere to be found.  Glucose levels aside,  the consistency of the ice cream is on point,  it's almost melt-proof.

I am still a fan of Fog City Creamery.   I guess I'm better off with the Calamansi Pili flavor next time.

P.S.  The Chili Garlic Sea Salt is awesome.  Packed with flavor,  best used for seasoning pasta.

Culture. Community. Coffee.

Echo store sells produce from local farmers. All ingredients used in their dishes are fresh. I ordered their pasta a la trio. It was delicious, a combination of arrabiata, pesto, and sundries tomatoes. All these strong flavors in perfect harmony. Better when you add a dash of chili pepper. They also have really good lemon grass ice tea. Dishes are around 200-350.

This is where I get my super super favorite ice cream, Carmen's best butter pecan. One pint is finished in one sitting. They also carry different brands of toiletries I love for me and my toddler.

When I asked hubby to get me some Cheese Naan, he brought me home a bonus - Carmen's Best! Now I tried looking for a Carmen's Best store in |ooloo but I guess there is none coz they don't have their own. I learned that they only have authorized distributors. Anyhow....

Hubby got me one of the best sellers - Salted Caramel. I would say that there are a lot of good ice cream and gelato makers in the Market like BONO, Sebastian's and Mad Mark's but Carmen's Best has a fighting chance. The Salted Caramel was just so good - thick, creamy and flavorful. It was so smooth as well. Each spoonful will give you a thousand bursting caramel goodness. What I liked most about it was that the caramel flavor was more than just burnt sugar. Yea you'll get the burnt sugar after taste but then the flavor was rich and deep. The mixture of salt gave it the much needed balance.

Not that I'm complaining but you know this could have been a knock out if there were bits and pieces of say caramel or salt? For some contrast into the smooth texture, maybe? But that's just me 9786️ I still liked it a lot 128521

Why did I pass this place by before??

Whenever I would need to have a quick lunch/dinner, I would always go to Mexicali or to Chuck's Deli. I thought Echo Cafe only had malunggay pesto and other stuff made of malunggay & vegetables. 9996 I also didn't do much grocery shopping, so I never really thought of going inside to check out their organic food and other "ecological" goods.

I wanted to try something healthy and organic for my solo dinner tonight, so I decided to give this place a try. Looking at their menu, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have all sorts of yummy-looking but healthy-sounding food. They're mostly light, too: soups, salads, sandwiches and pasta.

I initially wanted to get one of their salads (yeah right! LOL. Mapagpanggap), but the description of their signature pasta, the Pasta a la Trio, made me order THAT instead: "spicy, sweet, salty and sour. It's like a party in your mouth." Hahaha! It's called a la trio because it is a combination of 3 of their pastas: the Pesto pasta (basil + malunggay), the Arrabiatta (freshly stewed tomato) and the Al Tonno (tuna flakes with capers and olives).

The verdict? It was good. I didn't taste the sour flavors (which is good because I don't like sour food), and it lacked the spicy kick. It was mostly sweet-salty. It was a bit too oily and they put on too much pesto, so there was a lot of it left on my plate once I finished all the pasta.

Was about ready to give this place 3-stars only, for the pasta, when I saw the freezer full of ice cream. They have Merry Moo and Carmen's Best ice cream available! You can order it to go, or for dine in, but they don't serve it by the scoop, only by the pint. After much deliberation, I ordered a pint of Carmen's Best salted caramel. I hear it's the best salted caramel ice cream out there. I didn't plan on finishing the whole pint by myself, of course! The waiter (who is very friendly and smiley, by the way! Plus 1 star for him!) gave me a big spoon to scoop the ice cream out of the pint, and a separate cup and spoon for me to eat my ice cream with.

Oh wow. It was really really good. It had just the right balance of salty and sweet, and it was the perfect ending to my salty and sweet pasta dinner. Haha! 128077

So now I have the remainder of the ice cream, in a pint inside my freezer (Oh no. To think that I promised myself to stay away from sweets already. Whoops). I liked that for take out, they wrap the food in old magazine covers. Eco-friendly from food to packaging!

To wrap up: the pasta was ok, the service was good, and the ice cream was great! 3+4+5 = 12 / 3 = 4 stars!

Someone gave us a pack of malunggay pandesal from Echostore. It looks like pesto pandesal with all those green stuff on the bread. Didn't try it but my mom and dad seemed to like it. Popped it in the toasted and stuffed with tuna salad filling. 9786

Echo Store/Echo Cafe/Echo Market - the place to be for environmentally friendly food & products. ECHO stands for Environment & Community Hope Organization Store. Not interested with the green stuff tho.

I've been eyeing to check this place ever-since I found out through Reich T that they are selling Carmen's Best Ice cream. It's an artisanal ice cream using their own source of milk (from Laguna I think) and top notch ingredients in creating one of the best ice creams that Manila has to offer.

I went here right after my happy tummy meal at Saboten's and bought a pint of Salted Caramel. Quite pricy for P375 but it was yummeh! Thick, creamy & melts in your mouth ice cream. Salted caramel at it's finest! Slurp!

I will surely come back for butter pecan flavor! Plus, they are also selling Merry Moo Ice cream. Heaven! 128571

I've never tried their food at the cafe but I always shop at their stores for veggie meat, which they make. It's super good and super tasty.

I love that they support local entrepreneurs but their high prices prevent me from supporting all of them. That's the only factor stopping me from giving them 5 stars.

On the photo: Spinach and Feta Salad

The place is very nice and quiet. Although I'd have to say that the display of different goods on the shelves brought the ambiance to tiangge feel abit. I like how they have nice soft cafe music or birds chirping. Very calming. Servers were very helpful.

What I ordered:
Mushroom Soup- must try this. It's fresh mushrooms blended together without cream or milk!
Pumpkin Soup- I didn't order this, my friend did. I tried hers and its good too. It's not your ordinary pumpkin soup. It's not also creamy. Which is nice. There's a nice herby kick to it.
Spinach and Feta Salad- a nice balance of the acidic vinegarette and the salty feta cheese and the sweet tomatoes. Spinach leaves were unbelievably thick and crispy. :)

I'd come back to try their other food.

Finally! They now have a branch in QC. Located at Centris, Quezon Ave. They serve pasta and salad. I love the products they sell: spa in a bottle, spa in a can, and grapefruit hand sanitizer.

Echostore serves vegetarian and organic food. And with these choices come great responsibility. It really costs much to eat healthy at this time. They also sell frozen food and treats inside the store aside from the organic products they initially offered. Merry Moo, anyone?

I got Tofu Chorizo and Scrambled Egg Sandwich (in their own special malunggay-enhanced bread) while my friends had Mushroom Burger which is also one of their bestsellers. Food was okay, their own dressing was the key to the food's taste as the tofu chorizo and scrambled egg don't really have anything special in them (aside from chorizo made from tofu).

Gist:
Good: Variety (& it's for a cause anyway!)
Bad: Price
